Rick Perlstein: Probable
Plagiarist, Definite Jerk

National Review Online, by Tim Cavanaugh

Original Article

As National Review’s Quin Hillyer noted yesterday, aging wunderkind Rick Perlstein is in hot water over 45 instances of apparent plagiarism from Craig Shirley’s 2005 Reagan’s Revolution in his new book The Invisible Bridge. Shirley is a contributor to NR whose book takes a favorable view of Ronald Reagan’s abortive 1976 primary challenge; Perlstein is a leftist who specializes in explaining the self-deluded psychodrama of conservatives — and the unique danger it poses — for liberal readers. You can guess which book has been praised in the Times of New York for being “both enjoyable as kaleidoscopic popular history of

These mindless Liberals want Communism, so then, why don´t they move to RUSSIA or CHINA instead of trying to make ANOTHER nation COMMIE? I personally believe they are out of their minds and anyone who listens to them are equally crazy.

Obama Ditches Presidency
to Become Commentator-in-Chief
Breitbart National Security, by Ben Shapiro    Original Article

On Sunday, The New York Times revealed that President Obama seems to be feeling criticism from those who believe his foreign policy has fallen to shambles. “He’s definitely feeling it,” one guest said to the Times. The paper reported, “It was clear to guests how aware Mr. Obama was of the critics who have charged him with demonstrating a lack of leadership. He brought up the criticism more than once with an edge of resentment in his voice.” And yet the same Times piece depicted a president entirely unwilling to accept that he has ever made any mistakes, or that

Obama As ISIS Adviser?

In a somewhat bizarre snippet from a New York Times account of Obama´s prelude to war with ISIS, we find this strange bit of advice for ISIS from the Commander-in-Chief himself. The Times fails to point out that it makes no sense, while also betraying Obama´s lack of leadership. But the president said he had already been headed toward a military response before the men’s deaths. He added that ISIS had made a major strategic error by killing them because the anger it generated resulted in the American public’s quickly backing military action. If he had been “an adviser to ISIS,”

House Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi told “Real Time” host Bill Maher that Democrats are not “fear-mongers” but in the same breath said civilization is doomed if Republicans manage to take control of the Senate in November. “It would be very important for the Democrats to retain control of the Senate,” the California Democrat told Mr. Maher on his show Friday night, which aired live from Washington. “Civilization as we know it today would be in jeopardy if Republicans win the Senate.” Mr. Maher pointed out that voter turnout will most likely lean to the right saying, “Nobody comes out

A clarifying moment in the history of the far left. Since 2009, the US has gone to war in Libya, Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, and the odd military action in Nigeria - all without specific congressional authorization And yet, the anti-war movement - who never met a policy by President Bush that they didn´t turn out in massive numbers to protest - has remained dead silent in the face of a massive expansion of another war in Iraq (or maybe it´s the same one) and Syria. The Boston Herald´s Howie Carr noticed this too: It’s all very confusing. When George W. Bush considered invading Iraq without a declaration of war, the Democrats

Comedian Bill Maher announced Friday night that he will personally target Republican Rep. John Kline (Minn.) for defeat in the November election -- the culmination of his longstanding "Flip a District" contest in which the HBO host allowed his viewers to pick which Republican he would attempt to unseat. The final four were Kline and Reps. Blake Farenthold (R-Tex.), Mike Coffman (R-Colo.) and Renee Ellmers (R-N.C.). Maher made the announcement Friday from his show in Washington, D.C. Maher in 2012 donated $1 million to the super PAC devoted to reelecting President Obama, so it´s clear he puts his money

Glitch in health care law

Washington Post, by Jay Hancock    Original Article

A flaw in the federal calculator for certifying that insurance meets the health law’s toughest standard is leading dozens of large employers to offer plans that lack basic benefits such as hospitalization coverage, according to brokers and consultants. The calculator appears to allow companies enrolling workers for 2015 to offer inexpensive, substandard medical insurance while avoiding the Affordable Care Act’s penalties, consumer advocates say. Insurance pros are also surprised such plans are permitted. Employer insurance without hospital coverage “flies in the face of Obamacare,” said Liz Smith, president of employee benefits for Assurance, an Illinois-based insurance brokerage. At the same

Obama´s ´Now Watch This Drive´
Moment A Political Tipping Point
Breitbart Big Government, by Mike Flynn    Original Article

In politics, gallons of ink and countless hours of argument and debate can be swept aside or solidified by a single inflection point. Carter battling the "killer rabbit," Reagan thundering that he "paid for this mic" or Bush prematurely swaggering beneath a "mission accomplished" sign cemented voter perceptions far more than countless opinion writers or pundits were able to achieve. Moments like these define a Presidency. Obama´s moment came as he reached for a driver, moments after speaking to the world about the beheading of American journalist James Foley. For years, pundits argued that Obama was preternaturally aloof and detached.

