Obama’s Hubris is His Undoing
Commentary, by Jonathan S. Tobin

Original Article

Historians will have the rest of the century to unravel the mess that is the Barack Obama presidency. While they can explore these years of foreign policy disaster and domestic malaise at leisure, the rest of us have 29 more months to see just how awful things can get before he slides off to a lucrative retirement. But those who want to start the post-mortem on this historic presidency would do well to read Jackson Diehl’s most recent Washington Post column in which he identifies Obama’s hubris as the key element in his undoing. As our Pete Wehner wrote earlier

Just focusing on the O´tard is a mistake. Who greased the skids for his nomination, who funded it, who setup the stealing of the election twice, who benefits from the O´tard administration, which foreign countries/nationals aided in the attack on our Republic - make no mistake this was (and continues to be) an attack on our Republic. The perpetrators (and their supporters) should be tracked down domestically and internationally and meet a very sticky end.

What is he talking about, his "undoing"? The only thing "undone" is the USA. How can anyone with a brain not see that the destruction of America is the agenda, making Obama more successful than even he could have imagined. How does one not understand this, unless you´re a lofo?

The media is completely to blame for supporting this empty suit. He was never qualified for this office but despite his failure of leadership, he was twice elected. We and the world have a lot of repair work to do. I hope we are up for the task.

FTA: Sadly, Obama threw away the victory he inherited from Bush. If he is to recover in this final two years in office the way Bush did, it will require the same sort of honesty and introspection.

But, unfortunately, that seems to be exactly the qualities that are absent from this otherwise brilliant politician. Obama is a great campaigner — a talent that is still on display every time he takes to the road to blame Republicans for the problems he created — and is still personally liked by much of the electorate (even if his charms are largely lost on conservative critics such as myself). But he seems incapable of ever admitting error, especially on big issues.

If hubris is to be Obama´s undoing, let the undoing happen where all can see it.

The faux Greek columns were prophetic!

Aristotle and Elements of Tragedy.

Tragedy depicts the downfall of a noble hero or heroine, usually through some combination of hubris, fate, and the will of the gods. The tragic hero´s powerful wish to achieve some goal inevitably encounters limits, usually those of human frailty (flaws in reason, hubris, society), the gods (through oracles, prophets, fate), or nature.

C´mon Tobin! The guy´s a stiff performer who follows a script written by his handlers. He contradicts himself and blames others because that´s the script. Sure, the guy´s got a sophomoric concept of social justice, but that´s immaterial because he is a figurehead, a mouthpiece, who really just wants to make speeches and party. He doesn´t attend briefings, he doesn´t follow situation reports - he follows his script.

All these little "oopsies" people are saying are his mistakes - are not mistakes if his handlers´ object is to gather money and they being paid for doing them.

Even if he admits he "may have made some mistakes", as I hear him couching his many egregious errors, he will still find a way to slip in the notion that he "inherited" a bad situation and did the best he could with it. He will never, never admit he was fundamentally wrong about any of his policies or decisions. He will, as always, find a way to blame others, even if he does give a flabby mea culpa.

Built into his DNA are two things: The absolute certainty that he can talk anybody into anything, and the abject terror that he will be found out to be the political cypher he is.

At the same time, he is terrified both of having his Dorian Gray portrait sullied by reality, and by having to admit that he wrecked the country with his policies.

He will not unqualifiedly say, "I was wrong about my strategy and my policies." It´s still Bush´s fault and the fault of other advisors.

#1 is closest to the truth. Obama is the figurehead in an attack by worldwide special interests who must have paid millions in bribes. It´s not that obama is incompetent or doesn´t care, he´s black and he won. That´s all that was expected of him and all that´s left is golf and vacations. He has no idea how much damage he did but we are America and we will fix it and move on, in pain but much smarter.

I suspect that in the secrecy of the voting booth Mr. Tobin either pulled the lever for Obama or really wanted to for various reasons.

If Tobin is truly a "conservative critic" as he claims to be, he could not have written these almost glowing words about Barry: Obama is a great campaigner — a talent that is still on display every time he takes to the road to blame Republicans for the problems he created — and is still personally liked by much of the electorate (even if his charms are largely lost on conservative critics such as myself).

I think Tobin´s little disclaimer in the parenthesis is phony; otherwise, a true critic wouldn´t write such syrupy descriptions. I would remind Mr. Tobin that Hitler had his charms, too.

So do America´s allies. Obama has betrayed so many people and so many countries. People have caught on, but how many would still vote for him and the Democrats? #6 cites a passage giving the Aristotelian definition of "hero". Based on that, BO does not qualify: he is NOT a noble hero with a fatal flaw.

BO´s "hubris" is nothing but ugly egoism, selfishness/self-centeredness, narcissism.

As a matter of fact, the myth of Narcissus suits BO much more than the life of a Hero. Narcissus is defeated by his self-love.

Tragedy does not suit him. He is hubristic, but not because of accomplishment, instead because of the flattering sycophants who surround him and fawn on him and grovel at his feet.

