Politico Pity Party: Obama Is
on a ´Vacation From Hell´

Newsbusters, by Tom Blumer

Does anyone remember a media report expressing sympathy for former President George W. Bush when adverse events happened during his Crawford, Texas "vacations"? (Given that he and Laura lived there, calling a visit to your place back home hardly seems to qualify as some kind of "vacation") Well, Thursday evening, Politico´s Carrie Budoff Brown took pity on President Obama for his "vacation from hell." Excerpts follow the jump. Poor guy. He´s not going to come back to White House refreshed (bolds are mine): Obama´s ´vacation from hell´. President Barack Obama really wanted to take a vacation. But then the world

The real hell is right here, right now, for America, and I´m talking about LEGAL Americans, not the ones being imported illegally by the administration FROM hell. I´d give my right arm to see them in maximum security for the rest of their treasonous lives.

If you are not willing to sacrifice all for the sake of your country, do not aspire to the presidency.

If you are not willing to hire subordinates capable of doing their jobs - who are more wise and capable in their capacity than you are, do not aspire to the presidency.

If your desire is to transform, rather than empower America, do not aspire to the presidency.

When George Bush went home how many people did he take with him? I´ll wager just the security every president has to have. What did he do? He cut the brush. How much did this cost us? What does the recent book written by a retired security officer say about George Bush (and his father, for that matter)? He says they were down to earth, great people. He also says Hillary Clinton "is a phony".

Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace asked neurosurgeon and GOP novelty Ben Carson, who is very vocally teasing a presidential run, if his inexperience disqualified him from the office, especially given the results of Obama’s alleged inexperience. “After looking at Barack Obama and what’s happened with his lack of political experience over the last six years, wouldn’t putting Ben Carson in the Oval Office be akin to putting a politician in an operating room and having him perform one of your brain surgeries?” Wallace asked. Shockingly, Carson said no. “I think what is required for leadership is wisdom and the

A Georgia high school football team’s tradition of touching a stone statue on their way out of the fieldhouse is drawing the ire of two groups that are demanding the statue be removed. According to MyFoxAtlanta.com, the granite statue at the center of the controversy at Madison County High School in Danielsville has ignited the furor of atheist and humanist groups who say the monument’s biblical inscriptions violate the Constitution. The Freedom from Religion Foundation and the American Humanist Association have written separate letters to the school district, calling the statue "unconstitutional" -- saying it violates the

After keeping his promise to avoid American involvement in extended wars for nearly six years, President Obama on Monday began a military engagement that he acknowledged is likely to far outlive his time in office. The launch of airstrikes in Syria and expanded U.S. action in Iraq, at the head of a dozens-strong coalition of nations, is by far the biggest commitment of U.S. might Obama has made, far beyond 2011’s limited air action in Libya or the operation that killed Osama bin Laden. Yet his decision seemed all but inevitable as Islamic State militants publicly executed U.S. hostages and

Over the past few weeks I’ve been reading Ken Adelman’s fascinating history “Reagan at Reykjavik: Forty-Eight Hours That Ended the Cold War.” Adelman, who led Reagan’s arms control agency, was an adviser at Reagan’s 1986 Iceland summit meeting with Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev. Using some newly declassified documents, Adelman fills out the extraordinary dialogue between the two leaders that set in motion a dramatic cut in nuclear arms. You learn a lot about Reagan’s leadership in the book. For me, the most impressive thing was not Reagan’s attachment to his “Star Wars” strategic defense initiative, which is overrated in ending

Officials say a group of pro-Palestinian protesters are again blocking an Israeli-owned ship from unloading its cargo at a port in California. International Longshore and Warehouse Union spokesman Craig Merrilees says dockworkers at the Port of Oakland did not unload cargo from the ZIM Shanghai on Saturday because of safety concerns raised by the presence of police and protesters. (Snip) Last month, protesters blocked cargo from unloading off the ZIM Piraeus for nearly five days before the ship apparently departed to Los Angeles with a partial load. As of Friday about 15,000 voters — the majority of them Democrats — had requested ballots ahead of Nov. 4. On Thursday, Iowans, who will choose between Democratic U.S. Rep. Finding a doctor who takes Obamacare coverage could be just as frustrating for Californians in 2015 as the health-law expansion enters its second year. The state´s largest health insurers are sticking with their often-criticized narrow networks of doctors, and in some cases they are cutting the number of physicians even more, according to a Times analysis of company data. And the state´s insurance exchange, Covered California, still has no comprehensive directory to help consumers match doctors with health plans. This comes as insurers prepare to enroll hundreds of thousands of new patients this fall and get 1.2 million Californians to

President Barack Obama on Saturday said the widespread mistrust of law enforcement that was exposed by the fatal police shooting of an unarmed black man in Ferguson, Missouri, is corroding America, not just its black communities, and that the wariness flows from significant racial disparities in the administration of justice. Speaking at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation´s annual awards dinner, Obama said these suspicions only harm communities that need law enforcement the most. "It makes folks who are victimized by crime and need strong policing reluctant to go to the police because they may not trust them," he said. "And

We’re being had. Again. For six years, President Obama has endeavored to will the country into accepting two pillars of his alternative national-security reality. First, he claims to have dealt decisively with the terrorist threat, rendering it a disparate series of ragtag jayvees. Second, he asserts that the threat is unrelated to Islam, which is innately peaceful, moderate, and opposed to the wanton “violent extremists” who purport to act in its name. Now, the president has been compelled to act against a jihad that has neither ended nor been “decimated.” The jihad, in fact, has inevitably intensified under his counterfactual

When the U.S. military strikes, its leaders often choose colorful code names for the operation that sometimes stick in history, like Operation Overlord or Rolling Thunder or Desert Storm. Not this time. The U.S.-led air campaign against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria doesn´t have a name. "I know of no plans at this point to name it," Pentagon spokesman Rear Adm. John Kirby said Thursday. Since World War II, almost every U.S. military operation, large and small, has had a code name. Political pollsters have a tough job. They have to create formulas to determine if the person they are interviewing is likely to vote, and it is within this calculation that their reputations are made. Typically, those who are likely to vote in an off-year election are pretty set. They are the people who always vote in elections — with some motivated by specific issues. In a wave election, the number of those motivated by specific issues escalates, changing the electoral landscape as the candidates who are beneficiaries of this increased participation sweep to victory. The 2014 election is rapidly looking like something new
