‘Serious limitations’: Gov’t watchdogs
unite in letter slamming Obama
administration transparency

Fox News, by Mike Emanuel

Original Article

Posted By:ruready?, 8/6/2014 5:24:00 PM

Dozens of government watchdogs are sounding the alarm that the Obama administration is stonewalling them, in what is being described as an unprecedented challenge to the agencies they´re supposed to oversee. Forty-seven of the government´s 73 independent watchdogs known as inspectors general voiced their complaints in a letter to congressional leaders this week. They accused several major agencies -- the Justice Department, the Peace Corps and the chemical safety board -- of imposing "serious limitations on access to records." The inspectors general are now appealing to Congress to help them do their jobs uncovering waste, fraud, and mismanagement.

Does anyone really believe that this current Congress will do anything about the complaints from the IGs? The Democrats in Congress will stonewall any efforts to help the IGs and the complaints will just get bogged down in committees. Why even have IGs? The Democrats and obama just run them off when they discover any fraud or waste! The IGs are just window dressing for us lesser types.

The watchdogs also claimed the EPA´s inspector general had problems getting documents from the Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board for a separate investigation.

While certainly not the only transgression listed in this excellent article, it is the most troubling to me, because it is the EPA who can do the most damage in individual and business situations; they can delay or ignore permits to build more power plants (nuclear, in particular, which we should have), they can declare private property "wetlands" or other such nonsense, they can confiscate private property because it harms the Whale Farter or other endangered species, they can shut down coal mines, manufacturing plants, farms, power grids, oil producers....

The EPA is dangerous as it now stands. If the EPA´s own IG can´t get info, what is being hidden?

Taken together with the other agita gov´t watchdogs are experiencing getting info from this Administration, the unprecedented nature of this letter sends red flags waving and alarm bells blaring.

Until the Obama Admnistration came along, whenever a Congressional Committe Chairman or IG asked for agency records, they received those records unredacted. If there was information that warranted protection such as home addresses, credit card info, attirney work porduct, classified information, etc - the recipient was warned to handle appropriately and the IG and oversight committees have an official need to know. By providing redacted documents to these Committees and IGs, you´re basically treating these entities as no better than a FOIA requester.

#9, you are exactly right. I know it gets old blaming the media, but it lies directly in their lap. Brit Hume once said that there will never be a scandal until the media makes the event/action a scandal. With this Administral, the media not only don´t do investigative reporting, but actually coverup, ignore or provide excuses for its actions. Without the media, the Dems can always point to congressional Repubs investigations as "partisan". The media is totally unethical.

Remember Gerald Walpin, IG of CNCS, who blew the whistle on theft of $750,000 from Americorps, and pinned it on Kevin Johnson, Obama supporter? Walpin was accused of "psychological instability."

Why do I get this horrible feeling whenever I read comments around here anymore that apathy and surrender has infected the L.com family?? I get this feeling that people have just given up and they are all saying, "oh well...what did you expect?" or "hey, you voted for him...now live with it--you made your bed now lie in it"

...Argh!!!!

Maybe it might do some good if we all are constantly on the horn everyday making our voices heard to those who actually CAN take action against this corrupt administration... How about that for starters? It would be nice if some of us started taking to the streets and educating and organizing the public into taking action too! I will be happy to get on a corner and start handing out flyers and telling people the truth.

Wake up folks! We need to ALL take action and make our outrage heard!!

Is this REALLY a surprise to anybody? If it is, you need to fix the Venetian blinds mounted to the inside of your belly button because they´re broken closed. Or, you could pull your head out.

And let me guess what will happen with all this. Rush, Beck, Hannity, ad infinitum will light their listener´s hair on fire ("I´ll take the next caller after this important message from LifeLock"), the Depends wearers in the House will wrinkle their brows in concern before the cameras during the resultant hearings over this and the 37 letter writing government watchdogs will lose their jobs and their careers will be destroyed, rinse repeat. Gosh, how do I know that? Hey, I know!!! After the whistle blowers have absolutely no one to help them when they lose their jobs or are demoted to the basement, we can treat them like us vets and thank them for their service!!! It won´t pay their bills but it will sure make us feel patriotic and helpful! YEAH!

It would be different if there were just a couple of items that have people pulling their hair out. That is not the case. Not a day goes by without some new anti-American issue being thrown out there there by this administration. It gets overwhelming. Just what they want. If you were to write a letter of complaint, it would be one hundred pages long, and sound like you were making things up.

The artificial sweeteners that are widely seen as a way to combat obesity and diabetes could, in part, be contributing to the global epidemic of these conditions. Sugar substitutes such as saccharin might aggravate these metabolic disorders by acting on bacteria in the human gut, according to a study published by Nature this week. Smaller studies have previously purported to show an association between the use of artificial sweeteners and the occurrence of metabolic disorders. This is the first work to suggest that sweeteners might be exacerbating metabolic disease, and that this might

ATLANTA — Texas, America’s second-most populous state behind California, saw 13 of its last abortion clinics turn away women on Friday, after a federal appeals court upheld a law that practically guarantees that only a handful of clinics will remain open in the state. The strictest-of-its-kind Texas law requires abortion providers to build hospital-grade facilities and obtain sometimes impossible-to-get hospital admitting privileges. After signed into law last year by Gov. Rick Perry (R), the law forced most of the 41 clinics operating to close.
