Obama military downsizing leaves U.S. too
weak to counter global threats, panel finds

Washington Times, by Rowan Scarborough

An independent panel appointed by the Pentagon and Congress said Thursday that President Obama’s strategy for sizing the armed services is too weak for today’s global threats. The National Defense Panel called on the president to dump a major section of his 2014 Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR) and write a broader strategy that requires the military to fight on multiple fronts at once. It also said the shrinking U.S. armed forces, which are being downsized to fit that strategy and budget cuts, is a “serious strategic misstep on the part of the United States.” The forces’ numbers spelled out in Mr. Obama’s

We all knew it years ago. Democrats also put military spending down the tube and this socialist is no different.

FTA: It calls the defense cuts “dangerous” as “global threats and challenges are rising.”

It bears repeating here. What would anyone do differently if they were hell bent on destroying these United States than Obama is doing right now both with his domestic and foreign policies? No one is THIS incompetent. Only by design is everything falling into place.

The chaos he has created in the Middle East and now the utter chaos at our sieve of a border is proof that the only agenda Obama has is one destructive to this country. Look around you. Everything Obama touches puts us in a vulnerable position. We are ripe for the picking and someone will not be able to resist the temptation to take a bite out of us. Now we know when that happens, we will not be prepared to defend ourselves. Who in their right mind would downsize the military when our enemies are on the march? He does nothing to protect the power grid in this country when experts advise of its vulnerability. He puts out the welcome mat on the border for anyone, friend or foe. Obama is working his plan and his supporters are too star struck to realize he is leaving us all vulnerable to attack. One thing is for certain and that is the day of reckoning is quickly approaching because evil men will take advantage of our weakness and it will likely be sooner than later. When that happens, the anti-American zealot in the White House deserves full responsibility.

Well said, #2. I would add that not enough people are taking seriously that all the bad things happening to America, foreign and domestically, are deliberate.

It seems very far out to assign to the President of the United States motives that do not have her best interests at heart, but that is really the case.

Everything he has said and still says about America either denigrates her or her people -- everyone who doesn´t agree with his radicalized ideas of what is right.

A man is known by the people he draws near to. When you look at the people surrounding Obama and doing his bidding, ALL are far Leftists. That´s not simply a political description; it comes with a dangerous agenda for any country that wants to keep its people free, its growth steady, and its borders strong, not to mention its economy being kept booming.

As I look around this charred landscape, I blame millions of people who made this POTUS believe he had a mandate to "fundamentally remake America." Did they think they were just words?

Why did they vote for him? Because he wasn´t Bush and he wasn´t white and they needed to feel good about being liberal.

It couldn´t be more obvious. Simultaneously gutting our military, opening up our southern border so ANYONE can cross it unimpeded, letting our enemies acquire nukes, and destroying our economy so we won´t be able to recover once he leaves office. The only question is...why aren´t our Congress, our Supreme Court, and our military leaders treating this as the existential threat that it is?

This should be like Drudge´s spinning red light and siren to every single American. We have an enemy in the White House. Stop him before he succeeds in destroying us.

Excellent, #s 4 and 2

It took the Left decades of careful grooming of American student through a corrupted education system, to produce a vacuous apathetic and frivolous population.

Sowing hatred for their own country, distrust of its Founders and founding principles; denigration of the religious principles that undergird a moral foundation which have kept America a force for good in the world, the Left, motivated by the arrogance of its nihilistic philosophy, has succeeded in reducing the population to fools.

We certainly do not believe America is perfect, never does wrong, but there probably never has been such an introspective people in history, seeking to be better, correct the wrongs and make recompense and restrain the use of its great power.

The Left, however, does not believe this (testimony of history) and therefore as soon as it has legislative and executive power begins dismantling the military.

The official decline began when his demonstrated performance led to re-election against Romney. I don´t believe a Republican can ever be president again. The tipping point has been reached.
Jesus himself couldn´t be elected in Detroit if he ran as a Republican. We are now a democracy not a republic which means the two fox will out vote the chicken for what´s for dinner. We live in interesting times.

Maybe that´s the lesson this country needs. Somebody like Putin will smell our weakness and go straight for the jugular. A good butt-whipping is exactly what it takes to encourage patriots to rise up and do what it takes to replace a dysfunctional government. This time it will take a lot longer, but we are Americans after all, some of us.

The announcement that the DC politicians had decided to reduce the military budget over the sequester was just as disturbing as the night Obama won the 2008 election. It was mind boggling the Republicans were going along with it and quite disappointing.

Democrats are always helping the enemy such as the way Bill Clinton was instrumental in giving North Korea a nuclear reactor.

The Russian military tactic of past was to overwhelm in numbers, so it makes sense Obama would want to make it easy for them and diminish us from within.

The reign of Elizabeth I was called The Golden Age, placing her, along with her notorious father, among the most famous monarchs in English or British history. And the reign of His Imperious Majesty, King Putt, should be considered The Golden Age for America´s enemies.

Hope and change appears to have progressed in roughly two stages. During Obama´s first term, "hope" was nurtured by pleasant talk and promises. The meaning of his messages was left largely to the needs and desires of listeners. Obama-talk was often enhanced by the liberal use of his flash smile.

The second stage, the "change" phase, and his real agenda all along, has now become obvious to many people: Weaken America in the eyes of the world, while making citizens more dependent on big government.

