Alabama leaders blast
Obama administration over
Alabama Power´s coal closures

Alabama Power´s announcement that it would shutter several coal units in the state is tangible evidence that President Barack Obama´s "war on coal" is having negative consequences, critics said Friday. The company announced Friday that it would reduce the amount of coal it burns to comply with new Environmental Protection Agency regulations governing emissions. The changes, which the company said it would phase in the changes by 2016, will affect seven small power plants. Alabama Power said the changes will eliminate 60 jobs in Greene County, although officials said it would reduce the workforce through attrition and transfers,

For those of you not from Alabama,Maureen County is one of the poorest counties in the state. It can ill afford to lose 60 jobs...

Alabama leaders huff and puff and do nothing. How about some well placed civil disobedience to protest arbitrary EPA regulations? Keep the plants running.

To save the planet from human induced global climate change (is that some kind of Orwellian newspeak?), sacrifices such as these jobs must be made. Those that lost their jobs must feel immense satisfaction knowing their high sacrifice upon the alter of environmentalism will further the cause of fascism and environmentalism. For those of us that have jobs and are not in a position to sacrifice our lively hoods and family security for such a nobel cause, we all feel ashamed of our inability to sacrifice as these 60 have. But for those that have made the ultimate livelihood sacrifice, please know that the 4 seasons will now occur unabated, the sun will rise in the east and the sky will remain blue thanks to them.

Its not ill conceived, it is very carefully planned to drive up electricity costs and to create a carbon subsidy for wind and solar power. He hoped that he´d get a bounce with his base while the opposition required some time to read and understand the rule. I´m grateful that Alabama Power has done that rapidly enough to raise some opposition before the election. EPA will respond that they can keep operating the plants if they limit their usage and buy enough carbon credits from the wind power folks.

As #2 said, Alabama, why don´t you tell the fedgiv to pound sand? Several western states did to their drug ´laws´ (see Colorado) and their immigration ´laws´ (see California) so why can´t you, too, to their epa ´laws´?

fedgiv = fedgov; though I suppose the first is just as accurate as they have a penchant for giving away taxpayer money to buy votes and tear down this Republic.

Eric Holder Jr., the nation´s first black U.S. attorney general, is preparing to announce his resignation Thursday after a tumultuous tenure marked by civil rights advances, national security threats, reforms to the criminal justice system and five and a half years of fights with Republicans in Congress. Two sources familiar with the decision tell NPR that Holder, 63, intends to leave the Justice Department as soon as his successor is confirmed, a process that could run through 2014 and even into next year. A former U.S. government official says Holder has been increasingly "adamant" about his desire to leave soon

The View is a television show that, apparently, a lot of women watch. Currently, Rosie O’Donnell, who was once famous for something–I have no idea what–is one of the hosts. Still, many women watch. So this video of The View’s women grappling with the Obama administration’s response to ISIS terrorism is noteworthy. I want to highlight O’Donnell’s contribution near the end: We are bombing Syria because Syria has so much oil, so there is a “financial incentive.” What the Hell is this supposed to mean? Why are liberals obsessed with oil? And what, exactly, is the “financial incentive?” Here is the

(Video) The City of Seattle just passed a new trash ordinance that would fine residents and businesses for throwing away too much food. The new rules would allow garbage collectors to inspect trash cans and ticket offending parties if food and compostable material makes up 10 percent or more of the trash. The fines will begin at $1 for residents and $50 for businesses and apartment buildings, according to the Seattle Times. Seattle Public Utilities requested the new rules after falling short of its recycling goals of 60 percent of trash by 2015, according to the Times. The recycling rate in

President Obama on Wednesday delivered a speech at the United Nations filled with his usual soaring rhetoric of global collectivism and the importance of “international norms.” But the president also displayed a shocking naivete about global affairs, religion, Islam — a Pollyannaish interpretation on the state of the world and America’s role in it. Although Mr. Obama won a Nobel Peace Prize just eight months into office, the president made his annual trip to the ineffectual world council to deliver a call to war. “Ladies and gentlemen, we come together at a crossroads between war and peace,

Normally, no one would care that in a recent Atlantic essay — “Why I Hope to Die at 75” — 57-year-old Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel argued that living to be 75 years old was long enough for anyone. After 75, Emanuel suggests, “We are no longer remembered as vibrant and engaged but as feeble, ineffectual, even pathetic.” But Emanuel is no garden-variety crackpot. Nor is he a wannabe science-fiction writer dreaming of a centrally planned planet of robust youthful humanoids. Unfortunately, he was one of the chief architects of the troubled Affordable Care Act and a key medical advisor to the Obama

The Rev. Al Sharpton said his civil rights organization, the National Action Network, is "engaged in immediate conversations" with the White House as they work to name a successor to Attorney General Eric Holder, who is set to announce his resignation Thursday afternoon. "We are engaged in immediate conversations with the White House on deliberations over a successor whom we hope will continue in the general direction of Attorney General Holder," Sharpton said in a statement. Sharpton praised Holder, the first African-American attorney general, as the "best" one in history when it comes to civil rights. "The resignation of Attorney General Eric Holder

The Los Angeles City Council voted Wednesday to raise the minimum wage for hotel workers to $15.37, one of the highest wage requirements in the country. Hotel workers in yellow shirts packed City Hall as the council voted 12 to 3 to approve the measure, which will go into effect for hotels with at least 300 rooms beginning in July. Hotels with 150 rooms or more will have to meet the wage requirement a year later. “Hotel workers are here because they want family-supporting wages,” said Maria Elena Durazo, executive secretary-treasurer of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, during the public

Even though Republicans may take back the Senate by running against amnesty, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush pushed amnesty legislation while stumping for North Carolina Republican Senate candidate Thom Tillis on Wednesday. Bush, according to the New York Times, reportedly said that comprehensive immigration reform "will restore and sustain economic growth for this country." And even though a recent Gallup poll found that illegal immigration is now the top concern among Republicans, Bush said that if immigration reform is "framed in that way, I don’t think there’s a big debate in the Republican Party about the need to do this."

Wednesday, First Lady Michelle Obama said that American women are suffering under "harmful cultural norms" at a U.N. education event. Mrs. Obama said, "Women here are still woefully underrepresented in our government and the senior ranks of corporations. We still struggle with violence against woman and harmful cultural norms that tell woman how they are expected to look and act."

President Barack Obama favorably quoted and praised on Wednesday in his speech before the United Nations a controversial Muslim cleric whose organization has reportedly endorsed the terror group Hamas and supported a fatwa condoning the murder of U.S. soldiers in Iraq. Obama in his remarks offered praise to controversial cleric Sheikh Abdallah Bin Bayyah and referred to him as a moderate Muslim leader who can help combat the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant’s (ISIL or ISIS) radical ideology. However, Bin Bayyah himself has long been engulfed in controversy for many of his views, including the reported backing of

Meet the Press host Chuck Todd appeared on MSNBC just after news broke that Attorney General Eric “nation of cowards” Holder is resigning. Todd said something that it’s hard to believe that even he believes . TODD: “He did a lot of tough stuff that you would say hey, attorney general has to do tough stuff, this is not a forgiving job, you have to do tough stuff, but what’s interesting about him, he is a very nonpolitical person. People used to mistakenly think that this guy was this long time political operative that happened to be an=q attorney general. That’s not him at all.
