Why John Kerry´s Great Expectations
Won´t Be Met By India

NDTV [New Delhi, India], by Siddharth Varadarajan

The catechism of an "indispensable partnership" with India that U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry repeated during the course of a rambling 5000-word speech on Tuesday cannot cover up the loss of faith that has crept into the relationship between the two countries. Kerry was speaking at the Center for American Progress in Washington, D.C. hours before his departure for New Delhi as the head of the U.S. delegation in its fifth annual Strategic Dialogue with India. Even without the added obstacle of having to reach out to an Indian leader that it had visibly snubbed for nearly a decade,

Like "Pigpen" a character in the Peanuts cartoons who travels around in a cloud of debris, the BO/Kerry regime has spread chaos and confusion across the planet; everything´s a mess, as Albright put if the other day.

Nobody sees us as trustworthy, dependable. And our enemies laugh the USA to scorn.

We have witnessed the implosion of American diplomacy when Kerry was "wand searched" in the Egyptian presidential offices. The disrespect was paramount. Now, no head of state wants to be associated with the Kerry/Øbama bunglers. They had shown they can not keep secrets and they are overly quick (stupid) about revealing made up facts about discussion. Such idiocy can actually cost lives and delicate careers in these very busy, dynamic rising third world nations. Kerry´s bungly bumbling of the Israeli/Egyptian/Gaza (Hamas) discussions was absolutely beyond the pale.

What this article does not dwell on at any length and what could be a decisive factor influencing all others is the fact that unlike his predecessor, who was professorial, meek and accomodative by nature, Narendra Modi is a no nonsense customer and suffers fools very badly. In that he is a lot like Netanyahu and rumors are the two are already getting along famously.

The Shield has become a sham. America´s game has become America´s embarrassment. (Snip) Roger Goodell needs to be gone, cut as quickly and coldly as one of his players, waived, whacked, dumped, bring in your playbook, clean out your locker, now. For three days, the NFL commissioner has claimed he issued a stunningly light two-game suspension of the Baltimore Ravens´ Ray Rice, accused of domestic violence, without anyone in his office ever seeing the infamous videotape of Rice knocking out his then-fiancee Janay Palmer. It now appears that beyond being clueless, he may also have been lying. There now exists evidence his office

A former director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Robert Mueller III, will lead a probe into the National Football League´s handling of former Baltimore Ravens player Ray Rice´s domestic violence case, the league said on Wednesday. The announcement comes within hours of a report by the Associated Press that a law enforcement official sent a video to the league in April that showed Rice knocking out his then-fiancee in an elevator. The official wanted the NFL to have the video before deciding how to punish Rice, the agency said, adding that the official spoke on condition of anonymity.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has insisted since Monday that the league did everything in its power to obtain the Ray Rice video before TMZ released it. However, a possible bombshell from the Associated Press suggests that the league may have had access to the video five months ago. According to the AP, a law enforcement official sent a copy of the Ray Rice tape to an NFL executive in April. It´s not clear at this time who at the league office actually saw the video, but someone definitely saw it. The AP was given access to a 12-second voicemail from

Maywood´s fire chief said the controversy over his order to have all patriotic and personal stickers removed from firefighters´ helmets and lockers — including American flags and 9\11 memorials — was blown out of proportion. Chief Craig Bronaugh Jr. said Wednesday that four firefighters who were sent home for defying the order may return to work.“After review, I made a decision to put a department-issued flag on every locker,” Bronaugh said at a news conference outside department headquarters. “I want everyone to be clear: There was never an issue of disposing of the flag.” The four firefighters were relieved of

Yesterday we noted that CNN had buried their poll reflecting vast unfavorable public opinion of President Obama. Indeed, even though the poll was taken by CNN/ORC they didn’t even provide the raw poll data that’s customarily available. Instead they couched their perspective on the information inside an article discussing Syria and ISIS: [...] Obama’s upcoming speech comes as two Americans were murdered and grisly images and stories of the terrorist group needlessly killing enemies have emerged from Iraq and Syria. So far, Americans are not happy with how Obama has addressed the ISIS situation. The CNN/ORC poll shows that only

The St. Louis County prosecutor’s office is taking an unusual approach with grand jury members who are weighing evidence against the police officer who shot and killed 18-year-old Michael Brown last month, experts and county officials said. Instead of telling grand jury members what charges they believe police officer Darren Wilson should face, they are leaving it open-ended for now and involving the grand jury as co-investigators. The prosecutor’s office is also presenting evidence to the grand jury as soon as it receives it, rather than waiting until the St. Louis County Police Department and the FBI have completed their investigations.

Rice, a three-time Pro Bowler and who helped Baltimore to a Super Bowl title in the 2012 season, was charged with third-degree aggravated assault following a Feb. 15 incident at a casino in Atlantic City, N.J., in which he alleged knocked out his then fiancé and now wife, Janay Palmer (now Janay Rice).Initially, Rice and Palmer both were charged with simple assault. The Atlantic County prosecutor´s office later dropped the charge against her.

Washington said on Sunday it had carried out air strikes against jihadists in Iraq´s Sunni Arab heartland, expanding its month-long air campaign and its involvement in the conflict. It was a significant escalation for President Barack Obama, who made his political career opposing the war in Iraq and pulled out US troops in 2011. Previous strikes since Obama launched the US air campaign on August 8 had been mainly in support of Kurdish forces in the north. US warplanes bombed Islamic State (IS) jihadists around a strategic dam on the Euphrates River in an area that the jihadists have repeatedly tried to capture

Free money for everyone! With weak job growth, rising poverty, and the rich continuing to devour nearly all economic growth, it´s an idea that is gaining more credence. Arguments for a universal basic income (UBI) — in which everyone without exception would receive an equal stipend — have flourished in policy-centric areas of the internet, including The Week. Advocates of UBI see it as a blunter, more effective means of reducing poverty and shrinking the inequality gap. But even if UBI proponents are right on the merits, Tyler Cowen argues that the politics of the issue are not favorable. Under
