Saxby defends enhanced
interrogation techniques post-9/11

Washington Times, by Valerie Richardson

Original Article

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 8/3/2014 4:54:35 PM

The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence’s vice chairman defended the CIA’s use of enhanced interrogation techniques after 9/11, saying the program led directly to the discovery of al Qaeda mastermind Osama bin Laden. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, Georgia Republican, said on CBS-TV’s “Face the Nation” that he strongly disagreed with Democrats who are framing the CIA’s actions as fruitless. The committee is expected to release this week a declassified version of its 6,000-page report on detention and interrogation in the aftermath of 9/11, which includes sections on the torture of detainees.

Comments:
Talking about "enhanced interrogation techniques" by the dRATS is not only living in the past, but also akin to always bringing Katrina into discussions. Some "fuzzy" reference made in a womens degree program on PBS. What baloney. They should talk about their corrupt mayor and convicted chocolate leader who abandoned them from the start for nice digs in Dallas.

Sooner or later the Jihadis will smuggle a nuke into NYC and the left will be screaming for some "enhanced interrogation" used to find and disarm it. This will indeed become ´The Sum of All Fears´.

Yes, but the left will fly the jihadi´s in and put them in a hotel at our expense, let them get away, and attribute it all to their poverty and our imperialism.

It’s hard to imagine that any school would have a problem with a book about a Christian family that helped Jews escape the Holocaust. But Springs Charter Schools in Temecula, Calif., not only had a problem with “The Hiding Place,” they also took issue with any other book that was written by a Christian author or included a Christian message. “We do not purchase sectarian educational materials and do not allow sectarian materials on our state-authorized lending shelves,” Superintendent Kathleen Hermsmeyer wrote in a letter to attorneys at the Pacific Justice Institute (PJI).

Health officials in West Texas have begun testing some babies for tuberculosis after the revelation that more than 700 infants at an El Paso hospital were exposed to a worker found to have the disease. The children may have been exposed at a nursery in the Providence Memorial Hospital of El Paso between September 2013 and last month, when a health care worker tested positive for TB. (Snip) Saldivar said local health officials do not know why the worker was not tested by the hospital until Aug. 21 if the person had symptoms as early as December. Also, officials are still investigating how and when the worker became infected,

The Republican Party’s top leader in Congress is catching flak for a comment that appears to call the jobless lazy – a comment that has rekindled an old challenge for the party: appearing insensitive or uncaring toward Americans who are poor or in financial difficulty. House Speaker John Boehner was asked after a speech last week to comment on a plan for addressing poverty – promoted by a Republican colleague, Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin. Speaker Boehner gave a response that was favorable toward Representative Ryan´s plan, but not so favorable about Americans’ work ethic.

Why is each human face unique? It´s a question a child might ask. The tempting response for a harried parent is, "Just because." After all, no two products of nature, be they clouds, snowflakes, or fingerprints, are exact duplicates. Mother Nature is no Henry Ford; those variations in shape, color, and texture are just part of the production process. (Snip) Your face, they say, is what biologists call a signal, a mechanism that, like the shimmering tail of a peacock or the Day-Glo skin of a poison frog, sends a message to other organisms about who you are. But how could one possibly test this hypothesis?

The FBI requires state and local police to keep quiet about the capabilities of a controversial type of surveillance gear that allows law enforcement to eavesdrop on cell phone calls and track individual people based on the signals emitted by their mobile devices, according to a bureau document released recently under a Freedom of Information Act request. The December 2012 document is a heavily redacted letter between the FBI and police in Tacoma, Wash., as the local department sought to acquire an IMSI catcher, sometimes described as a “fake cell phone tower” because it tricks individual phones into routing their

With the two-year anniversary of Hurricane Sandy approaching, federal officials announced on Monday that New York and New Jersey will receive about $3.3 billion to prepare their transportation networks against future storms. The biggest pieces of the funding package will go to the New York City subway system and commuter rail systems in the surrounding region. More than one-third of all the new money will go to the subway system for projects to make rail yards, stations and equipment less susceptible to flooding. Baghdad - The army base in Iraq’s western Anbar province had been under siege by Islamic State militants for a week, so when a convoy of armored Humvees rolled up at the gate, the Iraqi soldiers at Camp Saqlawiyah believed saviors had arrived. But this was no rescue attempt. The vehicles were driven by militants on suicide missions, and within seconds on Sunday the base had become a bloody scene of multiple bombings. On Monday, a day after the attack, five survivors — including three officers — said that between 300 and 500 soldiers were missing and believed to be dead, kidnapped or in hiding.

President Barack Obama saluted a pair of United States Marines on Tuesday while holding what appeared to be a styrofoam cup in his saluting hand, a breach of military regulations that won´t win him fans among veterans and servicemen. Obama is known for drinking tea, not coffee, when he travels, especially before delivering speeches. His quasi-saluting gesture was an instant embarrassment for the White House, and not because his environmentally taboo drinkware clashed with the green-policy speech he was on his way to deliver at a UN Climate Summit. The United Nations Climate Summit will begin in New York this Tuesday, but environmental activists didn’t wait. All day Sunday, they filled the streets of Manhattan for a march that featured Al Gore, New York City mayor Bill de Blasio, and various Hollywood actors. But they certainly didn’t act like a movement that was winning. There was a tone of fatalism in the comments of many with whom I spoke; they despair that the kind of radical change they advocate probably won’t result from the normal democratic process. It’s no surprise then that the rhetoric of climate-change activists has become increasingly

He was a leading figure in one of the biggest climate change marches to date. But it seems Robert F Kennedy Jr was not so forthcoming when it came to questions about his own carbon footprint. Confronted by a reporter asking if he would give up his phone and car, the environmental lawyer became visibly irate before grabbing the microphone and accusing her of ´destroying democracy´ as a member of the press. The interview in New York yesterday afternoon started with a conversation about the number of flyers produced for the event, which Kennedy Jr claimed was necessary to garner ´people power´.
