To fight the Islamic State,
Kurdish and Iraqi forces need
expedited aid

Washington Post, by Zalmay Khalilzad

During the past few days, the extremist group known as the Islamic State has made significant advances. After consolidating its gains since the fall of Mosul and other Sunni areas, the group sought to move toward Baghdad. For now, that advance has been blocked by Shiite militias, what remains of the Iraqi forces and assistance from Iran and the United States. It is evident, however, that the Islamic State has amassed enough manpower and resources to move against the Kurdish region. Its recent attempt to take over the Mosul dam as well as its seizure of the city of Sinjar

It seems Iran could send in the Republican Guard and finish the Iran/Iraq War.

Last week Obama denied aid to the Kurds - because the request had to come through the government of Iraq.

Now that they joined forces - let´s see what excuse he´ll use.

Obama rejects Kurds’ plea for help against ISIS

Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, the Obama administration has rejected Kurdish pleas for arms with which to fight ISIS. Its rationale is that assistance must come through the central government.

My Interview with Jeb Bush
Washington Post, by Jennifer Rubin    Original Article

A former GOP governor is traveling extensively, speaks passionately about the lack of presidential leadership, is conversant in foreign policy and has a comprehensive vision for domestic reform. A presidential contender? Well, that is what everyone wants to know about Jeb Bush. Sitting in his educational foundation’s offices in Washington, Bush is animated and – if you think this has political implications – looks thinner than I have seen him over the past couple of years. No, he didn’t say whether he has decided to run for president, but he gave every appearance of being ready and capable of doing so

Bad News For GOP 2016 Presidential Run?

Electoral-Vote.com, the site that analyzes political races based on the "poll of the day" (or an aggregate of polls if more than one for a particular race comes out on the same day) has good news for the GOP. Its current map for the senate has the Republicans up 51 to the Dem´s 48, with Kansas "tied" (which is how they get around having an independent in the lead there at the moment.)

Sen. Ted Cruz wants to make sure nothing happens during the post-election lame duck. Not government funding, immigration reform or anything else of significant stature. Seizing on a delayed House vote on a bill that would fund the government through Dec. 11, Cruz on Wednesday publicly lobbied House Republicans to rewrite their spending bill so that it expires during the next Congress rather than the lame duck. And in a separate letter addressed to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), Cruz and Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) pledged to object to swift consideration of “any non-emergency, substantial and controversial legislation, nominations,

The midterm elections are a few months away and politicians should be worried, at least about the small business vote, according to a new poll from Manta, the online community for small businesses. According to the survey of 1,511 small business owners, 81% of respondents who plan to vote in the midterm elections intend to throw their support behind a challenger. While the Republican Party has typically been viewed as the biggest supporter of small business, only 32% think so right now, marking a 22% decline since 2012. The Democrats aren’t immune to the dissatisfaction either. Manta’s survey shows 26% don’t

Why Interest Rates

A sharp debate within the Federal Reserve over when to raise interest rates was publicly aired last week at the annual central bankers’ conference in Jackson Hole, Wyo. On one side is a small yet vocal minority of Fed officials who want to head off inflation by raising rates sooner rather than later. On the other is a majority that thinks a near-term rate hike would stifle growth and, with it, any chance of restoring health to the labor market. That group includes Janet Yellen, the Fed’s chairwoman, and most members of the Fed’s policy committee. Continue reading the main story Related

My blood is still boiling over the recent murder by beheading of an American citizen at the hands of the terrorist group ISIL, or ISIS, or whatever these murderous fools call themselves. Their real name is EVIL. I listened to the president last week as he appropriately conveyed Americans’ revulsion at this savage act and our grief at the Foley family’s loss. As usual, the president’s words were very eloquent. To his credit, the president was unequivocal regarding the evil of this terrorist group, and he took the time to list some of their crimes against humanity. But

