Benghazi probe presses

CNN, by Dierdre Walsh

The GOP-led House Select Committee on the Benghazi terror attack shows no sign of backing down despite a report from another congressional panel that, according to a top Democrat, found no intelligence failures around the deadly 2012 assault. "There is more work to be done and more to be investigated," a spokeswoman for House Select Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy told CNN on Wednesday. Shortly before beginning its August recess, the House Intelligence Committee, also led by Republicans, approved its report on the militant attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound in eastern Libya that killed Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans. This is outrageous. A Top Democrat has claimed that there was no failure of intelligence and just a brief blip as Susan Rice appears on 7 news shows blaming some weird video for a fully planned terrorist attack on Americans. Meanwhile Gowdy has the gall to continue his investigation. CNN will be forced into refusing to discuss it - while the rest of the country watches Fox News.

This report pertained *only* to the committee findings about *intelligence* failures, and concluded that although intelligence was aware of heightened threats they did not have specific information prior to the attack. I didn´t read anything that suggested the committee has drawn any conclusions about Hillary, Obama or any individuals involved.
But, once again, the Demos know how to set up the Pubbies: Get a favorable report on *any* Benghazi subject out there before the midterms and then accuse Gowdy of wasting taxpayers money by continuing a witch hunt. The GOP should know better and should have insisted that no reports be released until the investigation is completely finished. Snookered again!

The video excuse was because of a flawed process? Well if preparing the excuse before Benghazi even happened then using it even though you knew it was bogus and you also knew who the perpetrators actually were and the nature of their attacks can be called a flawed process then yes. But it looks suspiciously like bald faced CYA political lying compounded with elements of propaganda to hide purposeful wrong doing. But hey, at this point what does it matter?

I can´t believe this justification of the Benghazi failure:

"Our investigation found the intelligence community warned about an increased threat environment, but did not have specific tactical warning of an attack before it happened," Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger, the senior Democrat on the intelligence panel, said in a statement after its vote.

One doesn´t need "specific tactical warning" if one has and "increased threat environment" and does nothing about it. What kind of twisted justification for inertia is that?

Ruppersberger said the finding is "consistent with testimony that the attacks appeared to be opportunistic."

"Opportunistic" as in caused by an anti-Muslim video that no one saw?

According to Ruppersberger, this just happened, as Hillary intimated, by "a couple of guys walking along" one night who just decided on the spur of the moment to burn down our Embassy (with heavy weaponry) and kill our Ambassador and three other Americans.

Geez.

The president promises to lawlessly amnesty millions of illegal aliens on his own say-so, enabling them to get work cards, Social Security numbers, driver’s licenses, EITC, foreign travel documents, and the rest. But there are executive powers that he really does possess that he’s not using. Senator Sessions has helpfully provided a number of “lawful, constitutional executive actions” that the president should already be undertaking but isn’t: Complete the border fence that Congress has previously passed into law; Create the exit-entry system to track foreign visa-holders, which Congress has repeatedly mandated; Cancel visas to any country that won’t take back its own citizens; Stop

With Ebola making its way to the United States, people are rushing to find more information on the deadly disease. The Centers for Disease Control released a new chart on how contagious Ebola is compared to other diseases. The results may surprise you, according to IJReview. What you’re seeing is an evaluation of how contagious the Ebola virus actually is compared to previous epidemics, namely: Hepatitis C, HIV, SARS, Mumps, and Measles. As Michaeleen Doucleff reported, these little icons of pink and red people reflect the disease’s relative R0 or R(nought) scores. The red person is the disease carrier, and the pink people

And now there is a second possible case, someone having contact with Thomas Duncan, the first U.S. case of Ebola. Thomas Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reassures us, “I have no doubt that we’ll stop this in its tracks in the U.S.” President Obama also told us two weeks ago that “the chances of an Ebola outbreak here in the United States are extremely low.” Tell that to the 100 Texans who

Commencement speeches can be amusing, inspiring or, in the worst (some would say even the best) case, a bit dull. Schools tend to choose corporate CEOs, politicians and celebrities to send off the graduating class with a speech meant to give graduates a glimpse of what they can achieve if they work hard in the years that lie before them. Goddard College, a small liberal arts school in Plainfield, Vt., wanted a different kind of speaker. The graduating class chose a cop killer. The U.S. economy added 248,000 jobs in September, and the unemployment rate dropped to 5.9 percent. But the labor force participation rate continued to fall, average hourly earnings seem frozen, and over 13 percent of workers are either out of work, involuntarily working part time or too discouraged to keep hunting for jobs, and 20 percent of teenagers are out of work. In short, two cheers for the latest report, but hold the champagne. It’s called dereliction of duty when one knowingly dismisses the faithful execution of his or her prescribed duties in fulfilling their responsibility. I said so Monday evening with Greta von Susteren, and will continue to do so. And if anything represents “high crimes and misdemeanors” it’s the dereliction of duty that has resulted in the deaths of Americans – by beheadings. Furthermore, it is a dereliction of duty that has placed the national security of the United States of America at risk.
