Obama: Colleges must do their
part to bring down costs, too

Investor´s Business Daily, by Andrew Malcolm

Original Article

President Obama´s weekly remarks Hi, everybody. Over the next couple weeks, schools all across the country will be opening their doors. Students will suit up for fall sports, marching band and the school play; moms and dads will snap those first-day-of-school pictures — and that includes me and Michelle. And so today, I want to talk directly with students and parents about one of the most important things any of you can do this year — and that’s to begin preparing yourself for an education beyond high school.

I challenge Obama to address a group of academics with the following (will never happen):

Greedy college professors need to pay their fair share. It´s their patriotic duty.

I´m stunned by this comment by Obama:

We know that in today’s economy...some higher education is the surest ticket to the middle class.

He is advocating not above-average success and wealth-building, but entry into the "middle class." How very ambitious. There is nothing wrong with being middle class, but everything wrong with advocating that it is an end in itself and that one shouldn´t think of becoming wealthy.

...I’m working to make sure young people like Elizabeth can go to college without racking up mountains of debt. We reformed a student loan system so that more money goes to students instead of big banks.

The "mountains of debt" wouldn´t have happened if we didn´t have the low-cost housing bust where banks had to scramble to get their money back from people who couldn´t pay because the gov´t mandated free loans.

As for cutting costs by colleges, get rid of some tenured communists and other grievance-victims, social justice "professors" and hire some people who teach real-life classes.

Stunning....:

But as long as college costs keep rising, we can’t just keep throwing money at the problem...

Why not? You keep throwing money at the poverty problem, the social justice problem, the immigration problem, the health care problem and all the other problems YOU created.

Here is Obama once again pretending he has nothing to do with the economic problems students face. Were their parents not hamstrung by job loss and diminishing income due to his policies, they would have more money to give to their kids for college.

OPEN RESPONSE TO ASININE WEEKLY ADDRESS: Mr. President, your domestic policies have taken so much money out of the pockets of parents, that they cannot pay for their kids´ college. And even with a student loan, you have created such bad blood between the gov´t and banks that YOU are mostly responsible, not the colleges.

It´s all here - the whole strategy and the tactics to employ. Long, very worthwhile read - I printed it off when it first appeared as a warning about Obama (and Hillary) in May 2008:

In Pasadena, CA, the President Rochas of the Community College is leaving - too controversial - no one is sorry to see him go. Word just got out that his severance will amount to $400,000.

Incompetence and controversy pay.

That money would buy a lot of education for kids in a public community college.

then to bring down costs, let us begin by tossing the ridiculous expansions of non-teaching roles. The multiplicity of Diversity officers, with the supporting casts of assistants-to, secretaries, admins, etc. plus office space, filing cabinets, benefits, salaries, telephones, etc. Then trash all the Title IX idiocies, with the same impedimenta. Continue until done.
Want to include football coaches making well over $1,000,000 per year plus THEIR staff and such. The Womyn´s Studies, Black Studies, Chicano Studies, Arab Studies, Gay Studies, and all the rest. The LLBTQxxx creeps. The instructors in porn.
There is a LOT that needs to go.
Now end in the idiocy of paying crapheads like Shrillary $200,000 for a 35 minute speech of idiocy. Where does the money come from?
Next, end ALL "majors" including the word "studies". We have a local state university where one might earn a degree in Hospitality Studies, attesting that someone can run a Motel 6 I guess, or manage a Waffle House. You want to borrow $100,000 to be able to run a Motel 6, or even a Best Western?

President Obama´s weekly remarks Hi, everybody. I’m at Millennium Steel in Princeton, Indiana, to have a town hall with workers on National Manufacturing Day. Because in many ways, manufacturing is the quintessential middle-class job. And after a decade of losing jobs, American manufacturing is once again adding them — more than 700,000 over the past four and a half years. In fact, it’s been a bright spot as we keep fighting to recover from the great recession.

"I love you too, Wisconsin!" Sounds like Barack Obama´s standard speech opening after someone in the adoring audience on cue shouts, "We love you, Barack!" Except these days it isn´t Barack. It´s the other Obama, Michelle, the one who became suddenly so proud of America back in 2008 when her husband was first running for presidnt. To be sure, she´s still doing the goody-goody, Tide-clean first lady stuff that they all do with students, moms and kids. But Mrs. Obama has also again taken on an aggressive role for Nov. 4.

A couple of weeks ago, Barack "If You Like Your Health Plan" Obama assured Americans the penetration of the deadly Ebola virus into the United States was an "unlikely event." Now that the first confirmed case is here already, ravaging the feverish body of an unidentified visitor from Liberia quarantined in a Dallas hospital, Obama is, as you´d expect, out of town raising money. He´s in Chicago where he dined late last night with pals in the trendy River North area. I made it clear that America would act as part of a broad coalition, and we were joined in this action by friends and partners, including Arab nations. At the United Nations in New York,

Like Obama, Biden said the surge would actually make things worse in Iraq. The military salute is a simple hand gesture but loaded with tradition, honor, symbolism and packed with respect, both given and returned. It began in the days of chivalry when knights would raise their right hand approaching other knights to show they had no weapon unsheathed. The salute seems often to confound civilians without military experience, who see it as somewhat akin to a fraternity hand sign. Every modern president since Truman has had military (and saluting) experience -- except two Democrats. And both Bill Clinton and Barack Obama have had trouble with the salute.

Lurching on to the new week´s next news diversion, the Obama administration announced new regulations Monday to punish U.S. businesses that employ Americans, make profits and seek to protect the gains for shareholders, as is their fiduciary responsibility. The over-hyped administration moves came against so-called business inversions, a perfectly legal pro forma shift of corporate headquarters to a foreign country with corporate taxes lower than the United States´ confiscatory 35% rate. The goal was to crimp the economic appeal of such moves. Although Russia and North Korea would not be recommended, the money-saving

So it was understandable that after he lost the presidential race in 2012, he was adamant about closing the door to the possibility of a third campaign.
