McCain Says Limited U.S. Strikes
on Militants in Iraq Are Not Enough

New York Times, by Jonathan Weisman

Original Article

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 8/9/2014 2:47:05 PM

Washington - President Obama’s authorization of limited military operations against militants in Iraq is not enough to counter a growing threat to the United States from “the richest, most powerful terrorist organization in history,” Senator John McCain, Republican of Arizona, said on Saturday. Speaking by telephone from Vietnam, where he was part of a bipartisan congressional delegation visiting Asia, Mr. McCain said in an interview that Mr. Obama was showing a “fundamental misunderstanding of the threat” presented by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, that is “deeply disturbing.”

Even on the rare occasion Obama tries to do the right things,he figures out a way to botch it.Number one he shouldn´t be tipping off the enemy on his intentions. What I don´t get is we have all these intelligence gathering devices but can´t figure out where the concentrations of these people are and wipe them out all at once.

We´re prolly spending 80 bill a year on spying and yet Obama knew nothing about this ISIS formulation.

Obama doesn´t do anything Islam related without the blessing of CAIR,,so anything he does will be a half ass measure.

he left is also worried aout eing caled soft on security which really helps the GOP.

Don´t get me wrong, I want ISIS destroyed, but if McCain opens his yap you know it´s a lie, or he says it because of his political future..

The District’s top elected officials will join legal scholars on Capitol Hill Monday for the first congressional hearing on D.C. statehood in 20 years. A television news anchorman fighting brain cancer in Illinois told viewers he has only four to six months to live, but he hopes to work as long as he can. On the 13th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, President Obama used the occasion last week to remind Americans that “our combat mission in Afghanistan will come to an end” in three months. But the cost to U.S. taxpayers for reconstruction in Afghanistan will continue. The U.S. has spent $104 billion to rebuild Afghanistan’s security forces, infrastructure, economy, and health care and education sectors. America is spending more on the effort this year alone than it’s spending on foreign assistance for Israel, Iraq, Egypt and Pakistan combined, said John Sopko, special inspector general for Afghanistan reconstruction.

Indianola, IA - Hillary Clinton all but kicked off her 2016 White House bid Sunday before a festive crowd of 6,000 in this pivotal state, presenting herself as a child and champion of the still-struggling middle class. Already dogged by an image as an out-of-touch, wealthy insider, her appearance at a field 20 miles outside Des Moines was an effort to reposition her for the coming campaign. It saddens me that 20 years after my sister Nicole’s murder, we are still seeing the same crimes, just different names, over and over again. The Ray Rice case reflects our misunderstanding of what domestic violence is, and the Oscar Pistorius case reminds me so much of what happened to Nicole: victims defending their partners, and batterers blaming the victim. What is most chilling to me about what I have seen in the coverage of Ray Rice is that he has not atoned for his actions; he seems more concerned with how he is now viewed. And it’s Janay Palmer who is apologizing for her part of being knocked out cold.

This week, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) slandered a group of Middle Eastern Christians who were trying to raise awareness of their struggle to avoid a genocide in the Middle East. His cynical grandstanding was rightly condemned — but he was hardly alone. Cruz agreed to speak to this group, which included bishops of the Catholic and Orthodox Churches, ostensibly out of solidarity, but took the occasion to antagonize them over their insufficient praise for Israel, then smeared them as anti-Semites before dropping the mic. The Washington Free Beacon publicized this flameout — their publisher said the room

Voter turnout during last month´s primary races was a little too good in some counties, Arizona elections officials said Friday. Some precincts in northern Arizona tallied more ballots cast than there are registered voters, the Arizona Capitol Times reported. According to officials, errors made by poll workers and elections officials in Apache and Navajo counties led to the miscalculations. Initial reports from some precincts showed a turnout of anywhere from 200 to 400 percent. In Apache County, the Puerco West precinct reportedly had 100 votes cast, but only 23 voters are registered there. The voter turnout added up to 434

Let’s start with the end. When it’s over — when you make it through the marathon that is Ken Burns’s beautiful, seven-part documentary “The Roosevelts: An Intimate History,” which begins Sunday night on PBS — you may find yourself with a lingering, nebulous grief.
