Obama tries to impose his
August agenda, but...

Investor´s Business Daily, by Andrew Malcolm

Original Article

As planned, President Obama, his minions and the largely-complicit D.C. political media are using the absence of Congress to build the anticipatory drumbeat about what exactly the chief executive intends to do by himself over the boiling issue of illegal immigrants. [Snip] Aides say Obama will move at "the end of summer," an intentionally vague time-frame. Our guess is shortly after Labor Day when he can focus public attention on his moves as the Nov. 4 midterm elections approach. Narcissist or not, every president wants to control the media narrative. This is especially so for disastrous presidencies like Obama´s.

"Every president wants to control the media narrative."

I suggest the media WANTS to be controlled, like sheep, but I have no idea why. Maybe he´s the voice they think they need to legitimize the slime they spew.

Are there no investigative reporters anymore who aspire to a Pulitzer? They´re doing this to themselves. Readership is down, and I enjoy watching it become even more down.

Senate nominee Thom Tillis gives the Republican Party´s Weekly Remarks: Hi. I’m Thom Tillis, the Republican nominee for the United State Senate in the great state of North Carolina. Over the last four years, I’ve had the honor of serving as the Speaker of the House in the State Assembly, but my journey to get there is what defines the American dream. I was brought-up in a working-class family with my mother and father and five siblings. My parents often had to work two jobs to make ends meet. We lived on the economic bubble and were constantly forced to pack up our belongings and move from state to state,

President Obama´s weekly remarks: Hi, everybody. American leadership is the one constant in an uncertain world. That was true this week, as we mobilized the world to confront some of our most urgent challenges. America is leading the world in the fight to degrade and ultimately destroy the terrorist group known as ISIL. On Monday, our brave men and women in uniform began air strikes against ISIL targets in Syria. And they weren’t alone. I made it clear that America would act as part of a broad coalition, and we were joined in this action by friends and partners, including Arab nations. At the United Nations in New York,

Joe Biden, according to his former Obama cabinet colleague Robert Gates, has the singular distinction of being wrong on just about every major foreign policy question in the last four decades. Even when he plagiarized. Biden opposed the Osama bin Laden assassination. Like Obama, Biden also opposed President Bush´s Iraq troop surge. Like Obama, Biden said the surge would actually make things worse in Iraq. [Snip] Almost exactly two years ago Joe was on the campaign trail warning American voters about how this cancer-causing businessman named Mitt Romney wanted to attack Syria.

The military salute is a simple hand gesture but loaded with tradition, honor, symbolism and packed with respect, both given and returned. It began in the days of chivalry when knights would raise their right hand approaching other knights to show they had no weapon unsheathed. The salute seems often to confound civilians without military experience, who see it as somewhat akin to a fraternity hand sign. Every modern president since Truman has had military (and saluting) experience -- except two Democrats. And both Bill Clinton and Barack Obama have had trouble with the salute.

Lurching on to the new week´s next news diversion, the Obama administration announced new regulations Monday to punish U.S. businesses that employ Americans, make profits and seek to protect the gains for shareholders, as is their fiduciary responsibility. The over-hyped administration moves came against so-called business inversions, a perfectly legal pro forma shift of corporate headquarters to a foreign country with corporate taxes lower than the United States´ confiscatory 35% rate. The goal was to crimp the economic appeal of such moves. Although Russia and North Korea would not be recommended, the money-saving

President Obama´s weekly remarks Over the past week, the United States has continued to lead our friends and allies in the strategy to degrade and ultimately destroy the terrorist group known as ISIL. As I’ve said before, our intelligence community has not yet detected specific plots from these terrorists against America. Right now, they pose a threat to the people of Iraq, Syria, and the broader Middle East. But its leaders have threatened America and our allies. And if left unchecked, they could pose a growing threat to the United States.

Seeking to change the ISIS narrative from "we have no strategy" to "we can do this," President Obama visited the headquarters of CENTCOM and Special Ops in Florida Wednesday and said: "I´m not here to give a long speech." (It was 2,700 words in length.) Once again, the commander-in-chief placed great emphasis for his immediate and global audiences on what he is not going to do: "As your Commander-in-Chief, I will not commit you and the rest of our Armed Forces to fighting another ground war in Iraq."

The long-awaited House Select Committee on Benghazi begins its historic open hearings today. The chair is Rep. Trey Gowdy of South Carolina, a no-nonsense former federal and state prosecutor now in his second House term. The 50-year-old Gowdy´s challenges include herding GOP colleagues in a coherent investigative direction while combating the anticipated pre-election obfuscations and complaints of Democrats eager to protect President Obama and his wannabe successor Hillary Clinton. But the committee´s most important duty is ferreting out credible answers to thousands of questions about the deadly night of 9/11/12.

Good afternoon, and welcome to the White House. More than four decades ago, in early 1970, an American squad in Vietnam set out on patrol. They marched down a trail, past a rice paddy. Shots rang out and splintered the bamboo above their heads. The lead soldier tripped a wire -- a booby trap. A grenade rolled toward the feet of a 20-year-old machine gunner. The pin was pulled, and that grenade would explode at any moment. A few years earlier, on the other side of the country, deep in the jungle, a small group of Americans were crouched on

Sowing distrust and discord among Americans has served Barack Obama well politically during his 68 months in office. But now as the former community organizer faces ISIS and the worst foreign policy crisis of his ineffective presidential tenure, that distrust and division has circled around to bite its master. We’re being had. Again. For six years, President Obama has endeavored to will the country into accepting two pillars of his alternative national-security reality. First, he claims to have dealt decisively with the terrorist threat, rendering it a disparate series of ragtag jayvees. Second, he asserts that the threat is unrelated to Islam, which is innately peaceful, moderate, and opposed to the wanton “violent extremists” who purport to act in its name. Now, the president has been compelled to act against a jihad that has neither ended nor been “decimated.” The jihad, in fact, has inevitably intensified under his counterfactual

Even though Republicans may take back the Senate by running against amnesty, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush pushed amnesty legislation while stumping for North Carolina Republican Senate candidate Thom Tillis on Wednesday. Bush, according to the New York Times, reportedly said that comprehensive immigration reform "will restore and sustain economic growth for this country." And even though a recent Gallup poll found that illegal immigration is now the top concern among Republicans, Bush said that if immigration reform is "framed in that way, I don’t think there’s a big debate in the Republican Party about the need to do this."

Of all the malfeasances of William Jefferson Clinton the one that would have most justified a removal from office was not the Monica hijinks, even with the attendant lying under oath and absurd parsings of the word “is,” but the pardoning of Marc Rich — the billionaire international commodities trader and mammoth contributor to, er, Clinton. Luckily for Bill, this action occurred on the last day of his presidency, making anything like impeachment moot, even though it was an example of political corruption that would have made Boss Tweed envious. When the U.S. military strikes, its leaders often choose colorful code names for the operation that sometimes stick in history, like Operation Overlord or Rolling Thunder or Desert Storm. Not this time. The U.S.-led air campaign against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria doesn´t have a name. "I know of no plans at this point to name it," Pentagon spokesman Rear Adm. John Kirby said Thursday. Since World War II, almost every U.S. military operation, large and small, has had a code name. And that name usually sticks when veterans talk about the conflicts in which they participated, such
