Major Car Trouble for Ohio Dem

Ohio police caught Democratic gubernatorial nominee Ed FitzGerald driving a woman around at 4:30 in the morning without a license two years ago, and FitzGerald now calls the incident “a silly mistake.” FitzGerald’s license had been expired for five years. “I was not, uh, as attentive to that as I should have been,” FitzGerald now says. “And that is my mistake.” Police found FitzGerald and the female passenger, who was not his wife, talking in an empty parking lot. “I let my driver’s license expire,” he admitted to NBC 4. “I did, I sure did.” “For five years?” the anchor exclaimed. “That was a silly mistake

That isn´t even one-tenth of the story. He was found by suburban Westlake police at 4:30 in the morning in the parking lot of an industrial park. The police noticed the car and approached and observed the car rocking back and forth. Fitzgerald emerged from the back seat of the car, where he had been with a "female member of the Irish trade delegation" and they had gotten separated from the group and were waiting until they heard from them so the group could all meet up. He swears nothing scandalous was going on and blames it all on a dirty smear campaign by Gov. Kasich and the Republican mayor of Westlake. Yep, he´s ready for Democrat higher office now.

This will only endear him to his constituency in the Mistake on the Lake. Clevelanders would vote for a Democrat who had to be exhumed to run. Unfortunately, that neck of the woods has tipped many an election in favor of democrats.

We´ll see how this plays out.

The story as posted is sanitized. Poster 2 catches a lot of the truth. The story should also includes the apparent lie of Fitzgerald ... By the way, I am an OH resident with an expiring license, and have been so reminded by my bank, by the DMV, and by others who use the license as ID.

Two sides to this. 1) A drivers´ license that must constantly be renewed without further testing is nothing more than a continued source of revenue for a state, a nuisance tax like all other nuisance taxes. Ohio even requires registration for a kayak, like floating on a river actually costs somebody something. 2) Ignoring the law in a flagrant manner by a politician is a dangerous trait. If he willingly breaks the law on little things, for what big things is he is willing to cross the line? We see the epitome of this VIP, don´t bother me with the law syndrome in our own barack obama.

With all of the other news ricocheting around the media and social networks, this may seem like a sleeper of a story, but it’s a bigger deal than one might think — literally as well as figuratively. Last night, House Republicans unveiled their proposed continuing resolution that will fund government well past the midterm elections, and it won’t make conservatives like Rep. Jeb Hensarling too happy. The proposal calls for a simple extension of current funding, plus some extra cash to deal with the Ebola outbreak in Africa and more flexibility on the use of cash for border security. Otherwise,

In the latest round of polls, President Obama´s approval ratings are lowest on the two issues that once were strengths—foreign policy and immigration. In this week´s ABC News/Washington Post poll, only 31 percent of Americans approved of his handling of immigration, an issue that he recently hoped to wield as a political weapon against the Republican Party. And the same survey showed his approval on international affairs at just 38 percent—the lowest point of his presidency and an 8-point drop from late July—even as he catered to the creeping isolationist sentiment in the country. To the White House, these numbers must

Martha Coakley may have won the Massachusetts’ Democratic governor primary, but her slim six-point margin of victory isn’t doing much to assuage Democrats worried about another 2010. Coakley took 42 percent of the vote to Steve Grossman’s 36 percent and Don Berwick’s 21 percent on Tuesday’s election. Coakley’s six-point margin is a rather uncomfortable primary win, particularly given that Coakley had a 20-point lead in The Boston Globe poll as recently as two weeks ago. The margin is bringing up memories of her failed 2010 Senate race, when Coakley lost to Scott Brown in a race to replace the longtime seat of

The first question most callers ask, says Katie Ray-Jones, president of the National Domestic Violence Hotline, isn’t “How do I leave him?” The first question is typically, “How do I get him to stop hitting me?” It is not unusual for domestic violence victims such as Janay Palmer to stand by their man, Ray-Jones said. This is the conclusion in a working paper by the National Bureau of Economic Research. The bureau is unable to find lasting benefits for the 900,000 children enrolled in the program.
