mental health treatment

Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart, attempting to cope with what he says is a growing mental health crisis among inmates at the county jail, said up to 9,000 people who have been incarcerated have signed up for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act in an attempt to get the care they need. “Systemically, over the course of decades, we’ve sort of carved back all the mental health services to the point where there is this question, we’ve carved it back to next to nothing,” (Snip) Dart said the Cook County Jail is now the largest mental health provider in

Comments:
Cook County and the local mental health professionals owe the nation´s taxpayers a huge ´thank you´ for footing this enormous bill.

Signing up for KenyanKare is evidence of severe mental illness. Exactly how do they plan on paying for it? Food stamps?

Mental health treatment is usually drugs.
Many of them are using it as a source of drugs.

Also, many of the facilities were closed because of the difficulty of committing mental patients without their consent. Mental patients that used to be locked up against their will previous to about 1960, become problems on the street and get arrested for crimes, or just live as destitute homeless.

The joy of Zippycare keeps on coming.
What, no navigators for prisoners ?

Let the inmates collecting unemployment, tax returns, and money from the victims fund pay for their care.

Prosecutors said Saturday that one of the men charged in the Aug. 20 slaying of a 9-year-old Chicago boy had this reaction when he hopped into a getaway car: "I just hit a shorty. I just hit a shorty.". The "shorty" was Antonio Smith, the youngest gun violence fatality in the city this year. (Snip) Along the way, Allmon ran into Antonio Smith, who said "Hey" to him, according to prosecutors. In response, Allmon pointed his gun at Smith and shot the child multiple times, prosecutors said. From nearly 1,000 miles away, several Redskins players used the Monday Night Football stage to draw attention to the situation that has been unfolding in Ferguson, Missouri by running onto FedExField with their hands up in the air. Ferguson is where unarmed 18-year-old Michael Brown was shot and killed by a white police officer on Aug. 9. Witnesses have said he was not aggressive toward the officer and had his hands raised above his head before he was shot. As a result, the words “hands up, don’t shoot” have become a rallying cry of protesters, both in Ferguson and online.

Karen Lewis, the Chicago Teachers Union president now considering whether to run for mayor, has frequently railed against the influence of the wealthy.“Why do people of wealth and privilege try to convince the world they have neither?” she said on Twitter last year. “Be honest that you don’t have a clue about poverty.” She has ripped Mayor Rahm Emanuel as a tool of corporate Chicago, labeled him “Mayor 1%” and described herself as “not egotistical or rich.” (Snip)But she makes more than $200,000 a year and has an ownership interest in three homes, records show.

Deerfield-based Walgreens set the stage to acquire its remaining 55 percent stake of Alliance Boots on Wednesday while rejecting an option to reincorporate overseas to save on corporate taxes, a move applauded by U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin and labor unions and punished — at least for a day — by investors. Walgreens explored the tax implications of what is called a corporate inversion, but its board decided not to pursue the tax reduction strategy that has become controversial and was assailed by President Barack Obama as a tax dodge.(Snip) In rejecting inversion, Wasson said politics, public opinion and potential intense

Concern about rising wealth and income inequality has generated all kinds of solutions, often focused on improving the lot of the people at the bottom with measures such as minimum wages. But instead of putting a floor on what people get, why not put a ceiling on how much they get to keep?(Snip)Suppose that people, after paying ordinary income taxes, would be allowed to keep up to, say, $500,000 of their income, then would be obliged to give away the rest to the charities of their choice or, if they like, to a charity of their own design and creation.

We’re being had. Again. For six years, President Obama has endeavored to will the country into accepting two pillars of his alternative national-security reality. First, he claims to have dealt decisively with the terrorist threat, rendering it a disparate series of ragtag jayvees. Second, he asserts that the threat is unrelated to Islam, which is innately peaceful, moderate, and opposed to the wanton “violent extremists” who purport to act in its name. Now, the president has been compelled to act against a jihad that has neither ended nor been “decimated.” The jihad, in fact, has inevitably intensified under his counterfactual

Washington - The parents of Michael Brown said Saturday in an interview with The Associated Press they were unmoved by the apology of the Ferguson, Missouri, police chief weeks after their unarmed 18-year-old son was killed by a police officer. Brown´s mother, Lesley McSpadden, called for Chief Tom Jackson to be fired, and his father, Michael Brown Sr., said rather than an apology, they would rather see Officer Darren Wilson arrested for the death of their son on Aug. 9. In an update on Friday afternoon, one of the country´s leading independent political handicappers broadened its assessment of how many House seats Republicans are likely to win this fall. If I were a scientist, I´d stick to the Goldman Sachs principle: bet on both sides. "Believe in science, believe in God" seems to cover all the possibilities and gives you the best chance for a cheery afterlife. For a time, it was thought that astrophysicist Stephen Hawking had also left a tiny gap in his credo window for a magical deity. However, he has now come out and declared that there is no God. When the U.S. military strikes, its leaders often choose colorful code names for the operation that sometimes stick in history, like Operation Overlord or Rolling Thunder or Desert Storm. Not this time. The U.S.-led air campaign against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria doesn´t have a name. "I know of no plans at this point to name it," Pentagon spokesman Rear Adm. John Kirby said Thursday. Since World War II, almost every U.S. military operation, large and small, has had a code name. And that name usually sticks when veterans talk about the conflicts in which they participated, such

Political pollsters have a tough job. They have to create formulas to determine if the person they are interviewing is likely to vote, and it is within this calculation that their reputations are made. Typically, those who are likely to vote in an off-year election are pretty set. They are the people who always vote in elections — with some motivated by specific issues. In a wave election, the number of those motivated by specific issues escalates, changing the electoral landscape as the candidates who are beneficiaries of this increased participation sweep to victory. The 2014 election is rapidly looking like something new
