WASHINGTON — One week after falling to a 14-year low, the number of people who applied for U.S. unemployment benefits rose sharply last week but remained near a postrecession bottom. Initial jobless claims climbed by 23,000 to 302,000 in the seven days ended July 26, retracing the entire decline in prior week, according to Labor Department data . The level of claims was in line with Wall Street expectations.Claims had fallen in the previous reporting week to a revised 279,000 — the number was initially reported as 284,000 — to reach the lowest point since May 2000. How can anyone report these bogus numbers and call themselves journalists? This is not hard to figure out. There are way more unemployed folks than there were in 2000, but they are not counted because they gave up. When the bogus jobless numbers came in lower, those who had given up thought they might need to start looking again. That brought the jobless number back up a little, but it is still far lower than the actual number of unemployed.

CNN Pundit Paul Callahan points out the problems with Eric Holder rushing in his civil rights division to Ferguson, Missouri. (CNN) – If the United States Department of Justice has any real interest in obtaining justice in the tragic shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown, Attorney General Eric Holder’s announcement of a new civil rights investigation in Ferguson, Missouri, (population 21,000) was a step in the wrong direction. The department’s ham-handed effort to improve the political “optics” of active federal involvement may, ironically, create the reasonable doubt that will ultimately clear the shooter, Officer Darren Wilson. By now you’ve probably seen numerous professional leftists attempt to deflect the racial aspect of the assault away from the entire brutal campaign by saying there was a black Kroger employee also targeted. This black victim they claim proves there was no racial animus attached to the attack. However, what the media don’t tell you is in order to add a black victim to the crime, they are counting the black Kroger security guard as “a victim” of the mob. Against the backdrop of four arrests, the 25-year-old initial target has now talked to the media. (Snip) FOX6’s sister station,

BERLIN — Zalmay Khalilzad, a former United States ambassador to Afghanistan, Iraq and the United Nations, is under investigation by the Justice Department for possible tax evasion and money laundering, an Austrian magazine reported on Monday. The case, reported to involve the transfer of $1.4 million, apparently came to light after a blogger discovered documents from the Austrian state prosecutors’ office and a Vienna court in a garbage dump in Vienna between March and August. The blogger published several of the papers he found on his website recently.

A 10-nation group the Obama administration has gathered to fight ISIS could help, but more important will be the nations that surround the Islamist militant group´s self-declared "caliphate," experts say. After meetings at last week´s NATO Summit, U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel spoke of a newly formed "core coalition." President Barack Obama said it would take on ISIS. The nations are Australia, Britain, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Poland and Turkey, in addition to the United States.
