Militants’ Siege on Mountain
in Iraq Is Over, Pentagon Says

New York Times, by Helene Cooper & Michael D. Shear

Washington - Defense Department officials said late Wednesday that United States airstrikes and Kurdish fighters had broken the Islamic militants’ siege of Mount Sinjar, allowing thousands of the Yazidis trapped there to escape. An initial report from about a dozen Marines and Special Operations forces who arrived on Tuesday and spent 24 hours on the northern Iraqi mountain said that “the situation is much more manageable,” a senior Defense official said in an interview. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, speaking to reporters Wednesday night at Andrews Air Force Base, Md., said it was “far less likely now” that the United States

A dozen or so of our best military are NOT considered "boots on the ground?" Well done, brave warriors. Unfortunately, whether the 0bamanatio wants to admit it or not, the real job of stopping Al Qaeda and ISIS from coming here hasn´t really begun yet.

The NY Times is spinning out of control in order to defend Obama´s indifference to his failure in Iraq. Many of the 40,000 Yazidis may have left the mountain, but they are not going back to their homes & businesses. They are now displaced people, seeking shelter with the Kurds. Not mentioned in the article is the identical fate of 300,000 to 400,000 Christians who fled the Mosul area that was seized by IS. They too left with what they could carry, with IS stealing even this, and these Christians are also among the refugees in Kurdistsn, without aid, shelter or hope. Perhaps if they could build a world class golf course with bare hands, Obama might consider visiting,

This NYT article might be the signal to AP, Reuters and the broadcast media that they can stop reporting on the collapse of Iraq under Obama. Obama rescued the Yazidis with his nine iron, and its time to return to reporting on celebrities and the awesome presidential campaign of Hillary Clinton.

Ok, so we got them off the mountain, now what? Let them get massacred on the plains? Scatter them to hiding places in Syria, Kurdistan, or elsewhere, in which case their culture becomes extinct anyway?

In other words, they´re not really safe yet. And our "help" has only allowed them to escape the immediate threat, but not their ultimate extinction. Very sad. This is not the America we used to be.

Just look at the source of the story! It sounds just a little too rosy. Well that surree ended up being a short story for so many people chased off from their homes. Unfortunately those people are low on the totem pole on Obama´s hierarchy. Obama has been trying to run out the clock on them and got caught, throwing some bones. So let´s insert some real journalists on that mountain and get a truthful update from the refugees, not word of mouth from the ministry of propaganda.

The U.S. military´s top officer said Wednesday that almost half of Iraq´s army is incapable of working against the Islamic State militant group, while the other half needs to be rebuilt with the help of U.S. advisers and military equipment. (Snip) Sectarianism has been a major problem for the Iraqi security forces for years and is in part a reflection of resentments that built up during the decades of rule under Saddam Hussein, who repressed the majority Shiite population, and the unleashing of reprisals against Sunnis after U.S. forces toppled him in April 2003. Sunni resistance led to the relatively brief rise of an extremist group called

The Minnesota Vikings issued a statement early Wednesday saying that running back Adrian Peterson must remain away from all team activities until his felony child abuse case is settled. That means Asaib Ahl al-Haq and the United States military are now fighting on the same side, though each insists they will not work together.
