Lawyer: Friend confirms that
he and shooting victim had
robbed convenience store

FERGUSON, Mo. — The friend who was with Michael Brown when he was shot and killed by a police officer near St. Louis over the weekend is reportedly confirming that he and Brown had taken part in the theft of cigars from a convenience store that day. That word comes from the attorney for Dorian Johnson, speaking to MSNBC. Police in Ferguson had earlier announced that Brown was suspected of taking cigars from the convenience store in what was described as a "strong-arm robbery." Brown´s family is accusing police of trying to draw attention away from the shooting.

Comments:
Officer Wilson was investigating this strong arm robbery when he encountered Brown and Jordan on the street.

Officer Wilson was injured during his encounter with Michael Brown. 6´4, 290+ lbs. A strong-arm bully.

This still raises a lot of questions. It´s obvious Officer Wilson knew he spotted the suspect when he saw Brown. Why didn´t he call for back up and inform dispatch he had the suspect under surveillance. When Brown was confronted there should have been numerous officers on the scene. Maybe he did call in and those details haven´t been released.

Could it be that Obama was ´speaking out´ before all the facts in this case are confirmed? Or one could say, jumping to conclusions, interfering in local law enforcement, prejudicing the case, etc.

Was this the same friend on the video that claimed (while standing next to his lawyer) that he and the deceased were merely walking home and got hassled by a mean cop. And then hid behind a car (while holding cigars) while his innocent friend was hunted down? He had claimed that the police had not taken his statement. Any change of events now?

My husband was on our local PD for years. I guarantee the officer informed dispatch that he had spotted a suspect and gave his location. That would automatically bring any squad in the area who was not otherwise occupied. The guys would just start rolling that way.

He more than likely decided at that point to attempt to engage in a casual conversation with the two until back-up had time to arrive.

That would be the only way to explain why Brown was seen with his head inside the squad wrestling with the officer. There is no way that the cop could possibly have any advantage if this big guy is blocking him from opening the car door, attempting to grab his weapon and, punching him in the face. Adrenalin is through the roof at this point.

Did Brown manage to get the officers primary weapon? Did the officer use a back up to shoot the suspect? At that point shooting to kill is entirely appropriate, especially when it was two robbery suspects against one.

Also..there is no way that the PD should have released any information until an INVESTIGATION had taken place. They must rely on evidence especially in an officer involved shooting that results in a fatality.

But we all know that facts, details and truth don´t matter to a cultural group who will jump on any opportunity to wreak havoc, steal, riot, beat up innocent people, and stir up an incident where they act out their hate. That our president and AG, et al get in on the mess before facts come out goes beyond the pale. They are attempting to manipulate what is going on...reprehensible!

Obama has established a pattern of "´speaking out´ before all the facts in this case are confirmed? Or one could say, jumping to conclusions, interfering in local law enforcement, prejudicing the case, etc."

It is despicable that POTUS would interfere in a local matter before the facts were known, but then Obama´s behavior is ofter despicable.

If race relations in this country are to approach the goals set by MLK, blacks need to cease rioting, looting and burning buildings. ALL of these things are unlawful and uncivilized and NONE of them are justifiable.

It seems to me that people speaking up for the actions of law enforcement ARE taking Dr. King´s words to heart. We are not judging people by the color of their skin, rather by the content of their character. In my book, robbing a store, rioting, damaging personal property are all indicators of one´s character.

The Ferguson Police Chief just had another press conference this afternoon. The officer who stopped and later shot Brown DID NOT KNOW anything about the robbery when he stopped Brown and friend in the street or when he shot him. He was not looking for robbery suspects when he stopped Brown in the street.

There goes any defense that he was stopping a ´felon´ when he shot Brown. He did not know about the robbery or that Brown was involved in any law-breaking that night.

In the second part of the video where that 208# 6ft-4in "CHILD" walks up to the cashier and reaches across and helps himself to merchandise, then pass some to his partner. There was a female clerk behind the counter..she had entered just before Brown started helping himself to the merchandise at the Cashiers position.
Looked like a strong arm robbery from where I was watching the video.

gagolfer: We´ll never know, of course, what was going through Brown´s mind (i.e., did he think he was being stopped for the armed robbery he and his fellow perp had just committed?). The fellow perp´s behavior (i.e., hiding behind the car with the loot in his hand) could be interpreted to indicate that it what HE thought.

