Comments:
Seems like a good way to improve communication and accountability between teachers, students and parents. Does anybody have any experience with an app like this?

Something like this has lots of positives. I just hope it doesn´t replace communicating directly with the child over what´s happening at school.

Our district (Boulder Valley) has Infinite Campus. The idea behind it is good. The actual use can be challenging. For example, if the teacher does not keep up with entering the grades it is next to worthless. My daughter had an English teacher who sporadically entered grades and only got caught up on the last day of school.

Like anything else in tech, GIGO.

A San Francisco man arrested on suspicion of posing as a police officer and coercing Central American immigrants into committing sexual acts pleaded not guilty to kidnapping and assault charges, authorities said. Jeffrey Bugai, 35, was charged with two counts of kidnapping with the intent to commit a sex-related offense, said San Francisco Assistant Dist. Atty. Alex Bastian. The charges stem from encounters Bugai allegedly had with two men, Bastian said.

LONDON -- Artist Tracey Emin has sold her bed - and the disheveled sheets, empty vodka bottles, cigarette butts and discarded condoms were part of the lucrative deal. Emin´s artwork "My Bed" sold for 2.54 million pounds ($4.4 million) at a London auction Tuesday, more than double the pre-sale estimate and four times the previous record for the artist. Emin, who has mined her tumultuous personal life for some of her best-known works, attended the auction and grinned when the hammer came down. The work was sold by collector Charles Saatchi, an early supporter of Emin and other modern British artists.

President Obama was nowhere to be found during the beginning of a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine commission in Wales on Thursday. Obama was "noticeably absent" from the start of the meeting, according to a White House pool report, although U.S. Ambassador to NATO Douglas Lute was in attendance.Obama was late to the Ukraine meeting because of other meetings on Afghanistan and a meeting with King Abdullah of Jordan, according to a White House official.Back at the Ukraine meeting, leaders were addressed by NATO Secretary General Anders Rasmussen, who urged Russia to stop the "illegal" annexation of Crimea. “We call on Russia

Barack Obama stands apart from other modern American Presidents in many ways. (snip)the widespread view that he is the coolest President ever. This supernal coolness is not new. In his autobiography, Dreams From My Father, the President wrote that in his teenage years “I tried my best to be cool at all times” (p. 82). However, leaving aside the contradiction inherent in trying to be cool, it is possible that Barack Obama’s teenage experiences may have left him psychologically, and perhaps even neurologically, incapable of performing fundamental tasks of his current position. Much of the appeal of coolness is its

Last Wednesday, at a ceremony to appoint Texas lawyer Shaarik Zafar to be special representative to Muslim communities, Secretary of State John Kerry said it was the United States’ Biblical “responsibility” to “confront climate change,” including to protect “vulnerable Muslim majority counties.” Kerry said Scripture, in particular the Book of Genesis, makes clear it is our “duty” to protect the planet and we should look at Muslim countries “with a sense of stewardship of earth,” adding, “That responsibility comes from God.” And here you thought all along that “Uncle Joe” was the resident crazy in the Obama administration.

Maybe the news that a second American has been beheaded will force President Obama to recognize he has no more compelling priority today than stopping the Islamic State and its bloodletting. In its latest barbarity, ISIS aimed to project American weakness to the world. Just before he beheaded Steven Sotloff, the ISIS executioner explained the butchery this way: I’m back, Obama, and I’m back because of your arrogant foreign policy towards the Islamic State, because of your insistence on continuing your bombings.?.?. So just as your missiles continue to strike our people, our knife will continue to strike the necks of your

Up to 70 veteran USA Today journalists, editors, and others were laid off Wednesday, and reports claim that the newly unemployed were "marched out by security" and within 15 minutes had their email accounts shut off. The layoffs came as no surprise after the Gannett Company followed the lead of many other companies that have already separated and spun off their dying publishing business into separate companies. It was only a few weeks ago that Gannett did the same. USA Today is Gannett´s flagship publication and enjoys the highest circulation of any other American newspaper. Nonetheless, The New York Times reports that

Legendary comedienne Joan Rivers died on Thursday — exactly a week after she was rushed to a Manhattan hospital when she stopped breathing during a routine throat procedure, sources told The Post. She was 81. Rivers’ daughter, Melissa, had been keeping vigil by her mother’s bedside at Mount Sinai Hospital as her condition failed to improve since she went into cardiac arrest on Aug. 28 at Yorkville Endoscopy. She was moved from the intensive care unit to a private room on Wednesday. The State Health Department has launched an investigation into the clinic. A funeral for Rivers has been planned for Sunday at

Secretary of State John Kerry´s speech at the groundbreaking ceremony for the U.S. Diplomacy Center in Washington, D.C. Wednesday included an intriguing aside that appeared to reference the upcoming 2016 presidential election. Kerry spoke after remarks by each of the five former secretaries of state in attendance: Henry Kissinger, James Baker, III, Madeleine Albright, Colin Powell, and Hillary Clinton (Condoleezza Rice and George Shultz were not present.) After extolling the accomplishments of each of the five former top diplomats, Kerry said, "Join me, all of you, in thanking five of our six living former

LAS VEGAS — Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Thursday the U.S. should become what she called the world’s 21st-century clean energy superpower, during remarks resembling both a campaign speech and a call to action at the annual National Clean Energy Summit in Las Vegas. Clinton cast the threat of global climate change as real, and “the most consequential, urgent, sweeping collection of challenges” faced by the nation and the world. “The data is unforgiving,” the former New York senator and first lady said to a standing room crowd of more than 800 people at a Las Vegas

The home-cooked meal has long been romanticized, from ’50s-era sitcoms to the work of star food writer Michael Pollan, who once wrote, “far from oppressing them, the work of cooking approached in the proper spirit offered a kind of fulfillment and deserved an intelligent woman’s attention.” In recent years, the home-cooked meal has increasingly been offered up as the solution to our country´s burgeoning nutrition-related health problems of heart disease and diabetes. But while home-cooked meals are typically healthier than restaurant food, sociologists Sarah Bowen, Sinikka Elliott, and Joslyn Brenton from North Carolina State University argue that the stress that

The White House issued special praise for drugstore chain CVS for its decision to stop selling tobacco products. The chain announced the move in conjunction with changing its name to CVS Health. State Rep. John Bennett of Sequoyah wrote the comments on Monday night. Oklahoma´s Council on American-Islamic Relations called on Republican Party leaders to denounce the comments on Wednesday. "I was really disappointed that someone who is elected to represent the people would put something so negative out there,” said Adam Soltani, CAIR-Oklahoma Executive

A C.I.A. station chief reportedly stopped five American commandos from responding immediately to the attack on a U.S. diplomatic base in Benghazi, Libya, in 2012 that left four Americans dead, it was reported Thursday. “13 Hours,” a book written by the five commandos that is due out next week, says the C.I.A chief had them wait in a car for 20 minutes while the attack took place about a mile away, according to The New York Times, which obtained a copy .
