With immigration reform, President
Obama takes cue from Lincoln

Washington Post, by Charles Lane

Original Article

Posted By:garnet, 8/7/2014 9:44:21 AM

Not since Abraham Lincoln pondered his Emancipation Proclamation in 1862 has a president considered ordering a more sweeping adjustment to membership in the American community than the mass relief for illegal immigrants that President Obama is said to be contemplating. There is obviously no analogy between slavery and the disadvantages the undocumented face today. Among many other differences, the undocumented arrived voluntarily, searching, often successfully, for a better life. Also, they established residence unlawfully, for which there must be some reckoning.

Slavery is involuntary. Illegal aliens are volunteering to come to the US. Slavery was enforced labor. Illegal immigrants get lots of free stuff like education, medical care, and food without having to do any work.

The comparison here is that Obama is like Lincoln would have been if Lincoln had been a lazy foolish hack politician.

Nope - - no analogy whatsoever - - but Chuckles will make one anyway - - just to compare his messiah to Lincoln.

Anyone who thinks the leftist media will get sick of Stinky is a delusional fool. There are - - and will always be - - chumps like Chuckles who will drool all over the Stinkster no matter how evil and incompetent he shows himself.

These leftists are not only fools - - they are evil fools.

It´s funny how you can come to lucianne.com and see very quickly what was in the daily marching order fax from the DNC to their minions in the MSM the previous day.

This is the third or fourth article I have found either praising Øvomit for his "brave stand on immigration", or attacking Republicans for being evil and heartless to the "poor immigrant children".

You would think they would tell the big MSM players to space them out over a week, not put them all out in the same 1-2 days...

Some things never change. Slavery was what the Democrat party was/is and now the Democrat party is the illegal invasion party. In both cases the Democrats want slaves/illegals they can control to do the hard dirty work. By invoking the first Republician the WP is trying to give their slave party some moral standing to confuse their mis-informed readers.

It is impossible to resist dissecting the first sentence of this article to reveal the liberal bias. This is too much fun:

Not since Abraham Lincoln pondered his Emancipation Proclamation in 1862...

We are comparing freeing the slaves to legalizing millions of illegal immigrants who are not slaves and who shouldn´t be here?

...has a president considered ordering a more sweeping adjustment to membership in the American community...

I see. An illegal act of declaring amnesty for millions of people who will be paid for by our taxes, and surreptitiously slipped into every suburb and city in America by the gov´t itself, is a "sweeping adjustment to membership" in America. Wow. Even I am impressed with that kind of pretzeling.

... than the mass relief for illegal immigrants...

"Relief" is not what is going on. What is going on is a deliberate end-run around Congress by declaring Amnesty in order to amass Democrat votes.

... that President Obama is said to be contemplating.

He may be contemplating it, but unless GOP fingerprints are on it when it causes massive upheaval in the American system, will he actually go it alone, knowing that only he will be to blame?

And that´s just the first sentence.

Then there is this:

The ideological concept behind Obama’s grand slicing of the Gordian knot of immigration, if he attempts it, would be akin to that which drove Lincoln’s action: the president as liberator.

No, that is not accurate. He does not care about "liberating" these people from their homeland slums and political oppression. Obama has one goal for these people, one single ideology: He wants Democrat votes from them so that the Republican (white) Party will be gone for good.

Chuck really had to contort reality to attribute such lofty intent to Obama´s clearly Marxist ideology. He should never have attempted this death-defying leap without a net.

1. The Emancipation Proclamation was an absolute political document. Lincoln´s war was going abysmally and there was huge anti-war sentiment in the North. He needed to do something to shore up his political footing, thus his Emancipation Proclamation. It was a document that only affected "states in rebellion". Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland and Missouri, slave states that did not leave the Union, were unaffected and slavery was legal in those states until the passage of the 13th Amendment.

2. The 13th Amendment also has some interesting history. Lincoln, in his bid to prevent the Southern States (i.e. the States filling the Federal Government´s coffers from import and export tariffs) from leaving the Union, proposed a 13th Amendment that would guarantee for perpetuity, slavery in those states where it was legal.

Leading in polls, third-party Senate candidate Greg Orman is walking a delicate tightrope in his Kansas campaign: He´s running as an independent while Democrats hope he bolsters their chances of retaining their Senate majority. That tenuous balance is evident in the way he staffs up and in the groups who are supporting him. The main super PAC supporting his campaign has sounded unusually partisan notes, posting comments about preventing a "right-wing takeover" of the Senate and touting Orman´s ability to get Democrats to "coalesce" behind him. Go to a grocery store in California and buy all the milk, eggs and vegetables you want. But there’s one thing you won’t find at the checkout line, beginning July 1, 2015: Plastic bags to carry your stuff home. Gov. Shoppers will be charged 10 cents for every paper bag and heavy-duty plastic bag they use. “This bill is a step in the right direction,” Brown said in a press release announcing his approval. “It

A year ago this week, Healthcare.gov launched and set a new standard for costly technological disasters. The portal for obtaining private insurance under Obamacare proved completely impenetrable for consumers in its first two months. The constant error messages, glitches and outages became fodder for late night comics, but the Americans forced to interact with the site after Obamacare pushed them out of coverage they already liked were not amused. A year later, most of Obamacare´s outwardly noticeable technological frustrations are gone. Even though the law remains as unpopular as ever — at 25 percent support among U.S. adults, according to the latest

Lay aside for now all of the arguments that can be made about the weaknesses of catastrophic climate change predictions. In fact, for purposes of discussion, let’s assume that the worst-case scenario is likely to come true. The paradox of climate change is exactly this: the more serious the problem, the more implausible are the remedies of the environmental community. That’s what ought to make the climate campaigners realize that last weekend’s mega-march in New York City represents the dead-end for their cause. Truly we can invoke that overused cliché that climate change has “jumped the shark.” Here’s why: From the

A much smaller group —16 percent — wants to see it repealed but not replaced. So, with a conservative alternative in play, 60 percent of Americans support repeal, while only 32 percent oppose it.McLaughlin & Associates asked 1,000 likely voters
