Chattanooga, TN — "Chattanooga is out of control with crime." This is Michael Barr´s home, it’s a historic 4 bedroom house he says he has put over 80k into renovations since 2012. But for the veteran originally from Maryville Tennessee, this dream home has become a nightmare. "Closer to downtown, we are here on east 14th street, a lot of the cars here make my house vibrate from the music coming out of their cars every time a car does drive by I´m always looking up to see if there will be a gun sticking out of the window to

Melanin-deficient urban pioneer-turned-thought-criminal fails to appreciate the many benefits Diversity brings to any community. They should pass a law forcing him to stay; after all, when he and others like him flee the coop, who will there be for the thugs to rob? Who will pay the taxes to support the thugs?

I have known several people who have moved closer to the central city - all have regretted it - most lost considerable amounts of money when they had to sell their homes at substantial losses. Needless to say they all moved far away into the suburbs.

Cars drive by with loud music and guns sticking out of them. What are these, drone cars? Is there a style guide that says to never mention perpetrators? Reporters are professional writers, it has to be deliberate and calculated.

The cops´ job is not to create positive encounters, it´s to arrest the miscreants who are ruining the neighborhood.

Police say they are doing all they can - I don´t buy it. They are letting the thugs take over. Want to stop it? Double down on traffic. Have traffic patrols with drug dogs which provide probable cause to search and arrest. Ticket for loud music and use the dog. All those stops will find illegal drugs. guns, outstanding warrants, etc. All it takes to move this scum is traffic patrols that mean business. They´ll go elsewhere.

Chattanooga is WAY better than it used to be. I could even see myself living there now (on Lookout Mountain or north or east of town).

But seriously - the dude´s from Maryville (small town 90 minutes, give or take, from Chattanooga) and it didn´t occur to him that living in the center of town in a large-ish metropolitan area might not be what he wanted? Geez Louise.

Paterson – The city school district paid out more than $1.1 million for unused sick and vacation days to 47 former employees who retired on July 1. Most of the employees had been teachers, but the list also included a few maintenance workers and aides. The district disclosed the payouts in its monthly personnel report for September. Ten of the payouts exceeded $40,000, with retired principal Joseph Andriulli getting the largest amount - $49,170 for 90 unused days. The payments were all stipulated by labor contracts, officials said. Paterson’s municipal government has had to borrow money in recent years to pay retirees

Camden — It´s common knowledge among some neighbors on Newton Avenue that Martin Luther King Jr. once had family living on their street, and that the man himself would occasionally visit during the late 1940s. What´s also known is that the house, 940 Newton Ave., has turned into a classic, shameful example of what´s happened to thousands of other homes in Camden — vacant, boarded up and a homing beacon for prostitutes and junkies. (Snip) However, within a month, its interior and backyard are once again carpeted with discarded drug baggies, used needles and used condoms. Thursday was no different, and members

Once saluted as America´s suburb, the San Fernando Valley has fallen on difficult times. Nestle USA announced last month that it would close the Chatsworth plant where Hot Pockets frozen sandwiches have been made since 1988, eliminating 360 jobs as it moves production to Kentucky. Not far behind, Sunkist Growers is moving out after four decades in the Valley, leaving its Sherman Oaks headquarters and heading to Santa Clarita. And adult film production — much of which is based in the Valley — has plummeted, as has mainstream film and television production. And so, at the first-of-its-kind State of the

It would also prohibit people from using the cards to withdraw cash from ATMs in those stores. The House passed the bill Tuesday evening on a voice vote. It was once said, “religion is designed to comfort the afflicted and to afflict the comfortable.” Jesus’ parables – short stories with moral lessons – were likewise designed to afflict, to draw us in but leave us uncomfortable. These teachings can be read as being about divine love and salvation, sure. But, their first listeners – first century Jews in Galilee and Judea – heard much more challenging messages. Only when we hear the parables as Jesus’ own audience did can we fully experience their power and find ourselves surprised and challenged today. Here are four examples of Jesus’ teachings that everybody gets wrong: 1.

I know a lot of people are giddy at the prospect of Republicans taking the Senate this November, but that’s becoming less and less likely. It’s not because Democrats are rallying around a particular mission or set of candidates; it’s because Republicans and conservatives aren’t. It seems like I’m always writing on issues no one wants to hear are mistakes, such as messaging or social issues. But I don’t care. These things have to be said. If these columns are received like a gaseous cousin on a long car trip through the desert, so be it. Crack a window… If things continue on their current course, the GOP will not retake the Senate.

Washington - The Secret Service is coming under intense scrutiny after a man who hopped the White House fence made it all the way through the front door before being apprehended. Three and a half months have come and gone and the Pentagon has offered no clarity on what happened to alleged Army deserter and Taliban collaborator Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. Fellow soldiers and other critics fear the military’s now-delayed investigation is shaping up to be a whitewash. The case has become a political powder keg for President Obama. Since he traded five imprisoned Taliban leaders for Bergdahl, the US Government Accountability Office has declared the swap illegal, and nearly two dozen House Democrats have joined Republicans in officially condemning the move for making “Americans less safe.”

Analysts and recent polls have found Brown closing in on US Senator Jeanne Shaheen, the Democratic incumbent he is vying to unseat, in a race that has become increasingly nasty and expensive. Once largely dismissed by critics as an unlikely second act in a state he moved to only last year, Brown’s Senate bid is increasingly seen as a plausible path back to the US Capitol.