And "brilliant"? He reminds me of the classic "BS artist" who wows people temporarily, until a true test of mental acuity proves the falseness of his accomplishments.

Is Jeff trying to entice the dullard President by way of flattery? Talk about disingenuous palavering! To say Øbama is an "otherwise brilliant politician" - well, so was Adolph Hitler. Such people are only "brilliant" by way of their shallow minded enablers who choose to willingly be led down the gilded path by them.

There is nothing brilliant about Øbama. He proves that every time he has to speak off teleprompter. His mind is as sharp as sperm whale´s forehead. His so-called "hubris" is a defense mechanism designed to ward away anyone who would "dare" question his much touted "intellect"...touted by a fawning and very maligned media and an agenda driven social elite clique.

Øbama is an America hating goon who has been elevated because he is easily handled, has absolutely no personal morality and has a better "elocution" than the average black man (Just ask Joe biden!).

BO´s problem is that his nature is to criticize and blame current situations. He tears things down but has no ability to build things. He has a rigid ideology that informs his actions but doesn´t know how to translate his beliefs into accomplishments. He also has no ability to evaluate results and determine what has been accomplished.

He believes that doing AAA is good. Once AAA has been carried out he isn´t interested in evaluating the outcome. Why? Because doing AAA is good. Period. He did AAA, he is successful and good.

The real world does not work that way but BO does not live in the real world.

And "formidable intellect"? Sorry, but a person that is incapable of evaluating their own actions and is therefore incapable of observing and learning from their mistakes cannot be said to have a formidable intellect. They are intellectually crippled.

BO is a political game master and knows how to work our current political system to maximum advantage. The timing of his ascendency with the media collapse to liberal idiocy allowed him to appear successful. This is a confluence a man who gratefully accepts prizes for actually doing nothing and people that are willing to award him the prizes.

Meghan McCain joined the dog pile on the Secret Service this week, saying she’s had “nothing but horrible experiences" with the agency and likening the agents to “glorified mall cops.” The 29-year-old author and television personality, who is also the daughter of former GOP presidential candidate Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), opened up on Pivot’s “TakePart Live” about some of her interactions with the Secret Service. "I have nothing but horrible experiences with the Secret Service,” McCain said. “One of my friends called them glorified mall cops and I don´t think that´s terribly far off. I found them cliquey. I hated

It is the stuff that nightmares are made of, and day by day it is getting worse. The Ebola epidemic, says Dr Margaret Chan, director-general of the World Health Organisation (WHO), is now “the greatest peacetime challenge” since the Second World War. Yet her own organisation’s tardiness, partly caused by cuts, together with reductions in--and misuse of--funds elsewhere, are largely responsible for Ebola spiralling out of control. [Snip] It’s just the beginning. At present the numbers of people infected are thought to be doubling in under 30 days--and the blue-chip US Center for Disease Control and Prevention predicts that, if Ebola

WASHINGTON — Representative Elijah E. Cummings of Maryland was at the grocery store the other day when he ran into an elderly black woman who expressed growing concern about President Obama’s safety. Why, she asked, wasn’t he being better protected by his Secret Service agents? The furor that led to this week’s resignation of the director of the Secret Service resonated deeply among blacks, outraged that those supposed to be guarding the first black president were somehow falling down on the job — and suspicious even without evidence that it may be deliberate. “It is something that is widespread in

Top White House officials on Friday worked to reassure the American public that the national response to Ebola is under control. ATLANTA — Texas, America’s second-most populous state behind California, saw 13 of its last abortion clinics turn away women on Friday, after a federal appeals court upheld a law that practically guarantees that only a handful of clinics will remain open in the state. The strictest-of-its-kind Texas law requires abortion providers to build hospital-grade facilities and obtain sometimes impossible-to-get hospital admitting privileges. After signed into law last year by Gov. Rick Perry (R), the law forced most of the 41 clinics operating to close. Thursday’s ruling wiped out a brief victory this summer for abortion rights proponents,

Go to a grocery store in California and buy all the milk, eggs and vegetables you want. But there’s one thing you won’t find at the checkout line, beginning July 1, 2015: Plastic bags to carry your stuff home. Gov. Jerry Brown (D) on Tuesday signed into law a ban on single-use plastic bags, making California the first state to prohibit stores from using the ubiquitous carry-alls. Shoppers will be charged 10 cents for every paper bag and heavy-duty plastic bag they use. “This bill is a step in the right direction,” Brown said in a press release announcing his approval. “It

The hawkish Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina says he is thinking about running for president in 2016. In an interview with Stephen Hayes of the Weekly Standard, the senator, running for re-election to the Senate this year, said: “If I get through my general election, if nobody steps up in the presidential mix, if nobody’s out there talking — me and McCain have been talking — I may just jump in to get to make these arguments,” Graham said. Graham, 59, also dismissed Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, 43, as a presidential candidate, saying he is too young. “He’s a good