Just a niggling little detail, when Michael Brown reached into the police car to "tussle" with the officer he was armed exactly the same weapons he used to rob the convenience store - his hands. Not defending the officer, just pointing out the obvious.

yes 18 but Brown knew what he had just done and the guilty flee when no man is sniffing on his trail. He then acted on his knowledge -- which I am sure surprised the officer and that conduct shocked the officer who had no reason to know why he was being attacked.

gagolfer: Actually, the officer was stopping a felon, perhaps unknowingly. I have to guess the officer did not hear the radio dispatcher´s radio announcement since it does not appear to have been what the police call a "felony stop":

11:52 a.m. - A police dispatcher gave a description of the robbery suspect over the radio. The suspect is described as wearing a white T-shirt, long khaki shorts, yellow socks, flip-flop type shoes and a red Cardinals baseball cap. Wilson left the sick call after hearing the report of the robbery.

11:54 a.m. - A police officer arrived at the store, but the suspects were gone. The officer is told the suspects walked north on W. Florissant Avenue, but the officer did not see them.

121 p.m. - Officer Wilson encountered Brown. In previous statements, Chief Jackson said Wilson was pushed back into his car and that he and Brown struggled before Wilson fired at Brown.

Can we stop calling the near 300# man a teen, now?

Why is nobody upset that a black storekeeper cannot be safe inside his store from young thugs coming in a physically manhandling him?

What was Brown doing with his head in the police car - really hard not to call that uncalled for aggression.

I don´t like weaponizing the police, but I´m not willing to throw the baby out in the bathwater just to satisfy the grievance industry. We - the collective outside Ferguson - need to get out of the way. The sad fact is that our media is so desirous of a racial antipathy meme that they generate them regularly, and innocent people are made to suffer. They are a reverse barometer for me. While I´d like to withhold judgement, I believe the opposite of what the press reports, and that Michael Brown was asking for lethal force because he was attempting to use some of his own.

The police chief - who is no longer leading the investigation - just had another presser that thoroughly mucked up a very messy situation.

He should never ever give a press conference. Inarticulate, stumbling.

And the investigation, now being handled by other agencies, is no longer his to know about or discuss intelligently. So he didn´t.

Then he dropped the nugget that Officer Wilson did not stop Brown and Johnson because of the robbery report.

He really doesn´t know this for sure. Not initially sent on the robbery call, Wilson could have gotten a "be on the lookout" call on his radio. And Brown, who resisted Wilson to the point of hurting Wilson and getting himself shot dead, did NOT know that Wilson may not have known of Brown´s involvement in the robbery. BROWN knew he was guilty of it.

They all should shut up until their ducks are in a very factual row.

PS.
From another article´s timeline:

124 p.m. - A second officer arrived "at the scene of the shooting," Jackson said.

125 p.m. - A police supervisor arrived on the scene.

http://abcnews.go.com/US/ferguson-police-detail-moments-michael-brown-shot/story?id=24998305

At some point we will probably find out that Officer Wilson, not initially sent out on the robbery 911 call, did get the radio call and stopped these two suspects based on their description. Or maybe he´d already stopped them for blocking traffic in the street?

Brown resisted being put into the police cruiser, roughed up Wilson, and was subsequently shot.

Not so fast, #18.

Read #30 and #32. Police chief did not have enough facts to give a coherent press conference.

He really didn´t know what Officer Wilson knew or when. He simply said Wilson was not sent on the robbery investigation. As has been pointed out, a police radio bulletin went out asking officers to be on the lookout for (described) suspects. The chief and we do not know if and when Wilson got that.

And as also been mentioned, if Michael Brown, conscious of his own guilt, thought he was being picked up for the robbery, he might very well have reacted with the same force he used on the convenience store employee. And it did not come out well.

Much more investigation must be done and facts assembled.

I watched a new interview with the accomplice with Michael Brown; he was so innocent sounding; he said he and Michael were only minding their own business engaged in a conversation, and this mean police officer just started trouble. In the video you see a big bully, Michael Brown, intimidating the small framed convenience store owner. Michael not only stole expensive merchandise, he used his hulking 300 pound body to come back in after the owner. Then came the encounter with the police officer; I have no doubt Michael was feeling big about himself and then tried to intimidate the officer. The attorney for the family said this video has no bearing on the case; I beg to differ. It shows what a hulking bully Michael Brown was, and set the tone for he encounter with the officer.

