It´s Time for a GOP Establishment
Mea Culpa on Immigration

Breitbart Big Government, by Daniel Horowitz

Imagine if Republicans had responded to the push for Obamacare in 2009 by embracing the need for “comprehensive health care reform” while acceding to all Democrat premises concerning the foundations of health care policy. Ponder for a moment where we would be politically if Republicans had spent the past five years promoting Obamacare and targeting the GOP´s own members with millions of dollars’ worth of ads beckoning conservatives to support Obama’s signature legislation. Well, that is exactly what Republicans have done with the immigration debate. Immediately following Mitt Romney’s defeat in 2012, the entire GOP consultant class fabricated a narrative that

There are several forces pushing for amnesty and increased immigration: big business and its lapdog the C of C looking for cheap labor, and politicians of both parties salivating over the increased tax revenue they expect to spend, and Democrats and useful idiot Republicans looking for new Dem voters.

We should be able to have a discussion about immigration, the problems, the requirements, the fixes (if necessary) without knee-jerking about "amnesty". Amnesty is not the same thing and to my knowledge, few if any GOPers are encouraging amnesty or anything close.

Screw the stupid DC Republicans like Karl Rove and the Chamber of Commerce. They´re killing our country.

Well, no it´s not. A green card allowing the holder to live and work in the US for a specific period is legalization but it is lightyears from amnesty.

the definition of an honest politician is "one who STAYS bought". Apparently, we have some "honest politicians" in the Rethuglican Party. They´ve stayed bought by the big dollar donor$$ of the Chamber of Commerce and other anti-citizen cabals who are fully intent on the ruination of the nation.
This is the sort of attitude that can lead to Madame Lafarge knitting at the tumbrels as the guillotines operate. It is getting to be jacquerie time. Nothing else seems to be available, and I don´t like saying that. I thought we were better than that, and I believe that we used to be better than that. But not now. This is how a Republic falls, and ours is definitely falling. Sad.

# 7 would have us believe issuing a green card (thus a right to take a job from a legal resident) to someone who broke our laws to be here is not AMNESTY. According to # 7 CRIME DOES PAY. The pretzel logic for "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" not being AMNESTY is (and will stay) beyond my comprehension.

Wow. Horowitz is spot on here. This should be a must read.

For those who still claim that the GOP Establishment is not for amnesty, we need to define "amnesty". For me it is not only providing penalties and no current path to citizenship. For me it means granting any legal status to those illegally here.

Why? First, many of those squatters who have sneaked into our country to suck on the American teat could care less about citizenship. Second, any legal status will be immediately followed by calls from Schumer and others to eliminate "second class" status for these newly legalized residents. Translation: they must be provided a path to citizenship and access to all benefits that anyone else legally here would enjoy.

By that definition, the GOP Establishment is for amnesty.

AUSTIN, Texas -- Last weekend, Texas Governor Rick Perry defended his support for a 2001 bill that granted in-state tuition to illegal immigrants for Texas colleges and universities. As reported by Breitbart Texas, in a keynote conversation at The Texas Tribune Festival, Perry was asked directly by Texas Tribune CEO and Editor-in-Chief Evan Smith if he now believed the bill should be overturned, and Perry answered "No," also commenting, "I still think in 2001 it was the right thing to do in the state of Texas." Even though Republicans may take back the Senate by running against amnesty, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush pushed amnesty legislation while stumping for North Carolina Republican Senate candidate Thom Tillis on Wednesday. Bush, according to the New York Times, reportedly said that comprehensive immigration reform "will restore and sustain economic growth for this country." And even though a recent Gallup poll found that illegal immigration is now the top concern among Republicans, Bush said that if immigration reform is "framed in that way, I don’t think there’s a big debate in the Republican Party about the need to do this."

I know a lot of people are giddy at the prospect of Republicans taking the Senate this November, but that’s becoming less and less likely. It’s not because Democrats are rallying around a particular mission or set of candidates; it’s because Republicans and conservatives aren’t. It seems like I’m always writing on issues no one wants to hear are mistakes, such as messaging or social issues. But I don’t care. These things have to be said. If these columns are received like a gaseous cousin on a long car trip through the desert, so be it. Crack a window… If things continue on their current course, the GOP will not retake the Senate.

How can Republicans recapture the U.S. Senate from Harry Reid and the Democrats? A new Politico poll points to a winning strategy — if GOP leaders have the courage to use the remaining seven weeks to nationalize the elections around one game-changing issue. Under the headline, “GOP has edge on immigration in midterms,” Politico offered a surprising review of battleground House and Senate races. The generally liberal publication found that two-thirds of likely voters disapprove of President Obama’s handling of the issue — and that even independent voters trust the GOP over the Democrats on the subject.

For President Obama, the color of a man’s skin is far more important than the content of his character. On the night when a police officer was shot in a Missouri town torn by racial strife, the president donned a shiny tuxedo to attend a ritzy black awards dinner, where he said police nationwide are to blame for community mistrust, even claiming that “most Americans” think the country is racist.
