Doctors Begin To Refuse
Obamacare Patients

Obamacare plans have shrunk payments to physicians so much that some doctors say they won’t be able to afford to accept Obamacare coverage, NPR reports. Many of the eight million sign-ups in Obamacare exchanges nationwide already face more limited choices for physicians and hospitals than those in the private insurance market. But with low physician reimbursement rates, the problem could get even worse. For a typical quick patient visit, Dr. Doug Gerard, a Connecticut internist, told NPR a private insurer would pay $100 while Medicare would pay around $80. But Obamacare plans are more likely to pay closer to $80, which Gerard

I wish the doctor I go to would refuse Obamacare patients. Appointment wait times have gone from a few days to a month, and he really looks beat nowadays.
Hes still a great doctor and giving it his all, but I think his all is running out.

The Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement rates are pretty stinking low; I didn´t realize ObeymeCare could sink even lower.

Can we please repeal the ACA now?

"a certain mix in private practice between the low reimbursers and the high reimbursers"

Does this mean those that can pay must pay for those that can´t? Wish they´d have taken that trillion+ and paid it directly to the hospitals and clinics to reimburse them for those that can´t pay, and left the rest of us alone.

Can´t 0bama sign a decree that all doctors must accept any reimbursement?

Dr. Gerard does doctors no favor by saying that he´ll go broke at $80 a quick visit. I don´t remember the last time a doctor spent more than 5-10 minutes talking with me and it has always been paid as an intermediate or long visit. Dr. Gerard just needs to quick checking the quick-visit box.

#8. I am just an average patient who keeps her eyes open. $80. payment for the office visit is not enough to keep the lights on, pay for those nice paper gowns, pay the nice nurse who takes your blood pressure, and the office worker who must answer your phone calls and schedule your appointment, and fax numerous papers to your prescription insurance, and enter everything including your BMI on the bill submitted on the electronic billing system.

#12 you forgot the insurances liability, malpractice, a billing professional (it takes 40 hours a week to keep track of insurance coverages and reimbursements) all the other supplies, mortgage, equipment, staff benefits etc. Our office costs are approximately 75% of current reimbursements. What is your physician´s time worth? Does he deserve to be reimbursed for 8 or more years of a grueling training program? Most people will deeply regret the ACA within the next 5 years.

Yes #4 price controls are on the way. This will work for a while since we have that which the private sector built left to cannibalize. Once it´s gone then what? The supply already strained by the ageing baby boom will dry up.

The rich will be able to pay exorbitant prices and travel about the globe to get care, the poor will get "free" care while the rest of us do without. We´ll start a black market, and self treat. We will also see medical care now only legally administered by MD´s, provided by government workers possessing only vocational training and certifications bestowed upon them by corrupt bureaucrats.

The practice no longer accepts United Health Care, because it apparently pays even less than Medicare. So while I get reimbursed for my expenses, it´s not as much as if the office were in the network. However, I was so impress with the treatment I received the first time that I refused to go anywhere else. I was also told by the receptionist that this practice does not accept any 0bamacare plans.

AUSTIN — Greg Abbott’s campaign launched a new attack on Democratic rival Wendy Davis’ ethics Thursday, saying she voted on legislation as a state senator that personally benefited her business. A new 30-second TV ad airing statewide marks a political escalation by the Abbott campaign, which has largely ignored Davis in its TV ad campaign and instead focused on the Republican attorney general’s platform and personal story. While Davis has targeted Abbott relentlessly on TV, Abbott’s ads until now have been an effective contrast, signaling to his Republican base that he’s in good shape. Joseph R. Biden’s 2016 presidential ambitions already look like they have been swallowed whole by the Hillary Rodham Clinton juggernaut, but political analysts say the vice president still has a narrow path to victory — one that depends on either out-politicking the former first lady in crucial states such as Iowa or praying she makes a grave mistake. Mr. Biden and Mrs. Clinton both visited Iowa, home of the first caucuses in the presidential primary cycle, over the past week. Neither has declared a White House run in two years, but each seemed to be courting the Democratic foot soldiers necessary