There was a rime when police were expected to shoot when they said stop or I;ll shoot. As for the many shots? It takes a lot of 9mm bullets to stop a maddened person. This happened on a police shoot out where a man was shot multiple times.

Obama´s regime has intensified black hatred for whites. ACORN and inner city unrest acerbated by obama regime so race war more apt to happen than before his election IMO. I hope I am wrong. Trotsky and the democrats new what and when? Lyndon Johnson´s 200 years needed booster shots?

There are a couple of very large (massive muscles) & tall guys in my family. I have tried to explain to them that other people who are strangers do not know that they are nice people and that they need to not approach strangers at night or alone. The other person will naturally fear them because of their sheer size. This was after one had stopped to help a lady who was stranded on the side of the road in middle of nowhere with a flat tire and the family member was insulted that the lady was scared of him. I also had to point out that besides being six and a half feet tall, that he had been using red paint, had red paint smeared on his jeans, was wearing a Harley Davidson shirt that had a drawing of a tombstone on it with the inscription AMF. He did NOT look like a gentle giant, but a giant of questionable intent. A Colt is a giant equalizer, and big guys need to understand that, going into a fight or any situation. Brown seemed to be accustomed to using his size to bully and intimidate. I did not see anything "gentle" in that video.

Friend of the family´s version of events:

Officer sees Michael walking down middle of street. Officer tells him to move, Michael is belligerent and curses.

Officer pulls past and gets report of robbery. Description of suspect matches Michael.

Officer confronts Michael who then attacks him and tries to get his gun. Gun goes off, injuring Michael.

Michael starts to run, then turns around and approaches officer again. Officer is forced to shoot. All shots hit Michael in front, none from behind.

(Snip) While Detroit’s pension system was a struggling local entity with few friends in the state capital, Calpers is a powerful arm of the state, with statutory powers that include liens allowing it to foreclose on the assets of a city that fails to pay its pension bills.

Liberian officials said the U.S. case was inevitable and unsurprising. “It means the entire world is not safe,” said Liberian assistant health minister Tolbert Nyenswah in an interview on Wednesday. “It means we should all be making frantic efforts to stop Ebola in West Africa,” he said. Mr. Nyenswah and other Liberians are hoping that the U.S. case will help to mobilize more global resources to fight Ebola in West Africa, where the epidemic originated earlier this year. “It’s a clear indication that Ebola has no boundary,” said Thomas Siakor, a 32-year-old university student and bread vendor in Monrovia. “It can kill

President Obama shared an elevator earlier this month with an armed security contractor who had been arrested before for assault and battery, in the latest report of a serious violation of Secret Service security protocols. (Snip)The Secret Service then ran a criminal check on the man, and discovered his criminal history. A Secret Service official confirmed the incident to the Associated Press but declined to comment further, citing an ongoing investigation of the event. Despite initial reports that the man had been convicted for assault and battery, a Secret Service official later told Fox News that he was not prosecuted.

Joe Clancy, the man in charge of cleaning up the Secret Service after a series of embarrassing security gaffes, is the ideal person to lead the agency through troubled waters, a former top Obama adviser said Wednesday. The Department of Homeland Security named Clancy, director of corporate security for Comcast Corp., as interim acting director of the Secret Service after Julia Pierson resigned Wednesday. He retired from the agency in July 2011 after having served as special agent in charge of the Presidential Protective Division, a role for which he was well-regarded, David Axelrod, one of Obama´s oldest friends and

In her just-released memoir, 27 year-old "Girls" star Lena Dunham claims that as a 19 year-old Oberlin College student in Ohio, she was raped by a college Republican. In the first chapter that addresses the encounter, Dunham describes the "ill-fated evening of lovemaking" as awkward and hollow. The most sensational moment comes from the fact that "Barry" wasn´t wearing a condom. In the next chapter, Dunham backtracks with the claim that she´s an "unreliable narrator" and accuses "Barry" of rape: [I]n another essay in this book I describe a sexual encounter with a mustachioed campus Republican as the upsetting but

A recently retired Secret Service agent told MailOnline on Thursday that former director Julia Pierson´s resignation will be welcomed by the agency´s rank-and-file because ´people in the service thought she was a joke from Day One.´ He attributed her swift fall from grace to a cadre of ´p***ed off agents who had had enough´ of feeling disrespected by the service´s first female director. ´Putting her in charge was part of the [Obama] administration´s push to feminize the service after the "hookergate" nightmare,´ the agent said, referring to agents who were fired after patronizing prostitutes during a security-check trip to Colombia

