Walsh on the Edge:
How Did Democrats Get There?

HELENA -- U.S. Senator John Walsh (D-MT) has canceled campaign appearances, his political life on the verge of collapse in the wake of plagiarism revelations and his responses to them. So how did Montana Democrats get to a point where, three months before an election, the top of their ticket is the subject of newspaper editorials calling for him to drop out of the race to keep his Senate seat? Here´s a quick review. Former Montana governor Brian Schweitzer was widely expected to run for the seat that had been held since 1978 by Max Baucus - and which Democrats have held since

If I remember right, the Torcelli example was not as simple as that. The Dems violated NJ law in their actions and the liberal NJ court just ignored it stating it was more important for the"people" to have a a choice than for the Dems to follow the law. They would have had a choice, but that choice would have been Torcelli and that wouldn´t work for the Dems so the liberal court came to the Dem´s rescue. Typical.

In order to be a dhimmicrat you have to be adept at lying, able to tolerate high levels of cognitive dissonance, and be of a generally low character.

The Dimbulb party is a party of lying cheats. Sometimes, they can´t fool the stupid into voting for them.

HELENA – Democratic Sen. John Walsh officially bowed out of the Montana U.S. Senate race Thursday in the wake of a plagiarism scandal that has bogged down his campaign over the past three weeks. In a statement issued Thursday afternoon Walsh said the 2007 research paper from his time at the U.S. Army War College "has become a distraction" from his campaign. Walsh was trailing Republican Congressman Steve Daines in the polls even before the New York Times revealed Walsh plagiarized significant portions of a 14-page paper required for his master´s degree. The college is conducting a review that could strip him

HELENA, Mont. (AP) - Sen. John Walsh of Montana on Tuesday postponed at least two upcoming events in Bozeman, as his campaign declined to answer questions about whether he planned to remain in the U.S. Senate race amid allegations that he plagiarized a research paper. The Walsh campaign notified Gallatin County Democratic party members that he would not attend a backyard meet-and-greet hosted by Women for Walsh that was scheduled for Wednesday or a Friday talk on public lands at the county party´s new headquarters. The campaign did not give a reason why, said Billy McWilliams, a member of the Gallatin County

Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Texas) said in an interview with the Washington Free Beacon that the “hatred and bigotry” he encountered when he was booed off the stage at a Middle Eastern Christian conference for defending Israel on Wednesday night was like nothing he has previously seen in his political career. “I’ve certainly encountered audiences that disagreed with a particular point of view. But this virulent display of hatred and bigotry was remarkable, and considerably different from anything I’ve previously encountered,” Cruz said, just a few hours after his pro-Israel speech to the In Defense of Christians conference was drowned

Scandal: Despite the administration´s claim, the CIA operatives who fought for their lives and others´ from a rooftop say that a stand-down order may have cost four Americans their lives while their ignoring it saved others. (Snip)There was even a second stand-down order, according to the trio in their book, "13 Hours: The Inside Account of What Really Happened in Benghazi," written with Mitchell Zuckoff. After Tiegen insisted they had to leave right away, "Bob" told them to "hold up" because "we´re going to let the local militia handle it." It was an incredible order, one telling Americans not to

WASHINGTON--US President Barack Obama will tell the American people on Wednesday night that he plans to order strikes against Islamic State forces in both Syria and Iraq until the group is ultimately destroyed. The president´s plan includes additional support for opposition militias in Syria vetted by the United States, which will serve as a ground force complementing America´s air campaign. [Snip] The "comprehensive strategy," as described by one White House official, will involve "US military action and support for the forces combating ISIL [Islamic State] on the ground–both the opposition in Syria and a new, inclusive Iraqi government."

As we suspected, President Obama tried in his Wednesday-night speech to make it sound like he was doing something new when he, in fact, he is not. Moreover, in describing his response, he made plain that he doesn’t take the threat to the homeland seriously. For a threat his advisers say is greater than that posed by al-Qaeda after 2001, he proposed measures suitable for Yemen and Somalia. No, really — that’s the plan. For starters, the president doesn’t believe the Islamic State is a current threat to the U.S.: “So ISIL poses a threat to the people of Iraq

Rarely has a president faced a greater challenge in establishing his credibility for a new foreign-policy move than Barack Obama did in his nationally televised speech tonight. A CNN poll earlier this week found that just 30 percent of voters thought Obama had presented a clear plan for fighting the Islamic State. While Obama now pledges to ask Congress to train and aid Syrian rebels who would fight the group, voters remember that he backed similar plans in Syria in 2013, when his advisers saw Syrian president Bashar Assad as the major threat. The new Fox News poll out today has more

A new report from NBC claims that President Obama couldn´t get a tee time during a recent visit to New York. So he packed up and went home (before returning to New York the next night for a private wedding). "President Obama was turned down at several top golf courses in Westchester while he was visiting the area over Labor Day weekend, sources tell NBC 4 New York," the report states. "Club managers apparently did not want to inconvenience their high-powered and high-paying members over Labor Day weekend by shutting down their courses to accommodate the president. President Obama just announced that he is bringing a counter-terrorism strategy to an insurgency fight. He was at pains to repeat the phrase “counter-terror” four times in a short speech. Noting that ISIL is not a state (partly because the international community thankfully does not recognize it), he declared, “ISIL is a terrorist organization, pure and simple. And it has no vision other than the slaughter of all who stand in its way.” Neither of those sentences, unfortunately, is true. ISIL is an insurgent group that controls enormous territory in Iraq and Syria that it governs. It maneuvers conventional light

Throughout his presidency, President Obama has emphasized one point while talking about Islamist extremists: They are not practicing Islam, he has said, they are perverting it. He took that a step further Wednesday night. While announcing that he´s expanding the campaign against the Islamic State extremist group into Syria, Obama said flatly that this group, which is trying to install a caliphate in the Middle East, "is not Islamic." He didn´t say they are perverting their religion; he said they´re not even part of that religion. "No religion condones the killing of innocents, and the vast majority of [the Islamic State´s] victims

He will start Wednesday night as President Barack Obama makes a prime-time statement about the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, Sam Feist, CNN´s Washington bureau chief said in a statement. Tonight, exactly one year after Barack Obama strode to a microphone in the East Room of the White House to make a prime-time televised address to the nation on "what to do about Syria", the US president is preparing once again to do…just that. Even by the tortured standards of Mr Obama, the 2013 address was a truly dismal affair in which the President could be heard arguing with himself over his own non-response to the Assad regime´s use of chemical weapons. [Snip] So a year on, where has that "diplomatic path" taken us? For a start, the killing in

Nearly six years into a presidency devoted to ending U.S. wars in the Muslim world, President Obama faced the nation Wednesday night to explain why he has decided to engage in a new one. Obama did not describe his authorization of direct military action to defeat the Islamic State terror group as a conventional war. To the contrary, in a prime-time address from the White House, he sharply contrasted his use of targeted but limited American force with the large-scale air-and-ground invasions launched by his predecessor, George W. Bush. “This effort will be different from the wars in Iraq and
