Grand Canyon investigating
squirrel-kicking video

Associated Press, by Staff

Original Article

Posted By:Flyright, 8/5/2014 7:31:56 AM

Authorities are looking into a viral Internet video that shows a man kicking a squirrel off what appears to be the edge of the Grand Canyon. But park officials say the chances of finding the man are slim."Right now they are working on it," park spokeswoman Kirby-Lynn hedlowski said on Mrs on Monday. "They realise that it´s been seen by a lot of people and that there´s some sensitivity to treatment of wildlife." The short video posted on YouTube shows a shirtless, barefoot man in shorts and a straw cowboy hat leaving a trail of food at the edge of a canyon.

If Caddy Shack were made today, Carl would be on the FBI´s pst wanted list for inhumane treatment of gophers. Age with OP that squirrels are a pst and wreak gardens, yards and homes. Should a guy be drop kicking squirrels into the abyss? No. Should the US gooberment waste enormous resources identifying and prosecuting a guy that eliminated a pest? No. Its our money. Spend it wisely. Capture an illegal that just offed one of our border officers and then we might have a little respect for goobernment enforcement.

I can understand that the publicity of the event could cause park officials to respond, if for no other reason than to show that anyone displaying that type of cruelty of deliberately harming or killing park animals would be held accountable. However, that park, and all the squirrels in it, are OUR property. If I make Brunswick stew out of my squirrel, it´s fine. If you come onto my land for your squirrel-killing needs, it´s trespassing, theft, and vandalism.

I think squirrels know how to fall without getting hurt or they wouldn´t be chasing each other around 100ft up in trees. They have a terminal velocity less than that of a cat which can land on its feet at terminal velocity and survive it (if it´s not too fat).

Thank you #16. So what if its a rodent. They are one of God´s little creatures too! The other night, I went to feed my kitties and Little One was playing with a mouse. Since he was still alive and in good shape, I tried to rescue it. The little guy bit my finger twice, but I held no animosity toward it. Poor thing was scared. Can´t blame him. Among the 9 cats trying to supplement their dinner, he was able to get away.

I don´t believe in cruelty for the sake of entertainment. Survival is one thing...idiot getting his jollies is another. Why not punt the fool over the cliff? He´s probably a Democrat anyway.

Qua speech, Barack Obama’s address Wednesday on the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria was surprisingly terrible: a disorganized mess, insincere and unconvincing. To appreciate just how bad and bizarre it was, compare the president’s speech announcing a new air campaign in Iraq and Syria to Dwight Eisenhower’s 1958 statement on his decision to intervene in Lebanon with 14,000—14,000!—troops. The statement contains no chest-thumping about America’s leadership in science and medicine. No pivot to the auto industry and medical research. Eisenhower simply explained what had been done, and why.

Some Capitol Hill lawmakers are baffled. What does President Obama want from Congress as he begins the U.S. military escalation in Iraq and Syria? The question wasn´t answered by the president´s much-anticipated speech Wednesday night. First, Obama seemed to tell Congress to mind its own business. With his address to the nation Wednesday evening, President Obama revealed that he is a leader in deep denial about the threat the United States faces, and about the steps that are necessary to deal with it. In his remarks, Obama offered up a series of delusions, each of which point to the ultimate defeat of the United States in the war he has embarked upon. Delusion #1: Obama still thinks ISIS is the JV team. Here’s how he began his speech: We can’t erase every trace of evil from the world, and small groups of killers have the capacity to do great harm. The left front foot wide open, out of the box until the last moment, and the cop-at-a-crossing right hand ritually lifted astern until the foot swings shut. The announcement that he would delay his immigration initiative until after the election and his formal announcement that the United States would take military action against the Islamic State could have been coerced. Maybe Democratic leaders in Congress and a few members of the Obama team have had it. Could it be that, after President Obama briefed Democrats in Congress on the immigration plan, they balked?
