Sen. Walsh cancels events, campaign mum

HELENA, Mont. (AP) - Sen. John Walsh of Montana on Tuesday postponed at least two upcoming events in Bozeman, as his campaign declined to answer questions about whether he planned to remain in the U.S. Senate race amid allegations that he plagiarized a research paper. The Walsh campaign notified Gallatin County Democratic party members that he would not attend a backyard meet-and-greet hosted by Women for Walsh that was scheduled for Wednesday or a Friday talk on public lands at the county party´s new headquarters. The campaign did not give a reason why, said Billy McWilliams, a member of the Gallatin County

Comments:
The handwriting´s on the wall. The Democratic Party only has about ten more days to get another candidate´s name printed on the ballot if Walsh withdraws.

He got caught stealing. The support group should reorganize and be called... ´Women who want a dirty Walsh to come clean´.

Are all Democrats criminals?

Clarification: Walsh has five more days to withdraw, or else the Democrats can´t put another name on the November ballot. If he does withdraw, they have ten days to agree on a replacement.
The pressure is on. I bet Gov. Steve Bullock regrets having named Walsh to the Senate seat vacated by Max Baucus. Rumor has it that Reid and Obama were behind that.

And it wasn´t till the 3rd paragraph that you get a feeling for which party this guy belongs to...if he were Republican, the headline would have read "Republican Walsh..."

In Montana, they at least take action to get rid of lying frauds. Why can´t the country do the same with lying frauds like Obama, Reid, Pelosi, Kerry, Gore, and both Clintons?

No. 4: Walsh was identified as a Democrat in the second sentence (where he notified the Gallatin County Democratic Party of the cancellation).
Besides, everybody and his dog in Montana know who and what John Walsh is.

#3: Yes, that´s what the law says, but just see Bob Torricelli in NJ. Same exact scenario. Busted, ratings dropped, backed out too late to be replaced, was replaced anyway and no one in NJ made a single stink and the Dems won.

Laws are for people other than Dems.

HELENA – Democratic Sen. John Walsh officially bowed out of the Montana U.S. Senate race Thursday in the wake of a plagiarism scandal that has bogged down his campaign over the past three weeks. In a statement issued Thursday afternoon Walsh said the 2007 research paper from his time at the U.S. Army War College "has become a distraction" from his campaign. Walsh was trailing Republican Congressman Steve Daines in the polls even before the New York Times revealed Walsh plagiarized significant portions of a 14-page paper required for his master´s degree. The college is conducting a review that could strip him

HELENA -- U.S. Senator John Walsh (D-MT) has canceled campaign appearances, his political life on the verge of collapse in the wake of plagiarism revelations and his responses to them. So how did Montana Democrats get to a point where, three months before an election, the top of their ticket is the subject of newspaper editorials calling for him to drop out of the race to keep his Senate seat? Here´s a quick review. Former Montana governor Brian Schweitzer was widely expected to run for the seat that had been held since 1978 by Max Baucus - and which Democrats have held since

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on Thursday would not say the United States is at war with ISIS, telling CNN in an interview that the administration´s strategy includes "many different things that one doesn´t think of normally in context of war." "What we are doing is engaging in a very significant counterterrorism operation," Kerry told CNN´s Elise Labott in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. "It´s going to go on for some period of time. If somebody wants to think about it as being a war with ISIL, they can do so, but the fact is it´s a major counterterrorism operation that

A majority of the Palin family — Sarah, Todd, Bristol, and Track — was allegedly involved in a booze-filled brawl over the weekend in which the former vice presidential candidate reportedly screamed, “Don’t you know who I am?” According to reports from local bloggers, the Palin crew showed up at a party in Wasilla following a day at the Iron Dog snowmobile race. According to local blogger Amanda Coyne, witnesses at the scene said Palin’s eldest son, Track, showed up to the party in a stretch Hummer. He then confronted a man who had previously dated one of his sisters,

Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Texas) said in an interview with the Washington Free Beacon that the “hatred and bigotry” he encountered when he was booed off the stage at a Middle Eastern Christian conference for defending Israel on Wednesday night was like nothing he has previously seen in his political career. “I’ve certainly encountered audiences that disagreed with a particular point of view. But this virulent display of hatred and bigotry was remarkable, and considerably different from anything I’ve previously encountered,” Cruz said, just a few hours after his pro-Israel speech to the In Defense of Christians conference was drowned

Qua speech, Barack Obama’s address Wednesday on the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria was surprisingly terrible: a disorganized mess, insincere and unconvincing. To appreciate just how bad and bizarre it was, compare the president’s speech announcing a new air campaign in Iraq and Syria to Dwight Eisenhower’s 1958 statement on his decision to intervene in Lebanon with 14,000—14,000!—troops. The statement contains no chest-thumping about America’s leadership in science and medicine. No pivot to the auto industry and medical research. Eisenhower simply explained what had been done, and why.

Now, the 36-year-old mother of three young children in Valencia, Calif., is among the majority of Americans who have lost confidence in Obama’s leadership and the job he is doing as president. “He’s been faced with a lot of challenges, and he’s lost his way,” Cole said in an interview. Berlin - President Obama´s declaration of war against the terrorist group known as the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria marks a decisive break in the American constitutional tradition. Nothing attempted by his predecessor, George W. Bush, remotely compares in imperial hubris. Mr. Bush gained explicit congressional consent for his invasions (Snip) Mr. Obama may rightly be frustrated by gridlock in Washington, but his assault on the rule of law is a devastating setback for our constitutional order. His refusal even to ask the Justice Department to provide a formal legal pretext for the war on ISIS is astonishing.

Rarely has a president faced a greater challenge in establishing his credibility for a new foreign-policy move than Barack Obama did in his nationally televised speech tonight. A CNN poll earlier this week found that just 30 percent of voters thought Obama had presented a clear plan for fighting the Islamic State. While Obama now pledges to ask Congress to train and aid Syrian rebels who would fight the group, voters remember that he backed similar plans in Syria in 2013, when his advisers saw Syrian president Bashar Assad as the major threat. The new Fox News poll out today has more

President Obama just announced that he is bringing a counter-terrorism strategy to an insurgency fight. He was at pains to repeat the phrase “counter-terror” four times in a short speech. Noting that ISIL is not a state (partly because the international community thankfully does not recognize it), he declared, “ISIL is a terrorist organization, pure and simple. And it has no vision other than the slaughter of all who stand in its way.” Neither of those sentences, unfortunately, is true. ISIL is an insurgent group that controls enormous territory in Iraq and Syria that it governs. It maneuvers conventional light

Throughout his presidency, President Obama has emphasized one point while talking about Islamist extremists: They are not practicing Islam, he has said, they are perverting it. He took that a step further Wednesday night. While announcing that he´s expanding the campaign against the Islamic State extremist group into Syria, Obama said flatly that this group, which is trying to install a caliphate in the Middle East, "is not Islamic." He didn´t say they are perverting their religion; he said they´re not even part of that religion. "No religion condones the killing of innocents, and the vast majority of [the Islamic State´s] victims

SAN DIEGO — African-American elementary students in California were chronically truant at nearly four times the rate of all students during the last school year, according to a state report released Friday. The report by the California Attorney General´s office is the first time the data has been broken down according to race and income levels. Officials say such data is needed to address the problem. Poverty and suspensions are contributing factors. Overall, more than 250,000 elementary school students missed 10 percent or more of the 2013-2014 school year or roughly 18 or more school days. The absences were highest at the kindergarten and

A high school football booster club in Ventura was prohibited from selling Chick-fil-A sandwiches at its back-to-school night event because the principal didn’t like the restaurant owner’s position on gay marriage, according to CBS Los Angeles. Val Wyatt, principal of Ventura High School, was quoted in the Ventura County Star as stating, “With their political stance on gay rights and because the students of Ventura High School and their parents would be at the event, I didn’t want them on campus.” The principal was echoed by Ventura Unified School District Superintendent Trudy Tuttle Arriaga, who said, “We value inclusivity and diversity
