Some evangelicals in Republican
Party are feeling left out,
see no standard-bearer

Washington Post, by Sebastian Payne

Littleton, CO - Perched on the edge of his chair in a study overflowing with books, Pastor Gino Geraci reels off the Republicans he no longer believes in. His friend Mike Huckabee is an “odd bird” who couldn’t win a general election. Sarah Palin doesn’t inspire him with her “cliched responses to difficult questions.” Rand Paul is “fascinating but frustrating.” Of all the Republicans weighing a bid for president in 2016, the only one who puts a smile on Geraci’s face is doctor-turned-conservative-media-darling Ben Carson. And yet, Geraci concedes, Carson is “not in the mainstream” and has little chance of ever being elected.

Ted Cruz mentioned once. Time to celebrate. I was sure they´d leave him out altogether. In fact, I think it´s an sign that Ted will become President in 2016.

Too bad...I don´t want the Evangelicals running the party either... That´s the surest way to run off a lot of non-evangelicals (majority).

I am troubled by anyone who appoints himself a guru regarding the governing of our big country. The potential for divisiveness.

I don´t do pundits regardless of what they are pushing. Too often it is themselves.

We should be using our own good minds.

#4 – Voter fraud a factor? In Ohio there were 17 non-citizens who cast votes in the 2012 presidential election; 274 non-citizens on voting rolls; 257,000 dead people listed as active voters; duplicate voter registrations were reduced from 340,000 in 2011 to four in November 2013. Obama won Ohio by two percentage points. Florida found 100 illegally registered voters, many voting multiple times. In Virginia there was a plan discussed to use forged documents to cast ballots for 100 registered voters who seldom vote. What happened to the military ballots in 2012? Evangelicals? Consider Matthew 7:1-5, “Judge not…”

So far I have not seen a standard bearer for any of the legs of the Republican stool, except maybe the rinos. The evangelicals and the constitutional conservatives are both being ignored or targeted. I suspect the best either group will get is a few condescending bones thrown our way.
Still hoping for a 3rd party.

As long as moderate conservatives are labeled RINO by the non voting purists ( my way or the highway) the party will suffer.
RINO is a biased conclusion for intolerance of other Conservatives who can reach an agreement to include all voters who do not accept liberalism.
Christian denominations that have different ways to worship should not be labeled and their candidates should not be treated like the enemy.

From the look of the discussion threads here every time this subject comes up, there will be very deep division and disagreement for a long time to come in what´s left of the GOP. It is hurtful to have conservative Christians spoken of as if we belonged on the bottom of the party´s shoe. We are NOT responsible for the man who sits in the Oval Office. I do not know one Christian who sat home.

Yes we all have the right to vote or not vote. However, when someone stays home and not vote you ARE VOTING for Communism. Stop being ignorant and support your Constitution.

In my humble opinion as a retired military man who served his Country, if you don´t vote, and ALLOW the Communist and Socialist Democrats to win, I don´t care what brand of Republican you are, then you DESERVE to live under Communism and you should be called a Communist. Sorry but I have no respect for you.

A national post-election survey commissioned by the Faith and Freedom Coalition last night found that the evangelical vote increased in 2012 to a record 27% of the electorate and that white evangelicals voted roughly 78% for Mitt Romney to 21% for Barack Obama. This was the highest share of the vote in modern political history for evangelicals, Reed said.

“Evangelicals turned out in record numbers and voted as heavily for Mitt Romney yesterday as they did for George W. Bush in 2004,” Reed observed. “That is an astonishing outcome that few would have predicted even a few months ago. But Romney underperformed with younger voters and minorities and that in the end made the difference for Obama.”

Air traffic controllers say the damage to the control center outside Chicago is unlike anything they have seen before. Critical communications equipment to manage planes in the skies will have to be replaced. The FAA said Sunday evening that it would take until October 13 - more than two weeks - to get the facility up and running at full capacity. Until then, there will continue to be significant disruptions to air travel in the region. Sunday marked the third day of delays and cancellations as airlines advise passengers to adjust their plans. "It's been about two days since I was supposed to take off," one passenger said.

Air travelers on Sunday can likely expect further delays and cancellations at Chicago airports as the FAA labored to return traffic to normal after an arson fire Friday at the agency´s Aurora radar facility wreaked havoc in the nation´s air travel system. Although the FAA said Saturday that technicians were working to complete a "damage assessment and timeline for restoration of services" at the Aurora facility, the agency did not specify when the air traffic control center, one of the nation´s busiest, would be fully operational. Syrian militant group al-Nusra Front has denounced US-led air strikes as "a war against Islam". In an online statement, the al-Qaeda-linked group called on jihadists around the world to target Western and Arab countries involved. It comes as the US and other nations widened air strikes against Islamic State (IS) fighters in Iraq and Syria. The Pentagon said jets hit the Syrian city of Raqqa on Saturday as well as IS positions near the Turkish border. Kurdish fighters have been defending the Kurdish town of Kobane on the Syrian side of the border since an IS advance sent about 140,000 civilians fleeing to Turkey.

Political pollsters have a tough job. They have to create formulas to determine if the person they are interviewing is likely to vote, and it is within this calculation that their reputations are made. Typically, those who are likely to vote in an off-year election are pretty set. They are the people who always vote in elections — with some motivated by specific issues. In a wave election, the number of those motivated by specific issues escalates, changing the electoral landscape as the candidates who are beneficiaries of this increased participation sweep to victory. The 2014 election is rapidly looking like something new
