Census to give cheaters

New York Post, by John Crudele

The Labor Department is putting the screws to the folks who are cheating on the unemployment and inflation surveys. Sources tell me the Bureau of Labor Statistics is forcing the Census Bureau to change the way it fact-checks the surveys that produce some of the most important economic statistics compiled by the government. And that tells me the Labor Department must believe there are substantial irregularities in the numbers. I think it’s well past the time the Labor Department owns up to the fact that its surveys have been corrupted by manipulation. Now it needs to determine how far back this problem goes. Census produces

My standing for this post: I was a field rep for the Census Bureau from 2000 to 2008. I conducted the Current Population Survey every month and interviewed approx. 35 households and was asking for more work each month. I was personally always working to have over 93 to 95 percent or better cleared by the end of the survey period. There were a number of months I cleared 100 percent. It was hard, but I did it. Now for the math!

All the Census Bureau regions (12 at the time) would come in above 92 to 93 percent. I could believe that. What I could not believe was a region coming in at 97 to 98 percent. Where is that on the Bell Curve?

"Sources" in the administration say that they are actually going to attempt to verify the numbers input. As to when the cheating started, look back to when the Census was moved to the White House in 2009 prior to the 2010 census. Isn´t this the same administration that assigned to Sheriff Joe Biden the task of making sure the Stimulus funds were going to legitimate causes? I think we can expect the same results here. (As I recall there were hundreds of non-existent area codes)

We got one of the surveys a couple years ago. I could have filled in any old numbers and who would know the difference?
You can tell these reports are not totally accurate because investors regularly ´shrug off´´ unfavorable reports. Or as we saw on Wall Street today (Dow plummeted) they ´discount´ favorable numbers.

JAO but there is more massaging going on there than the parlor down the street filled with aging men and scantly clad masseuses WTP are aware that bow-boy and numbers have only met in passing. Yep when the WH cornered the census, the move was well planned. Seem to remember that the mayor of Chi-Land had first recommended that move. Wrong memory?

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A collection of outlaw country singer Waylon Jennings´ belongings will go on public auction this fall, including a rare 1958 motorcycle originally owned by Buddy Holly and locks of Willie Nelson´s braided hair. New York City-based auction house Guernsey´s will hold the auction of over 2,000 items Oct. 5 at the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix. Jennings´ widow, Jessi Colter, said she was first approached by the auction house about selling the motorcycle, a red Ariel Cyclone. Jennings, who died in 2002 at age 64, started his career playing in Holly´s band. He had been set to fly on

President Barack Obama has one person to blame for looking indecisive, dithering and cowed by bungled political calculations: Barack Obama. He’s the one, after all, who strode into the Rose Garden on June 30 to announce that America couldn’t wait forever on immigration reform and pledging to move forward with a set of executive actions “before the end of summer.” He’s the one who spent that afternoon lighting into Republicans in Congress for punting and punting and punting again. Now he’s the one punting. Obama, appearing on “Meet the Press,” attributed his decision to punt immigration reform action until after Election Day to

THE YES CAMPAIGN is ahead in the Scottish referendum battle for the first time, according to a poll, amid signs of infighting among senior figures backing the union. The YouGov research for the Sunday Times found 51% supported independence, compared to 49% who wanted to remain in the UK. The results are the latest evidence of a dramatic surge for the Yes Scotland campaign, which has seen the gap between the sides - once regularly in double digits - vanish in a matter of months. The YouGov poll showed the Yes vote increasing by four points, while No dropped by the same number. The

Mike, “beefcake” is indeed the mot juste to describe Victor Mature. After watching him and Hedy Lamarr in Samson and Delilah, Groucho Marx told Cecil B. DeMille that he had gotten the lead roles backwards, because “Victor Mature has much bigger knockers than Hedy Lamarr.” Lamarr was self-conscious about her modest endowment, and in the late 1930s she took her quest for enlargement to the polymathic George Antheil, a modernist composer who, when he wasn’t scoring compositions for aircraft engines, also wrote music for films and dabbled in many other areas, including endocrinology. He suggested hormone treatments, which did not help

Three CIA military contractors who were in the fight for their lives when our consulate in Benghazi was attacked on Sept. 11, 2012, gave a riveting first-hand account in a bombshell interview with Fox News anchor Bret Baier of what really happened that night. U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens and three other Americans — including Winchester native Glen Doherty — lost their lives in the brutal attack by Islamist terrorists who launched RPGs, mortars and heavy fire into both the consulate and nearby annex — for 13 hours — while the White House and State Department ignored their cries for

WASHINGTON — The agreement signed last year by the Norway Ministry of Foreign Affairs was explicit: For $5 million, Norway’s partner in Washington would push top officials at the White House, at the Treasury Department and in Congress to double spending on a United States foreign aid program. But the recipient of the cash was not one of the many Beltway lobbying firms that work every year on behalf of foreign governments. It was the Center for Global Development, a nonprofit research organization, or think tank, one of many such groups in Washington that lawmakers, government officials and the news media have

Federal officials are planning a new for-profit family detention lockup for immigrant children and their parents in South Texas. The 2,400-bed “South Texas Family Detention Center”—as Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is referring to it—is slated for a 50-acre site just outside the town of Dilley, 70 miles southwest of San Antonio. The detention center is part of the Obama administration’s response to the surge in children and families from Central America crossing the Texas-Mexico border. In a conversation some years ago, the Rev. Jesse Jackson was comparing different levels of commitment to civil rights. “Think of a ham-and-egg breakfast,” he said. “The pig makes a much bigger commitment than the chicken.” After I stopped laughing, I saw his point. And now President Obama has reminded me of it. It is too kind to give the president credit for even a shaky commitment to a stable world order. Through hesitancy, dithering and denial, he didn’t even bother to fiddle while Rome burned. He golfed and went to fund-raisers. Now that much of the whole planet is burning, the president

Who´s doing the kidnapping? Most of the Islamic terrorist groups. The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) recently brought attention to terrorist kidnappings with its gruesome beheading of American journalist James Foley. The terrorist group claimed the execution was in retaliation for U.S. airstrikes, but it also had demanded the huge sum of $132 million for Foley´s release. In recent months ISIS has secured millions of dollars for the release of other hostages — a tactic it adopted from al Qaida, from which it split in February. Al Qaida´s three main affiliates — al Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb, al

No one’s usually cared much who held secretary of state posts at the state level. Then the parties noticed that they have one major duty. With control of the Senate up for grabs and a Republican House looking to expand its majority in November, it would seem strange for DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz to spend even a minute thinking about usually sleepy down-ballot races like the open seat for Iowa’s Secretary of State. But at the Democratic National Committee summer meeting last month, Wasserman Schultz not only talked about that Iowa contest—she also promised to campaign for the Democrat in the

With 600 Muslims from the United Kingdom now making up over twenty-five percent of the foreign jihadists fighting for the Islamic State, and many vowing to return and wage jihad at home, it is not reckless to predict that Britain’s future is dark. For those 600 are just the tip of the iceberg of an untold number of jihad supporters and sympathizers in the country now. Indeed, there are twice as many British Muslims fighting for the Islamic State as there are in the British armed forces. And with unrestricted immigration policies, more are arriving all the time. Perry, a devout evangelical Christian, prayed for the health and safety of the Republicans in the room and their families. He prayed for American troops overseas. And he prayed for President Obama. The top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee on Friday said new allegations that U.S. commandos were ordered to “stand down” during the 2012 attack in Benghazi, Libya, aren’t supported by findings from House and Senate investigators. When the President and I took office in January of 2009, this nation was in the midst of the greatest economic crisis since the great depression.
