Ebola Doc´s Condition Downgraded
to ´Idiotic´

Townhall, by Ann Coulter

Original Article

I wonder how the Ebola doctor feels now that his humanitarian trip has cost a Christian charity much more than any services he rendered. What was the point? Whatever good Dr. Kent Brantly did in Liberia has now been overwhelmed by the more than $2 million already paid by the Christian charities Samaritan´s Purse and SIM USA just to fly him and his nurse home in separate Gulfstream jets, specially equipped with medical tents, and to care for them at one of America´s premier hospitals. (This trip may be the first real-world demonstration of the economics of Obamacare.) There´s little danger of an

Ann Coulter just lost a sizable chunk of her fan base. Taking on a doctor who has given his career to fight disease in the third world? Really? Who is her next target? David Livingstone? Albert Schweitzer? Mother Teresa?

I wouldn´t have said it that way, but I see her point. Though I disagree with her comments on the doctor, the conclusion she comes to at the end is sadly true. Christians are being chased from America by the PC police. Here, they are mocked and seen as messing with the wise, educated big government´s affairs but in Africa they are seen as doing good because the poor ol´ uneducated Africans can´t even pull off a big socialist government properly. Liberals are so patronizing and I do appreciate that Ann has never had a problem pointing that out.

The 12 apostles didn´t all hang around Palestine after Christ´s death and resurrection.. They went on daring journeys to other lands to spread the gospel. The same is true today. People go serve where they feel led to serve, and where their message is welcomed. While I wasn´t crazy about 2 ebola patients coming into the US, everything fell into place so they could return and be cared for.

I adore Ann Coulter and there is some logic in her column. But those two doctors went there to help. Which makes them good people in my book. AIDS started in Africa and eventually made it here. Although these doctors are totally quarantined and Ebola isn´t going to be spread by them it may get here by other means. Researching it is time well spent. Like AIDS, it´s fatal and there is no serum.

I fully support Coulter on this, 100%.

I happen to know why so many religious orgs do so much overseas and very little here at home. It has two main reasons.

First, It is nearly impossible to track expenditures on overseas operations - short answer- It is a money laundering method that lets the religious orgs keep huge amounts of cash collected in the USA and dump in foreign banks. I am not speculating on this. It was shown to me by an ex-pastor for an evangelical operation set up specifically to do this. He said, "Selling Jesus is the highest profit and lowest overhead operation in America. And it is all legal."

Second reason: It is super easy to give to someone overseas because they can not come crawling back to you for more. You go help them a little, feel good about it, get to brag how wonderful your operation is and leave and the story ends!

This was related to me by a guy making huge dollars from it. He said, "If you give to your next door neighbor, you have to look them in their pleading eyes every single day. By going overseas, we do as much as we want and that´s that. Their pleading eyes are thousands of miles away. We call it, "Feed ´em and forget ´em" "

He had been a high placed member of one of the thousands of home grown "churches" built specifically to rake in the tax exempt dollars. Said he got to feeling bad about what they were doing and also he was afraid the Feds were moving in on them so quit while he was ahead and never looked back.

Christians have gone forth into the world to spread the Good News as long as there have been Christians. They have served as doctors, historians, teachers, and in other capacities as they have spread the faith. Ann Coulter needs to spend some time reading the New Testament.

This reads like a parody by someone who hacked Coulter´s account. It is vile. Christians serve. Period. They are called. Period. They take risks because that´s what Christians do and have done since Jesus and his martyrs followed him. It has nothing to do with economics or politics. Practice your own faith however you want, Ann. Leave those called alone and safe from your acidic tongue.

There are charities & there are charities.

Some are largely secular & that´s ok, but whatever they do or don´t do -- it´s not on Christianity. Even if that´s what started them decades ago (like the Red Cross, Goodwill, et al).

Then there are church missionary work. Some overseen by mainstream denomination authorities, some rogue/independent. #13 -- Your experience sounds like the latter. That doesn´t make the majority of charities like that. There is always going to be graft/greed in any multi-group effort because we are humans with faults & oversight may slip. But the Feds do catch on many times, and often so do the people who fund these orgs.

The handful of television evangelists we see on religious stations (who also mostly fall into the latter category) are not the majority of Christian missionary work.
The Salvation Army captains (pastors) & their families practically take a vow of poverty for life. As do most catholic missionaries. Baptist, Presbyterian, Episcopalian & Methodists have pretty close scrutiny by their convention´s missions departments. That counts for 90% of these efforts to help others. And it goes on here in America too. I shudder to think where we´d be if these & local church Benevolence funds stopped.

Helping with the Ebola disease overseas can only help us. Right now, it has a 90% kill rate. 10% live if they catch it very early or a few were crazy healthy. I don´t like every single position Ann takes (like when she pushed Romney on us), but I like Ann.

My great grandfather, my sister, 2 nieces and a nephew were/are missionaries in West Africa. They believed the Biblical command was, "Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel," and NOT, "After you´ve evangelized your own country, then you´re free to spread the Gospel of Christ to those who´ve never yet heard."

Because of their various ministries in Africa as pastors, nurses, teachers, builders, workers, hundreds and hundreds of Africans are now followers of Christ, lives are changed, schools are full, churches have overflow crowds, clinics are packed. Their calling was sure, their ministries were God-blessed.

With 167 churches here in the city in which I live, how can we in good conscience keep the life-changing power of Christ all to ourselves when needy people all over Africa are begging for a chance to hear about Him?

The gangly bespectacled leader of the peaceful protest megawave wasn´t even born when the Berlin Wall fell or Tiananmen Square´s democracy protesters were massacred by China´s communists in 1989. The assertion implies three things: Venezuelans are happy; Venezuelans buy; Venezuelans buy as necessary. All that is a vision of success, we infer, in socialism. For 16 years, all that Venezuelans have heard is that, whereas, in fact, they face the same mess, aggravated though, that has become Venezuela. The slogan of the government officer who refers to happy Venezuelans buying as necessary also implies that happiness can be reached very easily: going to the supermarket and buying as necessary.
