On Immigration, G.O.P. Starts

New York Times, by Jonathan Weisman

Late last month, as members of Congress were poised to leave for their summer recess, the House Republicans’ top policy experts found themselves in a barren conference room in the Capitol’s basement, negotiating with the party’s most ardent opponents of immigration overhaul. As senior members of the Judiciary Committee looked on, the opponents — Representatives Raúl R. Labrador of Idaho, Louie Gohmert of Texas, Steve King of Iowa and Mo Brooks of Alabama — reshaped two bills to address the rush of unaccompanied children trying to enter the country illegally. Representative Michele Bachmann, Republican of Minnesota, was there, too, and she

This apparently is infuriating Republican Establishment consultants. There is a long way to go but the Tea Party´s influence grows each day; slightly turning the ship to nowhere around one little degree at a time.

Poor Mitch, he thought defeating the candidates was enough. He can´t defeat the spirit. And that has clearly begun to move the GOP to the right, where it needs to be.

Conservatives put a scare into the "establishment" this year even though incumbents won all their senate primaries. The local tea parties did make a difference at the house level thus boehner realized he has to deal with them.

We have the State Committeeman and the State Chairman coming in about Mississippi in about two weeks. They know we are not happy and now they need the Tea Party for the General Election because we are the people that work. Stay tuned.

The liberal Democrat agenda is to legalize as many poor and uneducated illegal aliens as possible and to eventually turn them into Democrat voters.

In that respect, first they granted what amounts to amnesty with no legal basis in law to about one million young illegal aliens, up to age 30 who claim that they were either brought or smuggled into the USA when they were under 16 years of age, who the Democrats know will become the most politically active segment of the illegal alien population group once legalized.

Now the next chapter in the liberal Democrat plan is to unlawfully grant an amnesty to all the illegal alien parents of the previously legalized young illegal aliens. Of course those illegal alien parents are the very ones who either brought or paid alien smugglers to smuggle all those young illegal aliens into the USA in the first place.

Now today illegal aliens who claim that they are gay want a special consideration for amnesty and the very liberal ethnic and immigrant rights groups that are allied to the liberal Democrats claim that there are about 250,000 of those folks out there who Obama should allow to stay, apparently based upon them claiming that they are gay.

Anybody see anything wrong with all that?

FTA: For party elders pressing for conciliation to attract Hispanic and immigrant votes, that unity has different meaning.

Perhaps my experience has been "unique" and no one else has ever been exposed to these ideas, but logically, the people who seem to be harmed the most by "this" wave of illegal "immigrants," is the last "wave of immigrants, the ones working in low wage "starter" jobs where poor English skills may be overlooked, renting homes in poorer neighborhoods, learning to "become" American.

The most strident anti-illegal immigrant person I´ve ever met is a 5th generation Mexican-American, living in Denver, but I met her while she was visiting her son in LA. "David" had married a young woman who had crossed the border near San Diego, and later her mother had come up to live with "David" and his wife.

"Shirley" could speak Spanish, but had not taught her son the language. The family sat down to dinner and the wife and her mother immediately began trash-talking "David", his income, the lifestyle he provided, even his mother. That was enough, "Shirley" (she told me) stood up, and said, "How dare you sit in a house my son pays for, eating food my son paid for, wearing clothes my son paid for, saying that garbage about my son?"

If a bank robber avoids arrest for 10, 15, 20 years, then when he is finally caught, does he get to stay with his family, they need him and should his children get to keep the money, because they want to go to college??

There are hundreds of thousands of low-skilled US citizens, high school dropouts, young people with no work experience, who would be happy to take the jobs that would open up, if the criminal alien invaders were sent home. What is the true unemployment rate fr black males under 25 years old...not the reported rate, which is bad enough, but including the "discouraged workers," who are no longer looking, so are not counted.

At yesterday’s tan suit presser, President Obama said a whole lot of nothing. After informing our ISIS enemies that he has no idea what he’s going to do about them - if anything - he turned his attention to Russia. It’s should be obvious to every clear-thinking man, woman, and child that, if over a thousand troops, tanks, and paratroopers drop into a foreign nation, it’s being invaded. Unfortunately, it seems that it’s not obvious to Barack Obama. ...Because the word “invasion” has magically disappeared from his vocabulary. It may sound pedestrian to point out, but it’s critical to restate why it’s so important that our nation is called the United States of America, and not simply America. The full name emphasizes that the Founders viewed the nation not as one monolithic entity but as a union of sovereign entities delegating limited powers to a central government. To preserve this balance, the Founders put a number of checks in the U.S. Constitution, most notably creating the Senate, which allows for equal membership from every state, thus preventing states with larger populations from running roughshod over the interests of smaller

In a recent New York Times column, Paul Krugman made the assertion that “self-proclaimed libertarians deal with the problem of market failure both by pretending that it doesn’t happen and by imagining government as much worse than it really is.” But suppose we flip that around — substituting “muddle-headed progressives” for “self-proclaimed libertarians” and “government failure” for “market failure.” Compliments to Per Bylund, a research professor at the Hankamer School of Business at Baylor University, for making the necessary adjustments in a blog post at Mises. org. A shattering new study by two political science professors has found that ordinary Americans have virtually no impact whatsoever on the making of national policy in our country. The analysts found that rich individuals and business-controlled interest groups largely shape policy outcomes in the United States. This study should be a loud wake-up call to the vast majority of Americans who are bypassed by their government. To reclaim the promise of American democracy, ordinary citizens must act positively to change the relationship between the people and our government The new study, with the jaw-clenching title of "Testing Theories of American Politics: Elites,
