Why Ferguson burned: Explaining
St. Louis area riot to kids, outsiders

St Louis Post-Dispatch, by Aisha Sultan

Original Article

Posted By:NorthernDog, 8/11/2014 9:45:30 PM

There was an eerie flashback to 1965 in parts of the St. Louis region Sunday. Riot gear. Tear gas. German shepherds. Looting. Stores on fire. Dozens arrested. It was the violent aftermath of a violent encounter the day before between a police officer and teenager Mike Brown, who was killed. On this very same night that Ferguson boiled over, the Watts riots had burned in Los Angeles nearly 50 years prior. It´s hard to explain race relations within the St. Louis metro area to those who have never lived here. It´s even harder to make sense of it for children

Why don´t they riot when a black kills a black? It happens exponentially more than a white person killing a black person. Oh, I forgot...one is a "hate" crime and the other isn´t...

Racist drivel.

It´s OK to loot because the power went out, oops sorry, this time it is because a gang banger got shot. Or was it because the local NBA team lost--or won. Or maybe it was because somebody dissed somebody or the order was wrong at McDonalds, or just because.

We have lost control of this once-great nation.

Yeah, anyone else notice all the riots and looting down in Florida when the two black perps killed the white Jewish rabbi? Destruction and violence everywhere!!! All those deranged whites and Jews just destroying to be destroying.

Oh wait, no, that didn´t happen. In fact, that NEVER happens.

It´s really, really sad when a certain group lives down to the worst stereotype of that group, as happened in Ferguson...

And while this incident is being analyzed, where is the consideration for police officers, who now, and over the years, “have been on the receiving end of disrespect, mistrust, suspicion or brutality…..”

Oh Aisha...I lived there and I COMPLETELY understand.

The real problem is that you think race has anything to do with this. It doesn´t. It has everything to do with the liberal (pervert) mindset of ´equality´. It´s not about equality of outcome, but equality of opportunity.

But that´s not good enough for you, is it?

Go ahead, riot some more. That always works.

Irbil, Iraq: Islamic State militants have taken control of key cities in Iraq´s western province of Anbar and have begun to besiege one of the country´s largest military bases in a weeklong offensive that´s brought them within artillery range of Baghdad. IS, also known as ISIS, and its tribal allies have dominated Anbar since a surprise offensive last December, but this week´s push was particularly worrisome, because for the first time this year Islamist insurgents were reported to have become a major presence in Abu Ghraib, the last Anbar town on the outskirts of the capital. WASHINGTON — As Obama administration officials sought to reassure Americans about efforts to contain Ebola in the wake of the first U.S. case, the military announced Friday that an additional 1,000 troops could be sent to West Africa to help fight the virus. And that number could go higher than that, said Rear Adm. John Kirby, the Pentagon press secretary. "I´m not going to put a floor or ceiling on this," Kirby said. President Obama initially ordered 3,000 troops to West Africa to help build hospitals, labs and treatment centers and provide logistics help. They are not going to treat Ebola

Ebola is spreading at the rate of five new cases an hour in Sierra Leone, according to figures released as world leaders and experts on disease control gathered in London to discuss the outbreak. The figures from Save the Children showed there were 765 new cases last week in the west African country alone, but only 327 hospital beds to treat infected patients. The charity said the “terrifying” rate of the spread of the disease was outstripping medical supplies and threatened a breakdown of Sierra Leone’s already fragile health system.
