Fremont Unified School District´s superintendent has temporarily shelved a controversial ninth-grade health textbook after roughly 2,200 parents and residents took issue with its sexual bondage topics and other material, and demanded it be kept out of the classroom. Supt. Jim Morris will ask school board members Wednesday to place the book, "Your Health Today," on hold until it´s fully vetted following concerns from the community that it would expose teens to topics on sexual fantasies, sex games, as well as themes that include ropes, handcuffs, sex toys and vibrators. Shades of "1984".. Leftist ":progressives" work to destroy morality and decent family life. Common Core Federal Standards (now frantically being renamed state standards after Duncan & Ozero got caught bribing state governors with "stimulus" money) are a vehicle.. allowing liberal professors to write new textbooks to propagandize America´s children. Add thousands of illegal immigrant youth and Voila! You have the promised "fundamental change." Good for these particular protesting parents!

This has been going on for a long time across the country. When my son was in the 6th grade (and he is 35 now) he came back home with a book from the school library with pictures of witches having sex with demons. It was the reading program "book it". It was personally returned to the teacher with a nasty letter from me and a list of English literature books that they should have been reading at that age. The teacher was, of course, silent.

Voter turnout during last month´s primary races was a little too good in some counties, Arizona elections officials said Friday. Some precincts in northern Arizona tallied more ballots cast than there are registered voters, the Arizona Capitol Times reported. According to officials, errors made by poll workers and elections officials in Apache and Navajo counties led to the miscalculations. Initial reports from some precincts showed a turnout of anywhere from 200 to 400 percent. In Apache County, the Puerco West precinct reportedly had 100 votes cast, but only 23 voters are registered there. The voter turnout added up to 434

Arizona´s entire congressional delegation sent a letter Thursday to Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert McDonald urging him to name a permanent leader of the Phoenix VA medical center to replace Director Sharon Helman even though she remains on the agency´s payroll. The letter, unusual in its bipartisan consensus, notes that two temporary bosses have overseen the beleaguered Phoenix VA Health Care System since Helman was placed on leave May 1 amid allegations of fraud and mismanagement. A third fill-in is expected in November."Surely, we can agree that the circumstances surrounding the recent issues at VA facilities around the country are anything

U.S. Customs and Border Protection wasted millions of dollars, violated federal laws and ignored its own rules in spending nearly $17 million to build housing in Ajo for its employees, according to an audit by the Department of Homeland Security´s Office of Inspector General. In a small former mining town where the average house costs $86,500, The CBP spent nearly seven times that — $680,000 per house — to build 21 two- and three-bedroom houses in 2012. The CBP also spent about $2.4 million to buy 20 mobile homes that have mostly stood empty, a report by the inspector general found. The

Nancy Pelosi is almost single-handedly keeping House Democrats afloat. She has raised $80 million for her party this cycle and more than $400 million during her dozen years as party leader. It’s an eye-popping sum that places her as one of the top Democratic fundraisers in history, in the realm of Bill and Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.Pelosi said in an interview that donors give because they believe in the Democrats’ mission, not because of any strong-arming tactics by her.“I’m not interested in anything really for myself,” the California lawmaker insisted. “It’s just about the causes that we believe in and

When Texas Gov. Rick Perry was indicted last month on two felony charges stemming from how he dealt with a misbehaving Democratic state official, the image of the stuttering 2012 Republican primary challenger was replaced with that of a hero-cowboy in the eyes of many conservatives. Perry was under attack from the left wing, and his response was not to apologize but to walk through a hail of blue-hued bullets and emerge laughing, without a mark on him. But some conservative true believers have begun to notice something rather suspicious: The company Perry keeps seems more suited to a mainstream

Nick Olivas became a father at 14, a fact he wouldn´t learn for eight years. While in high school, Olivas had sex with a 20-year-old woman. As he sees it now, she took advantage of a lonely kid going through a rough patch at home.State law says a child younger than 15 cannot consent with an adult under any circumstance, making Olivas a rape victim. But Olivas didn´t press charges and says he didn´t realize at the time that it was even something to consider. The two went their separate ways. Nancy Reagan was right. I’m not talking about when she told kids, “Just say no to drugs.” Simplistic as that advice was, it could have saved a lot of people a lot of pain — just like Michelle Obama’s efforts to get kids to eat healthier food. But no, it’s not the former first lady’s anti-drug campaign that’s been on my mind lately. With conservative critics taking aim at President Barack Obama’s ill-timed trip to Martha’s Vineyard while trouble flared from Ferguson, Missouri, to Iraq and Syria, it’s Reagan’s riposte to those who took issue with her husband’s frequent time

There is a fun foreign policy game making all the rounds in Washington D.C. this summer: Pin the tail on Barack Obama. Its appeal is not hard to understand; it´s so easy to play. Step 1: Pick a foreign crisis that touches even slightly on U.S. national security interests. This shouldn´t be hard, because the United States defines practically everything in the world as being an American interest.Step 2: Make clear that this is no garden-variety problem but rather "the defining crisis of [OBAMA´S] presidency," or a threat to the "very foundations of global order" or the answer to the question,

Hillary Clinton has revealed that she worked through her husband’s affair whilst he was President by making him go through an agonising ´truth and reconciliation´ process. The former US Secretary of State said that she forced Bill Clinton into South Africa-style hearings where he had to be completely honest before she forgave him. She said she was inspired by the country´s former leader Nelson Mandela and that she had to act otherwise she would remain in a mental ´prison´ for the rest of her life. Mrs Clinton, 66, has rarely spoken about her husband’s infidelity with White House intern Monica

President Obama in his ISIS speech did his best to convince the American people that things are under control, that he will pursue a coalition with other nations to degrade and ultimately destroy ISIS and that he will do it only through air strikes. Even someone as savvy about everything as Michelle Obama sometimes flubs an outfit — or to put it more politely, wears something that doesn’t enhance her natural attractions. Which is not to say that’s all that matters about the first lady, who’s been busy with a variety of public events this week: registering voters in Georgia, cutting the ribbon on the renovated White House Visitors Center, commemorating the 9/11 terrorist attacks, even appearing in a videotaped shout-out to Prince Harry. His cynical grandstanding was rightly condemned — but he was hardly alone. Cruz agreed to speak to this group, which included bishops of the Catholic and Orthodox Churches, ostensibly out of solidarity, but took the occasion to antagonize them over their insufficient praise for Israel, then smeared them as anti-Semites before dropping the mic. Let’s start with the end. When it’s over — when you make it through the marathon that is Ken Burns’s beautiful, seven-part documentary “The Roosevelts: An Intimate History,” which begins Sunday night on PBS — you may find yourself with a lingering, nebulous grief. You’re sorry it’s over. You’re sorry they’re over. You’re sorry a certain expression of American ideals is, or often appears to be, completely over.
