CNN, please stop. This is ghoulish. The poor man obviously struggled with depression, and his family is devastated. The media sucks.

Ghoulish is the perfect description! Fox switched over to that press conference and I had to turn it off it was so offensive and demeaning. They were all like a bunch of hyenas picking over the corpse. I hope none of the family members attempt to watch that circus. As an aside, I know he was a very popular, talented actor, but the media has gone way overboard with this wall-to-wall coverage all day long.

Oh, please, go away. If this had been a conservative actor, there would not be a word from any politician, especially a leftist. First time in my life I can remember a president making a "statement" about an actors passing. Please just shut up now and let this family grieve in peace.

They remind me of gossipy people at a cocktail party. "Oh, how I loved him, he made me laugh. The memories, too many to count. What a man. You do know he hung himself, don´t you? Yes! He did. With a belt no less. Oh, what a man, such a talent. I heard he tried to slit his wrists first. That´s what I heard. Sad, sad, sad. What a talent." They love Robin Williams, but they love his suicide even more. Sick.

Like Philip S Hoffman, he is now a saint. The idiot just ruined his family. I found him tiresome and exhausting and it was quite apparent to me that his manic highs had to be accompanied by LOWS.

Maybe he didn´t leave a trust for his kids, either, like the saintly Hoffman, who "didn´t want them to be trust fund kids", but did want to leave them with the hideous memory of his suicide forever. Serenity now.

Local talk radio broke from Rush for the press conference and then spent the next 10 minutes discussing said conference. The female host jumped immediately to the conclusion that asphyxiation was subsequent to a failed attempt at wrist slitting and was obviously proud to inform us of her deductive conlusion.

A sad and fairly common story with the Hollywood/entertainer class . . . there has been reporting on his fear of financial problems could have exacerbated his depression . . . I guess it´s human nature to buy expensive, multiple toys when the money rolls in but I often wonder about the huge costs of paying the nut on multiple mega properties . . . got to believe a lot of "mature actors" take on mediocre jobs just to keep up the real estate. Yesterday the news was that Williams died of asphyxiation that was self-inflicted. I thought either he had a bag over his head or a rope around his neck. Why couldn´t they release that fact?
The only reason I can come up with is that, like a soap opera, the press wants to build up the suspension.
Posters are right. This is goulish.

Some of us well understand depression and what it can lead one to do. Some of us understand it first hand, and are still here only by the grace of God. I won´t say any more.

It is fine to appreciate his work, there was an extensive body of films he made. His appearances on talk shows were so manic that looking back on them, it is clear that he was not brilliant, he was ill. I fear that depression will become the new "disease to have." In schools we do our best to ignore suicides and deal just with the kids who are disturbed by the event. The last message you want to communicate to disturbed individuals is that if you kill yourself you will become famous. There will be more suicides in the wake of his death and that is sad.

I suspected as much and posted it here yesterday. I always thought that he would completely burn out someday. He was just too manic, frenetic, frantic, hyper to keep going and it looked to me like he would eventually hit a brick wall.

One of my favorite films of his that I haven´t seen mentioned anywhere - Popeye. He was perfect, as was Shelly Long as Olive Oyl.

So I guess the one day grace period has passed so, yeah, never a Robin Williams fan here. I´ve long included three of his movies among my all-time worst list -- "Good Will Hunting", "Good Morning Vietnam" and "Patch Adams".

I never sought out his standup act but the last time I caught some of one, it was some of the tiredest, stalest Bush bashing at a time such tripe was the last gasp for the lamest comedians.

Still, we hear anecdotes now of his generosity and kindness, I believe them. He´s always been damaged goods, he touched a lot of lives and deserved a far better life than he apparently had.

The truth is, I don´t watch much TV, and the little I watched today were Spanish stations -- no coverage there, and I´ve read no articles. I wasn´t a Williams fan. His demeanor, I though was irritating.

He was hooked on cocaine and alcohol. No one mentions that to get cocaine, one has to buy from a sleazy dealer while our country tries to combat drugs in the schools. He was buying illegal drugs which are very expensive from what I hear. No wonder he was in debt. He was probably Bi-Polar which means he had manic highs and deep lows. He might have been taking medicine to keep him stable but combining legal drugs with cocaine and alcohol is deadly. Over half the people with bi-polar depression commit suicide. Time to stop the Press.

Military gets ´sensitive´ under Obama

The military is growing more “sensitive” under the Obama administration, Pentagon observers say, by relaxing long-standing restrictions on soldiers’ religious and personal liberties. The efforts by the Defense Department to adapt to cultural change go beyond the moves to end the controversial “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy and allow women in combat. In recent weeks, the Pentagon has backed off controversial hairstyle regulations that critics said discriminated against black women and made the phrase “so help me god” optional in the oath for airmen. Earlier this year, the military loosened its rules for soldiers who want to wear turbans or

After admitting that she dislikes “selfies” but agreeing to be part of an “ussie,” and after discussing flying her dogs around on Air Force One, the first lady became painfully honest. He was the first American suicide bomber in that civil war. Abusalha, 22, was a community college student who grew up playing basketball in Vero Beach, Florida. But Abusalha, the son of a Palestinian father and Italian-American mother, became increasingly consumed with religious fervor. He said he was influenced by a close, radical friend, according to a video he made before he killed himself and 16 others while fighting
