U.S. Launches Airstrikes in Battle to
Retake Iraq´s Mosul Dam From ISIS

NBC News, by Staff

U.S. fighter planes pounded targets in northern Iraq as a joint military operation kicked off to retake the country´s largest dam from ISIS militants, officials said. U.S. military officials said FA-18 fighter bombers and armed drones were launching airstrikes and offering air cover to Iraqi and Kurdish forces fighting to regain control of the Mosul Dam. ISIS fighters seized the dam on the Tigris River on Aug. 7 as part of an offensive that has seen large swaths of Iraq fall to the Sunni militants. Sources told NBC News the decision to try retaking the dam came after intelligence showed ISIS

What do you want to bet that one side or the other blows up the dam. I trust our military, but not our supposed CIC.

I second what # 1 said.
How can NBC News blithely write this as if
it´s perfectly acceptable
behavior for a Commander in Chief ???!!!
" The Mosul Dam is critical to Iraqi´s entire infrastructure, so much so President Obama
flagged its control as a key concern a week ago
as he took off for vacation in Martha´s Vineyard."
ISIS took control of the dam on August 7, but , obviously Barry didn´t notice .

That dam was so badly engineered and constructed that it wouldn´t take much to bring it down.

#1 - Not ISIS. They´d have to exhaust their petard against it. (Funny cartoon image.) As it stands, the dam is itself a weapon. They´re crazy, but not that crazy. I´ll bet a quatloo ;-)

ISIS has recently been demonized in the Western media as being as evil and as tough as the Nazis or Stalin. If they are, and are knowledgeable about strategy, they will blow up the dam rather then surrender it to the Iraqis and the Kurds.

If ISIS simply surrenders the dam and runs off back into Syria, we will know that they are as inherently weak, and are only tough when they are brutal against defenseless people. That is a recipe to bomb ISIS back into the Stone Age as happened to the Taliban at the start of the fighting in Afghanistan.

Behind the rotten culture is arrogance. After uniformed officers failed to take out 42-year-old Omar J. Gonzalez when he hopped over the fence and ran into the White House, the Secret Service issued a statement saying the officers “showed restraint.” The statement provoked laughter among senior FBI officials. But in its arrogance, the Secret Service thought it could get away with issuing such an outrageous claim and the public would accept it.With similar hubris, the agency leaves the doors to the White Horse unlocked. The idea is that the vaunted Secret Service can handle any problem and can waive the

Accountability: Turns out the Secret Service — which has one job to do — let a knife-wielding intruder all the way into the East Room of the White House. Can´t anyone in government do anything right these days? Time was when the Secret Service seemed an exemplar of professionalism and dedication, an agency with a focused mission and largely immune from the bureaucratic bumbling inherent to big government. In recent years, it´s seemed more like Animal House. The intruder blew past one guard and was stopped only by an off-duty officer. And this was one of hundreds of apparent security breaches.

A Canadian member of the loathed Islamic State claimed the group is plotting an attack on New York City — and will one day fly its flag over the White House. Days before Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi warned of terrorist plots on subways in New York City and Paris, a video emerged showing an ISIS shill named Farah Shirdon widening the scope of the threat. “God willing, we will make some attacks in New York soon,” he said in a video interview with Vice News last week. “A lot of brothers are mobilizing there right now.” He vowed that U.S.-based fighters are “mobilizing for a brilliant attack.”

Qua speech, Barack Obama’s address Wednesday on the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria was surprisingly terrible: a disorganized mess, insincere and unconvincing. To appreciate just how bad and bizarre it was, compare the president’s speech announcing a new air campaign in Iraq and Syria to Dwight Eisenhower’s 1958 statement on his decision to intervene in Lebanon with 14,000—14,000!—troops. The statement contains no chest-thumping about America’s leadership in science and medicine. No pivot to the auto industry and medical research. Eisenhower simply explained what had been done, and why.

President Barack Obama has taken a lot of flack since his Sunday night “60 Minutes” interview, in which he blamed the intelligence community for his failure to tackle the threat posed by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. And that is right and proper. Because not only was his excuse of blaming us a lie, but when questioned on his lie, White House press secretary Josh Earnest doubled down with a whole new lie — both of which are easily, publicly proven false. On Sunday, Obama said the intelligence community had underestimated the rise of ISIS, saying in an interview

Only in the majority, Sen. The Obama administration found itself scrambling on Tuesday to defend President Barack Obama for his lackluster 42% attendance record on daily intelligence briefings, a finding from a new report issued by the non-partisan Government Accountability Institute (GAI). When asked about the GAI revelation on Fox News, State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki appeared flustered and unprepared. "Well, I have no validation of those statistics," said Psaki. "There are a range of ways that you can get your intelligence briefings on the road, in the White House, and I know that he receives those whenever he can."

O’Donnell refuses to wear an earpiece to stay in contact with producers while the live show is airing, so she had no clue it was time to stop talking.
