Israel will not send envoys to Gaza truce negotiations in Egypt on Saturday as planned, an Israeli official said, accusing Hamas of misleading international mediators. "Hamas is not interested in an accommodation," the official said on condition of anonymity. An Egyptian-brokered ceasefire on Friday broke down within hours on Friday. Comments:
Good to see Reuters reporting on the truce-breaking killings and abduction. Unfortunately, they´re also reporting Obama telling Hamas to hand over the soldier "as soon as possible." Depends on the meaning of "possible," doesn´t it, "and there´s no mention of whether that poor young fellow should be dead or alive when he´s handed back. The body may never be found.

On the good side, I´ve been watching Israeli tanks fire on targets in Gaza. Use alternative browser and go to:

If no luck, search at Google News for ´Gaza live video´ at the Telegraph, choose the latest url. Hope it works.

U.S. President Barack Obama on Friday called on Hamas to unconditionally release Second Lieutenant (Platoon Leader) Hadar Goldin, who is feared kidnapped in Gaza. [Snip] “I think it’s important to note that we have and I have unequivocally condemned Hamas and the Palestinian factions that were responsible for killing two Israeli soldiers and abducting a third minutes after a ceasefire was announced,” he said, according to the Guardian. “I want to make sure they are listening... That soldier needs to be unconditionally released as soon as possible,” he added. "I think it´s going to be very hard to put a ceasefire back together

The Foreign Office is urgently investigating reports that a soldier thought to have been captured by Hamas fighters in Gaza is a British Israeli. Lieutenant Hadar Goldin, 23, is believed to be from a family of Jewish immigrants and the third cousin of Israeli Defence Minister Moshe Yaalon. He disappeared when a humanitarian ceasefire brokered by the United States and the United Nations collapsed into more bloodshed just hours after it was supposed to take effect. Reports of the kidnapping provoked a furious backlash from Israel, with former deputy defence minister, Danny Danon saying: ´If we don´t get the soldier

The White House has condemned an attack by Hamas terrorists on IDF forces, in which two soldiers were killed and another feared abducted, as a "barbaric" violation of a humanitarian ceasefire which began just hours before. Second Lieutenant (Platoon Leader) Hadar Goldin, 23, from Kfar Saba went missing during a fierce firefight on the outskirts of Rafah in Gaza. Following the attack, Israel announced that the truce was over. "This is an outrageous action and we look to the rest of the world to join us in condemning it," White House Deputy National Security Adviser Tony Blinken told MSNBC television.

An enterprising blogger´s diligent spadework has revealed the truth behind an Israeli ´massacre´ that never was. (H/T Jonathan Foreman) According to the Hamas version of events--widely promulgated in the media by ITN, the Telegraph and the Belfast Telegraph--an Israeli airstrike on a crowded market place during a partial ceasefire in the Shijaiyah neighbourhood of Gaza City on July 30th, 2014 was responsible for the deaths of 17 people, including blue-helmeted photojournalist Rani Rayan. However as Thomas Wictor has incontrovertibly demonstrated using close analysis of film footage of the incident, the deaths were not caused by Israeli shrapnel but by secondary

A Hamas attack on IDF soldiers in southern Gaza, which occurred an hour and a half after the start of a humanitarian truce, ended with the suspected kidnapping of a soldier, the IDF said Friday. [Snip] Terrorists emerged from a tunnel shaft, and a suicide bomber detonated himself in the vicinity of soldiers. Heavy exchanges of fire ensued, before one of the IDF soldiers was kidnapped, a senior army source said. The IDF said the incident occurred at 9:30 a.m., but a spokesman for Hamas´s military wing claimed the terrorists came out of the tunnel and took part in the ensuing

Israeli shelling killed 40 people in southern Gaza on Friday, a Gazan hospital spokesman said, just hours after a 72-hour humanitarian ceasefire took effect. Hamas is in no rush for a cease-fire despite being continually pummeled by Israeli attacks, according to some observers. That is because it knows that Israel and the West are seeking a cease-fire, which would, once again, allow them to rebuild and rearm. And as the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt saw many deaths since the overthrow of president Mohamed Morsi, the Palestinian branch of Hamas is also willing to sacrifice lives. After all, their motto is, “Allah is our objective. The Prophet is our leader. The Koran is our law. Jihad is our way. Dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope.”

The United Nations slammed Israel for possibly committing war crimes in its fight against Hamas — and then backed that accusation by suggesting the Jewish nation ought to be sharing its Iron Dome defensive technology with the very terror group it’s fighting. Human Rights Council that Israel was falling short in its duty to protect citizens in the Gaza Strip from getting killed by its rockets. “There is a strong possibility that international law has been violated, in a

An independent panel appointed by the Pentagon and Congress said Thursday that President Obama’s strategy for sizing the armed services is too weak for today’s global threats. The National Defense Panel called on the president to dump a major section of his 2014 Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR) and write a broader strategy that requires the military to fight on multiple fronts at once. It also said the shrinking U.S. armed forces, which are being downsized to fit that strategy and budget cuts, is a “serious strategic misstep on the part of the United States.” The forces’ numbers spelled out in Mr. Obama’s

Bill O’Reilly obviously doesn’t care for how President Obama and the Democrats are running things, but tonight he also had some tough words for the GOP. He asked guest Kate Obenshain why the Republicans continue to remain in the muck with the left and try to “destroy one another” instead of getting things done. O’Reilly asked, “Shouldn’t they rise above it?” Obenshain argued that it’s Democrats doing all the nasty politicking and name-calling, as well as the ginning up of impeachment. O’Reilly, however, noted some conservatives are bringing it up and said there’s “plenty of hate on both sides.” Obenshain objected, “No,

Perhaps it says something about us that our most interesting presidential candidates swear they won´t run for president. This is true of Sen. I´ve also expressed skepticism about the notion he would run again. But let´s not let "a foolish consistency" cloud our judgment. There is reason to believe that a third try wouldn´t be an absurd venture. First, in the intervening years since 2012 — and on a range of issues, not the least of which is