It turns out that there are some good reasons why the former Governor and GOP Presidential nominee is allowing his name to be circulated as a potential candidate in 2016. Some of those good reasons can be found in a new poll by Zogby Analytics showing him outpolling his nearest rivals for the nomination by about two to one. The poll of 315 likely Republican primary voters was conducted online on August 13-15 and has a margin of sampling error of +/-5.6 percentage points. Romney places first in the 2016 race for the nomination with 20%, followed by New jersey Governor

Talk to any of Mitt Romney’s closest political advisers, and the answer is the same: He won’t run for president in 2016. “I take Mitt at his absolute word. He’s not running,” says Ron Kaufman, Republican national committeeman for Massachusetts and a senior adviser to Mr. Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign. “He’s been very clear – he loved running, gave it his best, and lost,” Mr. Kaufman told this reporter at the RNC’s summer meeting in Chicago last week. “Now he’s helping the Republicans win the Senate.” Romney’s former finance chair, Spencer Zwick, has also put out

So Why Is Hillary Doing Stupid Things?

“Great nations need organizing principles – and ‘Don’t do stupid stuff’ is not an organizing principle.” So said former Sec. of State Hillary Clinton in an interview with The Atlantic. So why is she doing stupid things? The Washington Post called her “blunt” criticism of the Obama administration “surprising.” Well, it’s certainly not surprising to anyone who has followed her career. Don’t forget: she made her debut as a Wellesley College senior. She bluntly told off Massachusetts Sen. Edward M. Brooke. Sen. Brooke, a liberal Republican, was the first black man elected to the Senate since Reconstruction.

I was surprised by the statement made by former Florida governor Jeb Bush at the Faith and Freedom Coalition’s Road to Majority conference in 2013. “Immigrants create far more businesses than native-born Americans. Immigrants are more fertile, and they love families, and they have more intact families, and they bring a younger population. Immigrants create an engine of economic prosperity.” (Aaron Blake, Jeb Bush: U.S. Economy needs immigrants because they’re ‘more fertile,’ Washington Post, June 14, 2013)

Former President George W. Bush put together a 48 member coalition for the Iraq War in 2003. 40 of those members supported military operations and 37 provided some number troops. In April 2003, the list was updated to include 49 countries, though it was reduced to 48 after Costa Rica objected to its inclusion. Of the 48 states on the list, three contributed troops to the invasion force (the United Kingdom, Australia and Poland). An additional 37 countries provided some number of troops to support military operations after the invasion was complete. Despite these numbers the liberal media continues to push the lie

Voter turnout during last month´s primary races was a little too good in some counties, Arizona elections officials said Friday. Some precincts in northern Arizona tallied more ballots cast than there are registered voters, the Arizona Capitol Times reported. According to officials, errors made by poll workers and elections officials in Apache and Navajo counties led to the miscalculations. Initial reports from some precincts showed a turnout of anywhere from 200 to 400 percent. In Apache County, the Puerco West precinct reportedly had 100 votes cast, but only 23 voters are registered there. The voter turnout added up to 434

New emails provided to The Daily Caller from the nonprofit legal research firm Cause of Action show the White House thanking the Department of Labor for “flagging” a public information request for “withheld” portions of Solis’ schedule. The White House then asked for the name of the conservative group making the request — information that Labor officials were eager to give up. As TheDC previously

There’s a lot of competition for Barack Obama’s biggest lie. The man who could assure the American public with a straight face over thirty times that they could keep their doctor under his health plan, when he knew that to be completely false, is one hellluva fibber. But execrable as that serial prevarication may have been, it doesn’t hold a proverbial candle to his most recent whopper — that the Islamic State is not Islamic — not to mention its corollary, or perhaps subsidiary lie, that real religions do not indulge in murder. Islam has been doing that pretty much straight

Is a mutiny happening around President Obama? It appears possible that the president may not have made two of his most recent decisions with complete free will. The announcement that he would delay his immigration initiative until after the election and his formal announcement that the United States would take military action against the Islamic State could have been coerced. Maybe Democratic leaders in Congress and a few members of the Obama team have had it. Could it be that, after President Obama briefed Democrats in Congress on the immigration plan, they balked? Maybe the president was told that, if he