Supporters of the Obama administration like to create the impression that there is no viable alternative to the Affordable Care Act — i.e., Obamacare. But that is demonstrably not true. Republican senators Richard Burr, Tom Coburn, and Orrin Hatch introduced a plan earlier this year that would cover just as many people with insurance as Obamacare at a fraction of the cost. Now we have confirmation, in the form of a new cost estimate, that a similarly constructed but slightly different proposal would also cost less, while covering nearly the same number of people. The plan, developed and promoted by the 2017

Congress is living in an "evidence-free zone" as it debates issues of equal pay and family-friendly work policies, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Thursday. "Unfortunately, reality is not always the context in which these decisions are made. The Congress increasingly -- despite the best efforts of my friends and others -- is living in an evidence-free zone," she said during a roundtable discussion at the Center for American Progress focused on women´s issues. "What the reality is, in the lives of Americans is so far from the minds of too many who don´t place the highest priority" on

Hundreds of Ferguson protesters and local far left activists packed the St. Louis County Council meeting last night in Clayton, demanding action in the Michael Brown shooting case. Brown was shot dead in Ferguson, Missouri on August 9, 2014 after he robbed a local Ferguson convenience store. Brown reportedly smashed police officer Darren Wilson in the face, severely injuring Wilson, before he was shot dead. Protesters threatened continued rioting and violence if Officer Wilson is let off. (Tweet) The mob told Councilman Steve Stenger that he has until noon on Wednesday to denounce County Prosecutor Bob McCulloch, who endorsed Stenger’s

Flashes of disagreement over how to fight the Islamic State are mounting between President Obama and U.S. military leaders, the latest sign of strain in what often has been an awkward and uneasy relationship. Even as the administration has received congressional backing for its strategy, with the Senate voting Thursday to approve a plan to arm and train Syrian rebels, a series of military leaders have criticized the president’s approach against the Islamic State militant group. Retired Marine Gen. James Mattis, who served under Obama until last year, became the latest high-profile skeptic on Thursday, telling the House Intelligence Committee

First Lady Michelle Obama proudly defended her husband’s record at a Washington, D.C. fundraiser, reminding the attendants how far the country had come since the Obamas entered the White House. “Just think about how different our country looks to children growing up today,” she said. “Think about how our kids take for granted that a black person or a woman can be President of the United States.” She also praised President Obama for changing history on gay marriage and the Supreme Court. “They take it for granted that for the first time in history, there are three brilliant women serving

A village of just 1,000 residents in Switzerland has been forced to raise taxes because an African refugee and her seven children cost the local authority £40,000 in benefits every month. Hagenbuch, in the Swiss canton of Zurich, is understood to be spending close to a third of its total annual budget on the family after they arrived from Eritrea in East Africa three years ago. The massive benefits bill covers day-to-day living expenses such as groceries and cleaning costs, as well as paying for four of the woman´s children to be housed in an orphanage and even bills for

Devastating. That´s really the only way to describe Politico´s piece on DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz. (I hereby nominate her for Worst Week in Washington.) (Editor´s note: Three words -- Joseph. Robinette. Biden.) Based on interviews with DNC staffers -- both former and current -- the piece described Wasserman Schultz as something of a modern-day Tracy Flick: over-eager, disloyal and not shy about promoting her ambitions. It would be fair to say that she sounds like, well, a lot like other politicians. And this would be accurate. But the wholesale bashing of Wasserman Schultz at every level of the party -- White House,

Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, a Senior Member of the House Homeland Security Committee and House Judiciary Committee and Ranking Member of the Border and Maritime Subcommittee.(snip) The Congresswoman released the following statement: “The bloodshed at the hands of ISIL has been enormous. Religious minorities have been persecuted. American and British citizens have been beheaded. There is a further threat of other innocent human beings to be beheaded or killed in some way. It is also clear that a war including the United States is not the answer. I abhor the violence of war when diplomacy can be used.