Do they believe that they will be spared just because "they care"? If history is any judge, they will be the first to go. And so will all of their fantasy dreams. Obama is doing what he directly confided during the 2008 primaries he would do. But none of the PC-whipped MSM paid attention, and the relevant interview videos gradually went away during his first few months in office.

THAT is why I so grieve losing the ability to download and save video clips. Everything´s protected behind a flash widget now, denying us the ability to preserve evidence.

He also said he would challenge Russia to join us in dismantling our nations´ combined nuclear arsenals, and would proceed with ours, unilaterally, should Russia balk (as a show of good faith)... The MSM will need to decide beforehand: Will they pretend to be surprised if he does that? Or will they just pretend it isn´t happening?

The 11 members of the all-Democratic Massachusetts congressional delegation have been asked to pony up at least $25,000 each from their political funds for the party’s financially struggling gubernatorial nominee, Martha Coakley. At least three of them have initially balked at the idea, however, exposing some of the problems Coakley faces in getting full support from the Democratic establishment as she and the party struggle to close a fund-raising gap with GOP rival Charlie Baker and the state Republican Party. I have written frequently that I estimate that one-third of the mortgage foreclosures in the 2007-10 period were of Hispanic homebuyers. Very many had been granted mortgages, despite bad or dubious credit, by lenders who then fobbed them off on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac or other mortgage securitizers, in the meantime gaining brownie points with regulators for lending to “minorities.” Evidence supporting this comes, inadvertently, from an Urban Institute report spotlighted by the industrious and provocative blogger Steve Sailer. A mental case jumps the White House fence. He makes it to the East Room before he’s tackled by an off-duty Secret Service agent. Initial statements turn out to be misleading or false. We discover that lapses in

President Obama was at Northwestern University on Thursday to deliver an economic speech that, he and his team hoped, would lay out the case for why the public is better off today than they were six years ago -- even if they didn´t feel it in their everday lives. Instead, Obama just gave every Republican ad-maker in the country more fodder for negative ads linking Democratic candidates to him. Here are the four sentences that will draw all of the attention (they come more than two thirds of the way through the speech): "I am not on the ballot this

A recent fight between Rosie O´Donnell and Whoopi Goldberg has producers at The View looking to add a cool-down room for the ladies. After being cut off by Goldberg during an episode last week so the show could go to commercial, O´Donnell began to express how upset she was and, after being told repeatedly by Goldberg it was not the right time to have that discussion, eventually got cursed out by the Oscar winner. Goldberg told O´Donnell, ´F*** it, I told you to leave it alone and you just don´t want to listen. If you want to go there Rosie,

A presidential defeat isn’t an easy thing to bounce back from. And Mitt Romney did it twice. So it was understandable that after he lost the presidential race in 2012, he was adamant about closing the door to the possibility of a third campaign. But recently, speculation is whirling that Romney may not be so adamant anymore. When asked if he was running in a New York Times interview published earlier this week, Romney said : “I have nothing to add to the story. We’ve got a lot of people looking at the race,” he said. “We’ll see what happens.” That response, which

Meghan McCain joined the dog pile on the Secret Service this week, saying she’s had “nothing but horrible experiences" with the agency and likening the agents to “glorified mall cops.” The 29-year-old author and television personality, who is also the daughter of former GOP presidential candidate Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), opened up on Pivot’s “TakePart Live” about some of her interactions with the Secret Service. "I have nothing but horrible experiences with the Secret Service,” McCain said. “One of my friends called them glorified mall cops and I don´t think that´s terribly far off. I found them cliquey. I hated

WASHINGTON — Representative Elijah E. Cummings of Maryland was at the grocery store the other day when he ran into an elderly black woman who expressed growing concern about President Obama’s safety. Why, she asked, wasn’t he being better protected by his Secret Service agents? The furor that led to this week’s resignation of the director of the Secret Service resonated deeply among blacks, outraged that those supposed to be guarding the first black president were somehow falling down on the job — and suspicious even without evidence that it may be deliberate. “It is something that is widespread in

On Wednesday, the ex-CNN talk show host wrote his first story as editor-at-large for the Daily Mail. While the content is vicious, angry and sure to tickle conservative journalists and pols, the writing is colorful, even entertaining.“A slapdash Secret Service detail isn’t what’s wrong with the White House — the real scandal is a President who is so complacent about protecting Americans,” the headline blares. Piers predicts that now that President Obama went on “60 Minutes” and distanced himself from U.S. national intelligence agencies on the rapid spread of ISIS, he’s guaranteed himself leaks to the media for the remainder of his

Go to a grocery store in California and buy all the milk, eggs and vegetables you want. But there’s one thing you won’t find at the checkout line, beginning July 1, 2015: Plastic bags to carry your stuff home. Gov. Jerry Brown (D) on Tuesday signed into law a ban on single-use plastic bags, making California the first state to prohibit stores from using the ubiquitous carry-alls. Shoppers will be charged 10 cents for every paper bag and heavy-duty plastic bag they use. “This bill is a step in the right direction,” Brown said in a press release announcing his approval. “It

Speaking at a Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors event last night, Hillary Clinton decided to talk about Alexis de Tocqueville. The problem? She got it wrong -- by about a hundred years. "There´s a wonderful phrase that was first used by Alexis de Tocqueville, who came to the United States in the very early 1930s and traveled around our country," said Hillary Clinton, a probable 2016 presidential candidate. "And he was so amazed at how Americans organized themselves -- you know, coming from aristocratic Europe, which was totally top-down and hierarchical -- he couldn´t believe how many of us were joiners.
