U.S. closing emergency
child immigrant shelters

CBS News, by Staff

WASHINGTON - The government said Monday it will soon close three emergency shelters it established at U.S. military bases to temporarily house children caught crossing the Mexican border alone. It said fewer children were being caught and other shelters will be adequate. A shelter in Oklahoma at Fort Sill is expected to close as early as Friday, the Health and Human Services Department (HHS) said. Shelters in Texas at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland and in California at Naval Base Ventura County-Port Hueneme will wrap up operations in the next two to eight weeks, agency spokesman Kenneth Wolfe said. About 7,700 children

I suspect that part of this surge in illegal alien children was staged by democrat operatives or groups like acorn. I also suspect that they are just cutting illegals loose inside the US and dropping them off in various locations around the country with or without someone claiming them as their kids.

The foster home business will grow into a politically powerful constituency. It will become like industrial livestock farming.

Federal appeals court orders Wisconsin’s
voter ID law to be reinstated

CHICAGO/MILWAUKEE — A federal appeals court has reinstated Wisconsin’s voter photo identification law. U.S. District Judge Lynn Adelman struck the law down as unconstitutional in April, saying it unfairly burdens poor and minority voters who may lack such identification. Republican Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen asked the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago to overturn that ruling. The 7th Circuit issued a ruling late Friday afternoon lifting Aldeman’s stay and allowing the law to go into effect before the November elections. State attorneys asked a three-judge 7th Circuit panel during oral arguments on Friday to immediately reinstate the law. Van Hollen’s appeal remains

The White House and Pentagon acknowledged Friday that the U.S. “is at war” with the Islamic State -- contradicting Secretary of State John Kerry and others who a day earlier refused to use that term, prompting criticism from lawmakers that the administration was downplaying the conflict. White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest and Pentagon spokesman Rear Adm. John Kirby used almost identical language when pressed by reporters Friday whether or not the expanded military operation against the terrorist group is in fact a war. “In the same way that the United States is at war with Al Qaeda and its affiliates …

The lurid, stereotypical tale of Sarah Palin and her family entering into an alcohol-fueled melee at a snowmobile party is starting to pick up in the mainstream media, with Good Morning America devoting an entire segment to the story this morning. In doing so, they talked to Eric Thompson, an eyewitness who attended the party at the invitation of his boss. But Thompson, who also gave his account to Alaskan political blogger Amanda Coyne, was fired today for talking to the media. Entertainment Tonight producer Elizabeth Applegate tweeted that she’d spoken to Townsend this morning, who confirmed that he’d been

President Obama’s promise “to degrade and ultimately destroy ISIL” may or may not end up causing problems for the Islamic State. Surely however, it further degraded our security by further engaging us in the combination of fantasy and half measures that has earned America a reputation for un-seriousness and opened hunting season on Americans everywhere. Obama degrades America by dwelling in a politically convenient fantasy world. In his September 10 2014 prime-time speech, Obama claimed to have made America safer by combining the withdrawal of troops from abroad with the killing of Osama bin Laden and “taking out

Louisville, Ky. – Solid ground isn´t always a certainty. Sinkholes can lurk anywhere, beneath suburban homes, city streets or even football stadiums and museums. It´s basic geology: Sinkholes open when soil collapses into large holes, caused by flowing water in underground limestone. Their toll can be dramatic, swallowing homes, trees or anything else on the collapsing ground — even prized Corvettes. The Southeastern U.S. is prime territory for the geological phenomena — a potentially costly game of subterranean roulette. In Tennessee, a sinkhole opened during renovations on the football stadium at Austin Peay State University.

The latest effort to cater to the sexual needs of Islamic State’s army of jihadis is a Twitter account that offers matchmaking services. The account, called @JihadMatchmaker, finds partners for militants in Syria, purporting to set up liaisons that measure up to the terrorist organization’s interpretation of Islam, according to the Middle East Media Research Institute. "Jihad Matchmaker is here to link up those seeking marriage in Syria in a halal manner,” reads the account’s tagline. “InshaAllah helping Muslims is the aim." ‘Halal’ refers to anything that is appropriately sanctioned by the Muslim religion. It´s storming outside -- but we´re not talking about thunder and rain. The energy from two back-to-back coronal mass ejections hit Earth today as expected, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Coronal mass ejections are bursts of radiation that explode from the sun -- and these particular flares have been whizzing toward earth as fast as 2.5 million miles per hour. According to NOAA, the current storm level is just above the moderate threshold. While solar storms may sound alarming, harmful radiation from the flares cannot pass through Earth´s atmosphere. However, a perfect storm of intense radiation

Speaking at a conference with politicians and business leaders in Kiev, Arseniy Yatsenyuk said Russian President Vladimir Putin´s "goal is to take the entire Ukraine." There exist any number of fair criticisms of George W. Bush’s Iraq policy — that he underestimated the resistance we would encounter, that he deferred too long to failing generals, that the surge ought to have come sooner, and so on. The one thing that can’t be said about him is this: that his war policy was driven by the polls and politics. This is the operative difference between Presidents Bush and Obama, which the latter drove home in his prime-time address Wednesday evening. On the surface, there are similarities between the two. Like Bush’s Iraq reset, Obama’s comes near the midway point

Qua speech, Barack Obama’s address Wednesday on the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria was surprisingly terrible: a disorganized mess, insincere and unconvincing. To appreciate just how bad and bizarre it was, compare the president’s speech announcing a new air campaign in Iraq and Syria to Dwight Eisenhower’s 1958 statement on his decision to intervene in Lebanon with 14,000—14,000!—troops. The statement contains no chest-thumping about America’s leadership in science and medicine. No pivot to the auto industry and medical research. Eisenhower simply explained what had been done, and why.

Berlin - President Obama´s declaration of war against the terrorist group known as the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria marks a decisive break in the American constitutional tradition. Nothing attempted by his predecessor, George W. Bush, remotely compares in imperial hubris. Mr. Bush gained explicit congressional consent for his invasions (Snip) Mr. Obama may rightly be frustrated by gridlock in Washington, but his assault on the rule of law is a devastating setback for our constitutional order. SAN DIEGO — African-American elementary students in California were chronically truant at nearly four times the rate of all students during the last school year, according to a state report released Friday. The report by the California Attorney General´s office is the first time the data has been broken down according to race and income levels. Officials say such data is needed to address the problem. Poverty and suspensions are contributing factors. Overall, more than 250,000 elementary school students missed 10 percent or more of the 2013-2014 school year or roughly 18 or more school days. The absences were highest at the kindergarten and

Check your hygiene privilege. Cabbies who smell badly are probably just oppressed folks who came directly from their terrorist training camp to the airport and didn’t have time to change. Body odour is among 52 criteria that officials at San Diego International Airport use to judge taxi drivers. Cabbies say that smacks of prejudice and discrimination. It does discriminate between cabbies who smell like an open sewer and those who don’t. It further prejudges what a good smell is.

This week, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) slandered a group of Middle Eastern Christians who were trying to raise awareness of their struggle to avoid a genocide in the Middle East. His cynical grandstanding was rightly condemned — but he was hardly alone. Cruz agreed to speak to this group, which included bishops of the Catholic and Orthodox Churches, ostensibly out of solidarity, but took the occasion to antagonize them over their insufficient praise for Israel, then smeared them as anti-Semites before dropping the mic.
