Va. GOP official resigns after
controversial Facebook post

Washington Post, by Jenna Portnoy

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 8/7/2014 11:19:34 AM

A Virginia GOP official who posted a message on his Facebook page that questioned whether Muslim Americans have made positive contributions to U.S. society has resigned. Bob FitzSimmonds, treasurer of the state Republican Party, distributed his resignation letter to party officials Wednesday night. “It seems that no matter how careful I might be, I will periodically give occasion for others to portray the party in a bad light, so long as I am a party official. After discussion with several party leaders it seems clear that I will either need to stop posting on social media or step down from my party

Comments:
I´m sick of the hyper political correctness destroying this country! Now it´s controversial for stating the truth?? He RIGHTFULLY asks: “Exactly what part of our nation’s fabric was woven by Muslims" after Obama´s ridiculous comment marking the end of Ramadan. It grieves me so that we no longer live in a free country. He never should have resigned.

I just had this conversation with a liberal democrat last night. She asked me what contributions Muslims had made to this country.

The Republican party is a bunch of gutless cowards.

FitzSimmons resigned because he made a very undiplomatic statement on Facebook and handed the Dhimmi party another weapon they might use.
A regular citizen can say what he wants (unless he´s a college student or Ivy League professor, of course). A party official has to watch what he says in public.
No. 2 said it best. He fell on his sword for his party. He could have done better by never signing up for Facebook or Twitter, but the past can´t be undone. (That´s unless you´re a Muslim President with friends in the Hawaiian state government and at his colleges -- then you can at least hide the past.)

Numerous contributions were made to civilization by Arabs. Unfortunately, all of them were made before the Prophet appeared. Upon his appearance, all learning not connected with him and his visions was irrelevant.

We have numerous Greek works because of their translations into Arabic. Including the five books of Euclid, need I say, And the work of al´Khorizmi, from whom we learned Algebra.
The Muslims finally completely destroyed the Great Library in Alexandria, deeming all works there to be unneeded. So don´t go looking for Muslim contributions.
There aren´t any.

The only "contribution" muslims have made to America is to clear the skyline in Manhattan by removing those two really tall buildings that were blocking the view...

I guarantee if you didn´t mention his party affiliation and just quoted his statement, nobody except for maybe a few muslims would have gotten upset. But PC rules thanks to our Demon-RAT overlords, so he had to fall on his sword for the good of the party.

While more famous for his anti-war activities as a founder of the Weather Underground in the 1960s and ‘70s, he is now a committed educator. Retired from his education professorship at the University of Illinois in Chicago, Ayers continues to give lectures to teachers in training, speak at education conferences and agitate against America’s two-tiered educational system – one for rich, one for poor – on behalf of low-income parents, students and instructors. In early June 1964, a group of Republican governors sought to wrestle control of their party from Barry Goldwater, the Arizona conservative who was about to lead the GOP to one of the most crushing defeats in its history. The governors saw a disaster in the making, and sought a moderate candidate who could capture the imaginations of grassroots Republicans—but also beat President Lyndon Johnson in the general election. Led by Ohio’s James Rhodes—the Republican Governors Association was meeting in Cleveland, and Rhodes was a legendary vote counter—the group included Pennsylvania’s William Scranton and later New York’s Nelson Rockefeller. It was once said, “religion is designed to comfort the afflicted and to afflict the comfortable.” Jesus’ parables – short stories with moral lessons – were likewise designed to afflict, to draw us in but leave us uncomfortable. These teachings can be read as being about divine love and salvation, sure. But, their first listeners – first century Jews in Galilee and Judea – heard much more challenging messages. Only when we hear the parables as Jesus’ own audience did can we fully experience their power and find ourselves surprised and challenged today. Here are four examples of Jesus’ teachings that everybody gets wrong: 1.
