Clinton takes a step away
from Obama on ISIS;
will Democrats follow?

Los Angeles Times, by Maeve Reston

When President Obama announced airstrikes this week in Iraq to address the humanitarian crisis and contain the alarming expansion of the Islamic State across Iraq, his reluctance was visible as he repeatedly said he would not send ground troops in Iraq. It was an ironic twist for a president who defeated Hillary Rodham Clinton in the 2008 presidential race in part because of his vow to withdraw U.S troops from Iraq, a conflict for which Clinton had voted as a senator. But as he steps into the quagmire in Iraq, the term-limited president will not have to face war-weary voters

Hillary has more to do with the strength of ISIS than anyone. It was her push for regime change that prevented a solution in Syria. If we had armed the FSA, ISIS would be even stronger. It´s a dirty little secret that Iran and Assad actually were on the side of ISIS. Iran provided funds. They wanted more chaos in Iraq. Assad knew they would go after the FSA. All the arms we would have given to the so-called moderates would have wound up in ISIS hands.

"Term limited president"? Why would the president who determines what laws he will obey and what those laws are be limited by a Constitutional amendment? If FDR could have 4 terms, it´s racist to limit Obama to just two terms in office

Obama has a mountain of lies he has yet to tell and an enormous amount of harm that he has yet to do, and his remaining two plus years aren´t enough to get all this done. He needs at least 2 more terms, especially since he has been dreaming about replacing Tiger Woods at Augusta, which will require thousands of more hours of golf at our expense. To update an old adage, Obama can´t quit when he´s so far behind.

The entire Dem position on Iraq is a lie, surrounded by a bodyguard of lies.

After half a century of UN and western leftist meddling, we know what doesn´t work in the mideast. A stable, democratic Iraq was a possibility and as such was the greatest threat to the UN´s continued hegemony ever seen. Obama has single handedly destroyed any hope of progress in the mideast and any threat to the UN by doing almost nothing. He allowed the baby to die of neglect to please the UN.

By focusing on Afghastlistan, which has no hope of ever joining the 19th century, let alone this one the Dems have successfully sidetracked the possibility of ending the mideast-UN cancer that besets us.

Hillary Clinton’s creepy “I’m baack" announcement in Iowa this weekend should be enough to scare any good Republican. Not only did it unwittingly recall the tagline from an actual horror movie — “Poltergeist II: The Other Side” — it was also a warning to anyone who thought the 90s were safely behind us. But for all the oxygen devoted to a potential Clinton run, and as inevitable as some Democrats think she is, all the wind is behind Republicans right now, not Democrats. And certainly not Democrats associated in any way with the Obama administration. Yes, it’s going to require some smart

Orwellian fun via RCP. You trust a guy who openly admits his only loyalty is to the immigrant community to do what’s best for the country at large, don’t you? The fireworks come in the last minute although I’ll be candid and confess I don’t really understand what the point of disagreement is. Hannity says we should secure the border; Gutierrez replies that securing the border won’t stop ISIS operatives, who are more likely to enter the U.S. through airports than by sneaking across from Mexico. Last week, two aircraft took off from an air base in western Russia, just east of the Russian city of Saratov. The aircraft, Tu-95 strategic bombers code-named Bear by NATO, flew northwest, skirting Iceland, Greenland, and Canada. Once beyond Canada, the two lumbering, propeller-driven bombers settled on a heading straight toward the United States. Their goal was a "launch box" off the coast of the U.S. from which, during wartime, they would fire nuclear-tipped cruise missiles towards American cities and military bases. The provocative flights were timed to a NATO summit, attended by President Obama, then taking place in Wales. On the

NEW YORK-After forgiving millions of dollars in medical debt, Occupy Wall Street is tackling a new beast: student loans. Marking the third anniversary of the Occupy Wall Street movement, the group´s Strike Debt initiative announced Wednesday it has abolished $3.8 million worth of private student loan debt since January. It said it has been buying the debts for pennies on the dollar from debt collectors, and then simply forgiving that money rather than trying to collect it. In total, the group spent a little more than $100,000 to purchase the $3.8 million in debt. While the group is unable to

The threat posed by ISIS has invaded the campaign ads and speeches all across the U.S., but the issue has had special resonance in Minnesota where an unusual number of people have left to join the terrorist group. More than a dozen of the nearly 100 Americans believed to have joined ISIS, including several women, hail from the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, according to federal authorities. Many are recruited from the area´s large Somali population, but the recruits are not confined to Somalis. Douglas McCain, the first American killed fighting for ISIS, was also a Minnesota native. Over the weekend the latest in the rolling scandal surrounding Mary Landrieu’s practice of charging taxpayers for her campaign travel throughout Louisiana made its way into a sluggish and indifferent local media. You would think the news that since 2000 Landrieu had spent some $34,000 on forty-three separate incidents of chartered travel to fundraisers and other campaign events, the result of an audit by the law firm of Perkins Coie into her Senate office books, would have exploded into Louisiana’s media. But Landrieu’s embarrassing and troubling disclosure was released—naturally!—on Friday afternoon. And by Sunday, no mention of the news had made

In a post over at Townhall last week, I explored the striking gap between national public opinion trends and polling results in individual contested races. The former data set looks highly promising for Republicans — Allahpundit wrote about the generic ballot on Friday — while the latter offers little indication of a coming red wave. Why aren’t GOP candidates surging across the board in the midst of such an auspicious overall electoral environment? Why is President Obama’s toxic brand dragging down certain Democrats, but not others? When I posed these questions to Real Clear Politics’ top elections guru, Sean Trende,

EDINBURGH, Scotland -- On Calton Hill, overlooking Edinburgh, stands Scotland´s National Monument. A colonnade of classical stone pillars modeled on the Parthenon in Athens, it´s grand, inspiring - and unfinished, ever since the money to build it ran out two centuries ago. It´s a fitting image for the country as seen by independence campaigners, who hope voters will finish Scotland´s incomplete journey to statehood by backing separation from Britain in a referendum on Thursday. Polls suggest the outcome will be close. For many people south of the Scottish-English border, the idea that Scotland might leave the United Kingdom has come as a

But, a recent study published by the Sage Journal found that her “elitist” advice actually “shames poor and middle class mothers.” The College Fix added that the study found that Michelle Obama’s healthy eating program is also sexist. It’s also sexist, the study’s authors suggest, noting that “intentionally or not, it places the burden of a healthy home-cooked meal on women.” Sage Journals published the study by North Carolina researchers Sarah Bowen, Sinikka Elliott and Joslyn Brenton.