Deadly, irrational, and determined, the intruder snuck across a weakened perimeter. Eluding capture, the intruder was detained only after missteps and close calls. The spin began soon after the threat was isolated. Information was selectively leaked. Half-truths and untruths were uttered. Responsibility was avoided; privileges and credentials asserted; authority reasserted. Trust us. Remain calm. Don’t panic. This is the template of recent events. A mental case jumps the White House fence. He makes it to the East Room before he’s tackled by an off-duty Secret Service agent. Initial statements turn out to be misleading or false. President Obama was at Northwestern University on Thursday to deliver an economic speech that, he and his team hoped, would lay out the case for why the public is better off today than they were six years ago -- even if they didn´t feel it in their everday lives. Instead, Obama just gave every Republican ad-maker in the country more fodder for negative ads linking Democratic candidates to him. Here are the four sentences that will draw all of the attention (they come more than two thirds of the way through the speech): "I am not on the ballot this

A presidential defeat isn’t an easy thing to bounce back from. And Mitt Romney did it twice. So it was understandable that after he lost the presidential race in 2012, he was adamant about closing the door to the possibility of a third campaign. But recently, speculation is whirling that Romney may not be so adamant anymore. When asked if he was running in a New York Times interview published earlier this week, Romney said : “I have nothing to add to the story. We’ve got a lot of people looking at the race,” he said. “We’ll see what happens.” That response, which

Meghan McCain joined the dog pile on the Secret Service this week, saying she’s had “nothing but horrible experiences" with the agency and likening the agents to “glorified mall cops.” The 29-year-old author and television personality, who is also the daughter of former GOP presidential candidate Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), opened up on Pivot’s “TakePart Live” about some of her interactions with the Secret Service. "I have nothing but horrible experiences with the Secret Service,” McCain said. “One of my friends called them glorified mall cops and I don´t think that´s terribly far off. I found them cliquey. WASHINGTON — Representative Elijah E. Cummings of Maryland was at the grocery store the other day when he ran into an elderly black woman who expressed growing concern about President Obama’s safety. Why, she asked, wasn’t he being better protected by his Secret Service agents? The furor that led to this week’s resignation of the director of the Secret Service resonated deeply among blacks, outraged that those supposed to be guarding the first black president were somehow falling down on the job — and suspicious even without evidence that it may be deliberate. “It is something that is widespread in

ATLANTA — Texas, America’s second-most populous state behind California, saw 13 of its last abortion clinics turn away women on Friday, after a federal appeals court upheld a law that practically guarantees that only a handful of clinics will remain open in the state. The strictest-of-its-kind Texas law requires abortion providers to build hospital-grade facilities and obtain sometimes impossible-to-get hospital admitting privileges. After signed into law last year by Gov. Rick Perry (R), the law forced most of the 41 clinics operating to close. Thursday’s ruling wiped out a brief victory this summer for abortion rights proponents,

Go to a grocery store in California and buy all the milk, eggs and vegetables you want. But there’s one thing you won’t find at the checkout line, beginning July 1, 2015: Plastic bags to carry your stuff home. Gov. Jerry Brown (D) on Tuesday signed into law a ban on single-use plastic bags, making California the first state to prohibit stores from using the ubiquitous carry-alls. Shoppers will be charged 10 cents for every paper bag and heavy-duty plastic bag they use. “This bill is a step in the right direction,” Brown said in a press release announcing his approval. “It

The hawkish Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina says he is thinking about running for president in 2016. In an interview with Stephen Hayes of the Weekly Standard, the senator, running for re-election to the Senate this year, said: “If I get through my general election, if nobody steps up in the presidential mix, if nobody’s out there talking — me and McCain have been talking — I may just jump in to get to make these arguments,” Graham said. Graham, 59, also dismissed Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, 43, as a presidential candidate, saying he is too young. “He’s a good

Thursday while speaking at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, President Barack Obama giggled and raised his arms as he mocked the Fox News Channel for it´s reporting on ObamaCare. Obama said, "There is a reason fewer Republicans, you hear them running around about ObamaCare, cause while good affordable health care might seem like a fanged threat to the freedom of the American people on Fox News it turns out its working pretty well in the real world."