Do not dare challenge the Masters of the Universe, the Party of Davos, or the Permanent Political Class with facts. After Sen. "Outright slander from an odious hack," Andreessen Tweeted on Thursday evening. "Mark has directly & indirectly created 10s, maybe 100s, of thousands of US jobs." He implied that

There’s an old line that environmentalists are “watermelons”—green on the outside, red on the inside. A lot of environmentalists will take great offense if you say this: No no! We like economic growth and capitalism just fine! We just want it to be “sustainable,” whatever that means. And don’t ask for specificity about what “sustainability” means in detail, unless you have a lot of time and a full bottle of hootch handy. Before long you’ll figure out that “sustainable” is just a code word for green things we like, and that it has no rigor whatsoever aside from old-fashioned factor-efficiency,

Arab coalition behind Obama not quite clear

President Obama’s plan to defeat Islamic State terrorists contains weak links, from the unreliable Syrian rebels who must do the fighting on the ground to suspicion in key Arab states that Mr. Obama lacks the resolve for a long-term campaign, analysts said Thursday. The strategy, which Mr. Obama outlined in a prime-time address Wednesday night, relies heavily on arming moderate Syrian rebels, combined with U.S. air power, to rout the militants in their own backyard. Some of the training for the rebels would be provided by Saudi Arabia, which agreed to a U.S. request this week to provide a base

Trying to uproot and destroy the Islamic State’s army of terrorists in Iraq without American ground troops, as President Obama promoted Wednesday night, is doomed to failure, national security experts say. At the least, the president needs to get ground troops closer to the fight, say some politicians and analysts. He should introduce special operations units to advise and join the Iraqis on hunt-and-kill missions against Islamic State leaders, as well as insert controllers to point out targets for warplanes. “What a waste of time,” said Larry Johnson, a former CIA analyst and counterterrorism official at the State Department. “We

Even someone as savvy about everything as Michelle Obama sometimes flubs an outfit — or to put it more politely, wears something that doesn’t enhance her natural attractions. Which is not to say that’s all that matters about the first lady, who’s been busy with a variety of public events this week: registering voters in Georgia, cutting the ribbon on the renovated White House Visitors Center, commemorating the 9/11 terrorist attacks, even appearing in a videotaped shout-out to Prince Harry. Take a look at what she wore for all that. A little too full for her figure? (Photographs).. A flattering

This week, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) slandered a group of Middle Eastern Christians who were trying to raise awareness of their struggle to avoid a genocide in the Middle East. His cynical grandstanding was rightly condemned — but he was hardly alone. Cruz agreed to speak to this group, which included bishops of the Catholic and Orthodox Churches, ostensibly out of solidarity, but took the occasion to antagonize them over their insufficient praise for Israel, then smeared them as anti-Semites before dropping the mic. The Washington Free Beacon publicized this flameout — their publisher said the room

Voter turnout during last month´s primary races was a little too good in some counties, Arizona elections officials said Friday. Some precincts in northern Arizona tallied more ballots cast than there are registered voters, the Arizona Capitol Times reported. According to officials, errors made by poll workers and elections officials in Apache and Navajo counties led to the miscalculations. Initial reports from some precincts showed a turnout of anywhere from 200 to 400 percent. In Apache County, the Puerco West precinct reportedly had 100 votes cast, but only 23 voters are registered there. The voter turnout added up to 434

Let’s start with the end. When it’s over — when you make it through the marathon that is Ken Burns’s beautiful, seven-part documentary “The Roosevelts: An Intimate History,” which begins Sunday night on PBS — you may find yourself with a lingering, nebulous grief. You’re sorry it’s over. You’re sorry they’re over. You’re sorry a certain expression of American ideals is, or often appears to be, completely over. My study habits haven’t improved since college; like an idiot, I put off watching all 14 hours of “The Roosevelts” until I absolutely had to watch them on a deadline binge this week.

Washington - Were it any other US president in recent memory, delivering a rousing White House address promising to "vanquish" the bloodthirsty militants of the Islamic State from the face of the earth would be dismissed as the "easy part". Recall Joe Biden, the vice president with half an eye on a run for the top job in 2016, promising to follow Isil "to the gates of hell" after the beheading of a second US journalist, and you get the picture of just how easy it can be. Former President Bill Clinton railed against Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Sunday and framed the midterm elections as more broadly about defining “the terms in which we will relate to each other and relate to the rest of the world.” Speaking at Sen.
