Ted Cruz hits Iowa right after
a big conservative win - again

Des Moines Register [IA], by Jennifer Jacobs

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz bagged three pheasants on a hunt with U.S. Rep. Steve King in northwest Iowa back in October. "I was laughing," the Texas senator said in a sit-down interview with The Des Moines Register, "because every time anyone shot a bird, everyone would call out, ´Good shot, senator.´ I told Steve, ´This is the only hunt I´ve ever been on where I got credited for more birds than I had shells.´" As Cruz touched down in the presidential testing grounds of Iowa again today, he was yet again a hot topic on the national stage. Senator Cruz is closer to The People than perhaps any other Congressman. He is an exceptional lawyer who as Solicitor General took on and won cases for the TX people against the federal government. When Kay Bailey Hutchison retired something like 9 GOP conservatives competed for the seat. The establishment Lt Gov was the favorite but Ted forced a runoff and defeated him handily against dirty and well funded campaign. He hit DC by storm and has confidently done what he promised the voters he would do. He is highly popular on the campaign trail and has talked to voters in a large number of the states. There is no question that Ted kept a lot of conservative House members from buckling to the lousy compromise bill that Speaker Boehner offered.

He most closely resembles the James Stewart character in Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. One man against the whole corrupt machine and media too (the scenes in that movie of voter and speech repression in his home state are chilling even now).

#1 nailed it. Senator Cruz has the intelligence to believe in the American people and their ability to understand what Washington DC is doing. He believes in an open government.

Not a single democrat along with most establishment republicans believes in an open government, because they all think we Americans are just too stupid to understand what they are doing.

Ted Cruz could fire up the American people, give them hope that all is not lost. I am optimistic that the grassroots will protect him against Democrats, the media, and his fellow Republicans to give him that chance.

We who now envy Israel, Canada, Australia, Russia and India for their strong leaders (and who experienced Ronald Reagan firsthand, rather than through some leftist textbook) deserve to be proud again.

Clearly some deep thinkers haven´t noticed that Goldman Sachs is already in the White House, having given Obama more money than they´ve ever given any candidate in their political donation history. Nobody from GS has been investigated or charged in the big Wall Street corruption scandal either.

One of Obama´s nicknames is "President Goldman Sachs".

Too busy deep thinkin´ (and emotionally hating Ted Cruz) to realize all of that, I guess.

Bravo #1. Also, #6 brought up such an important point! One of the reasons Cruz is so effective and confident? He KNOWS how to maneuver successfully in that snooty world of elites from the Ivy League schools. Trying to hang the "Texas hick" label round his neck ain´t gonna work and libs know it too. He knows these people and he knows how to beat them at their own game!

A new proposal for campaign finance reform would make Saturday Night Live’s political skits illegal, Republican Sen. Ted Cruz has warned. The Senate is debating a proposal to add a constitutional amendment allowing Congress reverse a 2010 Supreme Court decision and restore limits on corporate campaign spending. Republicans say the proposal, put forward by Dems, is an attack on free speech. Cruz, however, went one step further and connected the dots to NBC’s late-night sketch comedy show, and its exec producer Lorne Michaels. “Lorne Michaels could be put in jail under this amendment for making fun of any politician. Alex Hermann was struck by lightning Aug. 26 at a sports complex in Bee Cave, just west of Austin, and remains in a "semi-vegetative state," the family´s lawyer told KEYE TV. Thirteen years ago, the United States was changed in a profound way. A major attack on the homeland by a non-state foreign actor had never happened before, and the consequences — thousands of deaths, landmarks destroyed and damaged — were terrifying. The policy repercussions, from the Patriot Act to the Guantanamo Bay prison to wars in Afghanistan and Iraq to airport security measures to creation of the Department of Homeland Security to reorganization of the intelligence agencies, were even more far-reaching. In part as a result of these changes, the United States has gone for 13 years without another devastating

The new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll came out yesterday and it offers brutal news for President Obama and Democrats. It is worth looking at it in some depth. Overall, Obama’s job approval is unchanged, which might be called good news for the president, except that it remains at a low in this poll for the administration. Forty percent approve versus 54 percent who disapprove. This puts the poll toward the low end of the approval scale, but the NBC/WSJ poll is of registered voters, which probably makes it mildly less disposed to the president. The administration official calling House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa’s (R-Calif.) office last week had an odd request. Apparently thinking he had reached the office of Democratic Rep. Elijah Cummings (Md.), Fallon said the department wanted congressional staffers to get documents to selected reporters so that officials could comment on them “before the majority” did. After Issa spokesman Frederick Hill replied that Oversight Committee staffers would have to examine those documents first, the
