WASHINGTON — The president of Somalia carried to Washington last week plans for economic development and the hopes of his people to recover from the scourge of terrorism, capped off with a crucial message for America: the threat of Al-Shabaab and other al-Qaeda affiliates in North Africa is not Somalia’s problem alone. “Boko Haram, Al-Shabaab, all of them, these are terrorist organizations — they are linked, they live for each other, they support each other and they are connected globally,” President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud told PJM in an exclusive interview on Friday. “It’s not just an issue of one country or

Comments:
Mohamud puts the lie to Obama´s statement that "al Qaeda is on the run." There is no mention of discussing this with Obama. We know how much he cares, they will probably send out another hashtag to solve the matter. s/o How many of those Somalians now reside in Minneapolis or some other area of this country??

ABC’s Jon Karl reported Sunday that the Obama White House is “entirely unconcerned” about the optics of President Obama playing golf during the ongoing foreign policy crises. “They are entirely unconcerned about it because their boss is entirely unconcerned about it. Even if they were [concerned] there isn’t anything they could do about it. He likes to get out and play golf. It was pretty remarkable, he got here [Martha’s Vineyard] and on the golf course in almost record time. I think we were on the island about an hour by the time he was already hitting off the first

Face the Nation host Bob Schieffer asked the famed investigative duo Woodward and Bernstein if they learned anything from Watergate that could help future presidents can avoid political scandals. Woodward had one piece of advice, gleamed from Robert McNamara’s lessons from Vietnam. “The advisors to the president need to sit around with the president and argue with him,” he said, “and say, ‘Wait a minute, let’s look at all the options.’ You have to create a conflict situation. McNamara said what happens in the presidency is no one wants to argue with the president, particularly in front of other advisors.

A familiar face is now involved in the Saturday police shooting of Michael Brown, an unarmed, black 18-year-old man in St. Louis, MO. Benjamin Crump, the civil rights attorney who represented Trayvon Martin‘s family in the 2013 George Zimmerman trial, has been retained by Brown’s parents. They are scheduled to host a press conference Monday, according to WTSP. Brown was fatally shot by police officers during an encounter near an apartment complex. According to KMOV, witnesses say Brown was unarmed and had his hands in the air when he was shot multiple times by an officer. Zimmerman was acquitted of murder charges. [Image via

The governing body of one New Jersey town voted in favor of renaming the local Kennedy Center after the current White House head — and calling it the Barack Obama Center — and some residents aren’t exactly happy. Philly.com reported that the renaming came at the request of Willingboro Township Mayor Jacqueline Jennings, after she recalled how the black population in the region reacted with excitement at the campaign and election of Mr. Obama. “I think that people have a sense of pride about him,” she told Philly.com. “We had so many new people register to vote, people who had

Forty years ago public outrage about the actions of President Richard Milhous Nixon, lead by his long time liberal critics, forced him to be the first U.S. chief executive to resign the presidency. Critics screamed about Nixon’s extra-legal and extra-constitutional conduct as protestors ringed the White House chanting “Jail to the Chief.” Nixon’s men had spied on their fellow citizens, allegedly used the IRS to harass their political enemies, waged war without the consent of Congress and used the CIA in an effort to hide their crimes. No man, Nixon’s critics assured us, was above the law. For his transgressions,

President Obama’s decision to launch airstrikes in Iraq, while backed by senior Hill leaders, has only underscored for his critics the consequences of waiting as long as he did to counter the growing threat of militants with the Islamic State – a group he once dismissed as a “JV team.” Now, the commander-in-chief is being pressed by Republicans and some hawkish Democrats to commit to battling the organization, whose territory stretches from Iraq to Syria, long-term and overhaul what until last week was a wait-and-see approach. “Three years ago, Mr. President, you were told by your national security team, get

