U.S. Postal Service faces
$2B third quarter loss

Associated Press, by Staff

Original Article

Posted By:Ribicon, 8/11/2014 3:28:21 PM

Washington — The U.S. Postal Service lost $2 billion this spring despite increasing its volume and charging consumers more money to send mail, officials said Monday. The loss for the spring quarter, which ended June 30, was significantly higher than the $740 million loss for the same three-month period last year. The agency blamed increases in compensation and benefit costs for the red ink and said it would be unable to make a congressionally mandated payment of $5.7 billion this September for health benefits for future retirees. The loss came despite a 2 percent increase in operating revenue compared to last

Another union/minority-run success story. The "necessarily skyrocketed" fuel costs have to play a part here also.

Chapter 11 reorganization

In either case the Union Contracts are broken and the obligations are terminated..

This story is warning to all taxpayers that our states and cities who pay for retiree and active employee healthcare. Just as the USPS cannot afford the shocking costs of ObamaCare, neither will the thousands of local governments, school districts, counties and states unless they are able to raise our taxes. We are about to be hit with a triple tax whammy: our own health care costs will soar; our taxes will increase to support government provided healthcare to millions; and corporations will pass on the costs of their health care by raising prices and/or reducing choices and services. ObamaCare isn´t free.

Maybe it’s war fatigue. Maybe climate change is consuming all the protest energy right now. Maybe momentum just needs to build. But most likely, all of the above are the reasons antiwar protests didn’t erupt throughout the Bay Area, veteran activists say, after U.S. warplanes roared over the Syrian border Tuesday to bomb more than a dozen enclaves of Islamic radical jihadists into rubble. Some activists even conceded that many people weren’t going into the streets because the militants being targeted deserved to be dealt with, if not killed. By Tuesday afternoon, there were still no loud demonstrations to be found.

Second, he asserts that the threat is unrelated to Islam, which is innately peaceful, moderate, and opposed to the wanton “violent extremists” who purport to act in its name. Not this time. The U.S.-led air campaign against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria doesn´t have a name. "I know of no plans at this point to name it," Pentagon spokesman Rear Adm. John Kirby said Thursday. Since World War II, almost every U.S. military operation, large and small, has had a code name. Political pollsters have a tough job. They have to create formulas to determine if the person they are interviewing is likely to vote, and it is within this calculation that their reputations are made. Typically, those who are likely to vote in an off-year election are pretty set. They are the people who always vote in elections — with some motivated by specific issues. In a wave election, the number of those motivated by specific issues escalates, changing the electoral landscape as the candidates who are beneficiaries of this increased participation sweep to victory. The 2014 election is rapidly looking like something new
