Obama Administration Suing Pa. State
Police Over Physical Fitness Tests

Daily Caller, by Chuck Ross

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 7/30/2014 9:44:58 PM

Saying that the physical fitness tests that the Pennsylvania state police uses to identify entry-level candidates are not job-related, the Department of Justice is suing the agency for sex discrimination since more men pass the tests than women. “Through the use of these physical fitness tests, Defendants have engaged in a pattern or practice of employment discrimination against women in [Pennsylvania State Police´s] selection process for entry-level trooper positions in violation of Title VII [of the Civil Rights Act of 1964],” reads the DOJ’s lawsuit. At issue are the state agency’s 2003 and 2009 physical fitness tests that are one

Comments:
All funding should be cut to the DOJ until they quit filing ridiculous, wasteful lawsuits like this. There are so many insane radicals in all the agencies I wonder if they can ever be fixed. It´s not that there are more important things that need the DOJ´s attention. s/o

I don´t know about you - - but when I yell for the police - - I want a 5´1", 118lb woman to show up.

There´s nothing more fearsome to a criminal than a little girl carrying handcuffs.

Accordingly, gang-bangers will surely modify their methods at gang-rape to accommodate less-vigorous police officers. That chase through back yards and over fences will take place at half the rate as before the new rules.
The world of the Ministry of Social Justice: depending upon kinder, gentler criminals.

And exactly who pays the price when a 4´10" 100 lb. female cadet fails to take down a suspected rapist/murderer who is 6´6" and 300 lbs??

What male cadet would want that 4´10" 100 lb. woman, who couldn´t pass the physical fitness test, watching his back on patrol, facing a couple of gang members with guns?

This is stupid beyond words. Take some time to build your muscles, pass the physical test, or choose to be a civilian employee at a desk, not endangering sworn officers.

PA State Troopers tend to be pretty big, strong guys. If there are more smaller weaker women, will we see more shootings or tasings to subdue suspects who resist arrest? It is not safe for a smaller weaker officer to pull over a vehicle in the middle of the night when no one else is around. The PA Troopers´ jobs just got a little bit more dangerous.

The governor of Pennsylvania should announce an immediate press conference saying that they intend to ignore the DOJ action, nor will they spend any resources defending a frivolous lawsuit, nor will they even show up in court, nor do they acknowledge any federal role in how they manage their police forces.

It used to be that private citizens who were impacted by or discriminated against by state/city actions would sue.
Now we have litigation-happy DOJ keeping a watchful eye to find opportunities to sue for anything.
Obama´s DOJ has sued Arizona, New York City, CT, GA, PA, NJ, CA --and those are just the ones I remember.
I think it is time to sue DOJ into oblivion for all of their lawlessness and failure to enforce laws they don´t like

First I disagree with this lawsuit completely. Secondly I have worked with many women police officers who were just as competent as their male counterparts if not more competent in all respects. it is not about an officers size or strength. Success is based on that officers training and how to apply what the officer was taught coupled with street smarts. I remember very clearly the day the first women police officer was shot and killed in the line of duty in America. The officer chased an armed robber into a parking garage in WA DC. the suspect shot her dead when she tried to arrest him without drawing her sidearm. Being stupid will always get an officer Killed male or female
I have made numerous high hazard arrests along with female officers , never once have questioned their competence or their actions.
Many men &women will become police officers for the wrong reason and when the going gets tough they fail and will take up another line of work
The badge is a sword with which an officer upholds the law, it is not a shield to hide behind when the going gets tough. Those that do not subscribe to that mentality fall by the wayside