An Isis commander at a terrorist training camp north of Baghdad accidentally detonated a belt packed with explosives during a demonstration in front of a group militants on Monday, killing himself and 21 nearby trainees. The accident was a source of dark humour for locals, with suicide attacks in public spaces having become an almost daily occurrence in Iraq. A bomber struck a falafel shop near the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Baghdad last week, and when told of the bungled training demonstration by the New York Times, Raad Hashim, who works at a liquor store near the site of

Dozens of looters descended on stores in a St. Louis suburb and a reporter was sucker-punched Sunday following a vigil being held for an unarmed man who was fatally shot by a police officer on Saturday. “We are currently experiencing a riot,” said a Ferguson, Missouri police dispatcher Sunday, according to Reuters. Tension escalated through the day after residents gathered to protest the shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown. Brown and a friend were walking down the street Saturday when an officer approached them in his squad car. An altercation ensued, and the officer fatally shot Brown. The windswept Scottish highlands are increasingly becoming home to thousands of wind turbines due to government policies seeking to boost green energy production and fight global warming. But such well-intentioned policies may be having an unintended side effect: They could be making people sick. The Scottish Express reported Sunday that the Scottish government has commissioned a study into the “potential ill effects of turbines at 10 sites across the country.” There are more than 33,500 families living within two miles of these turbines, meaning thousands could be getting sick. Barack Obama deliberately set out to lose the war in Iraq, and he did. He defied the advice of his joint chiefs of staff to secure America’s formidable military presence and keep 20,000 troops in country, and left Iraq to its own devices and the tender mercies of Iran. In doing so, he betrayed every American and Iraqi who gave his life to create a free Iraq and keep it out of the clutches of the terrorists. Iraq is now a war zone dominated by the terrorist forces of the Islamic State, whose rise Obama’s policies fostered. Both his secretaries

The decision by Sen. Walsh’s departure from the race came in the same week that two Republican senators — Pat Roberts in Kansas and Lamar Alexander in Tennessee — defeated tea party challengers in primary fights, ensuring that every GOP senator seeking reelection would be the party’s nominee. These past seven days typified the fates of the two parties this election

A terrifying jihadist group is conquering and butchering its way across big swaths of Iraq and Syria. Planes are falling out of the sky on what seems like a weekly basis. Civilians are being killed in massive numbers in the Israel-Gaza conflict. Others are falling prey to Ebola in West Africa. The world, in short, is falling apart. That’s how it feels, at least, to those of us who sit at a blessed remove from the death and destruction, but who are watching every bloody moment of it via cable news and social media. It raises an important question: In an

Political conservatives are the greatest threat to the nation, President Barack Obama suggested in a kid-glove interview with the New York Times. “The president mused, the biggest threat to America — the only force that can really weaken us — is us,” said the interviewer, Thomas Friedman. “Our politics are dysfunctional… societies don’t work if political factions take maximalist positions,” said Obama, who repeatedly claims to be a moderate stymied by the GOP’s supposed obstructionism and radicalism. “And the more diverse the country is, the less it can afford to take maximalist positions,” Obama added. When he was running for re-election in 2012, President Barack Obama repeatedly took credit for ending the war in Iraq and bringing all U.S. troops home from that country. At the White House on Saturday, however, when talking about his decision to use military force against the al-Qaida-related ISIS terrorist group in Iraq, Obama said removing all U.S. troops from Iraq was not “my decision.” “You know I say what I mean and I mean what I say,” Obama said in Hollywood, Florida on Nov. 4, 2012. “I said I´d end the war in Iraq. I ended it.” That statement

A 40-year political career came to a close after Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie lost his bid for a second term in a stunning primary-election defeat by a fellow Democrat and state senator who defied party leadership to challenge the incumbent. A second intraparty fight for U.S. Senate was too close to call. State Sen. David Ige, once seen as an underdog, cruised to a decisive 35 percentage point win in Saturday´s primary after being dramatically outspent by Abercrombie, who also had high-profile endorsements including President Barack Obama. Ige said his win "proves that people power can be money power, especially in Hawaii."
