Republicans deliver another
self-inflicted wound

Washington Post, by Dan Balz

Republicans may yet win the elections in November. They may end up in control of both houses of Congress come January. But in the final week before a lengthy August recess, they have shown a remarkable capacity to complicate their path to victory. The latest blow came Thursday in what has become predictable fashion: chaos in the House. Amid fractious infighting, House leaders abruptly pulled their alternative to President Obama’s bill to deal with the influx of Central American children crossing the border. What was said to be a national crisis turned into one more problem facing deferral. But there

Poor leadership, lack of a coherent strategy, pathetic communication to the people, selling out its constituency and trying to crush the Tea Party more than the democrats. Why should we worry.

A Democrat party strategist tells his ´astute´ readership how what he views as the political enemy is, of course, wounding itself. Query: does anybody anywhere really waste their time to read this propaganda........even in Washington D C ?

Leadership tried to sell us out and got stopped. The Dems could have supplied the needed votes and didn´t. I´m grateful. And in the meantime, Jeff Sessions prevented immigration funding from being passed in the Senate. I´d be happy if Congress does nothing before summer break and we can splain things to our representatives.

What a joke! Does Dan expect us to believe the garbage he´s writing? The vast majority of voters want the ILLEGALS sent home. So it´s hurting the Democrats, who are pushing for Amnesty for MILLIONS of Illegals, not Republicans who are fighting to get our Borders secured. All of the Polls show the DEMOCRATS losing ground, not Republicans. Nice try though!

Tom Delay would never have allowed the House of Representatives to make a mess like this. Above all else, he knew how to herd cats to the benefit of the US first! and the Republican party second.

He also would have stopped the ridiculous war against the Grassroots Conservatives waged by the Country Club Repubicans.

Cheney’s re-emergence complicates
Obama response to Islamic State

Former Vice President Dick Cheney’s re-emergence in Washington this week to talk about fighting terrorists in Iraq must have seemed like a bad nightmare for President Obama, who is trying to make a case to skittish voters that the U.S. can expand its military action in the Middle East without repeating the mistakes of his predecessor’s war on terror. For Mr. Obama and his allies on Capitol Hill, the specter of Mr. Cheney and his boss, President George W. Bush, continues to hang over them as they try to grapple with the ascendent insurgents of the Islamic State, also known

As we suspected, President Obama tried in his Wednesday-night speech to make it sound like he was doing something new when he, in fact, he is not. Moreover, in describing his response, he made plain that he doesn’t take the threat to the homeland seriously. For a threat his advisers say is greater than that posed by al-Qaeda after 2001, he proposed measures suitable for Yemen and Somalia. No, really — that’s the plan. For starters, the president doesn’t believe the Islamic State is a current threat to the U.S.: “So ISIL poses a threat to the people of Iraq

Nearly six years into a presidency devoted to ending U.S. wars in the Muslim world, President Obama faced the nation Wednesday night to explain why he has decided to engage in a new one. Obama did not describe his authorization of direct military action to defeat the Islamic State terror group as a conventional war. To the contrary, in a prime-time address from the White House, he sharply contrasted his use of targeted but limited American force with the large-scale air-and-ground invasions launched by his predecessor, George W. Bush. “This effort will be different from the wars in Iraq and

It’s long been said that the Oval Office changes its occupants in ways only those who have served in the small club of presidents can appreciate. Nowhere was that more apparent than Wednesday night when Barack Obama, the once youthful politician who just six years ago eschewed American interventionism across the globe, became the fourth graying-haired president in the last quarter century to ask the American people to support a decision for expanded military action in Iraq. Mr. Obama’s enemy was far different than the cruel dictator named Saddam Hussein pursued by his predecessors. The enemy this time is a

Obama Announces Additional Troops

By the time President Obama delivered his prime time speech this evening, he had already effectively softened the news of his decision to launch further military air strikes against Islamic State terrorists in both Iraq and Syria. Obama announced, however, that he would send 475 additional troops overseas, to help the fight against ISIS terrorists, repeating that his mission was to degrade and destroy them. But Obama cautiously asserted that any proposed actions “will not involve American combat troops fighting on foreign soil” -- which was a stronger position than his earlier promise to keep American boots off the ground.

President Obama announced an escalation of the war against Islamic State terrorists Wednesday night with plans to intensify airstrikes in Iraq, send more U.S. military advisers to Baghdad, provide arms to Syrian rebels and likely expand airstrikes into Syria. “If left unchecked, these terrorists could pose a growing threat beyond that region — including to the United States,” Mr. Obama said in a prime-time address from the White House. “We will conduct a systematic campaign of airstrikes against these terrorists.” The president ordered another 475 military advisers to Iraq, on top of 300 advisers he sent there in June and

We took out Osama bin Laden and much of al Qaeda’s leadership in Afghanistan and Pakistan. We’ve targeted al Qaeda’s affiliate in Yemen, and recently eliminated the top commander of its affiliate in Somalia. We’ve done so

Back in 2009 the Milwaukee District Attorney launched a far-reaching and secret investigation into a then soon-to-be elected Governor Scott Walker, his staff, and several Wisconsin conservative groups. The governor and his allies always maintained that the investigation was little else but a political jihad against them. Now a former Wisconsin prosecutor is saying that the union-allied wife of the District Attorney was really the main reason for the long, convoluted, and shady investigation. The case was never successfully defended as a legitimate probe into corruption, having always looked more like a political witch hunt. And now, a new report

Nine months after belittling the Islamic State as a “JV” terrorist group, President Obama will devote an urgent prime-time address Wednesday to his plan for defeating the suddenly resurgent militants, a strategy that will rely heavily on U.S. partnership with an untested Iraqi government and unproven Syrian rebels. In a speech from the White House at 9 p.m., Mr. Obama will tell Americans that the Islamic State is now a “high national security priority,” aides said.
