Hillary Clinton on Redskins
Name: ‘It’s Insensitive’

LANHAM, Md. - Potential 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton says the Washington Redskins name is “insensitive,” becoming the latest politician to publicly call for the team to change its name. “I think it’s insensitive and I think there’s no reason for it to continue as the name of a team in our nation’s capital,” the former Secretary of State said in an interview with Fusion TV. “I would love to see the owners think hard about what they could substitute.” Asked if she had any suggestions for a new team name should Redskins owner Daniel Snyder ever decide to change

The real answer to the problem of the Redskins is to move the team to Oklahoma City. That would have several salubrious effects;
1. The entire state of Oklahoma would instantly fall in love with them. They would provide a huge fan base, including several Indian tribes in the area. Oklahoma means "Land of the Red Skinned People," after all.
2. It would get the team away from all those Washington D.C. Ingrates, especially Congress who don´t seem to have anything more important to do.
3. People would shut up about the Redskins name.
4. It would put them very close to their division rivals, the Dallas Cowboys, creating an intense regional buzz. Screw DC! They don´t deserve a team as classy as the Redskins. Problem solved.

One would think the word ´minority´ would be banned as being offensive to - well - minorities, but they seem to be fine with it. Why is the word minority not seen as defining a certain race of people as a lesser group than say - whites?

I wonder if anyone has considered why the team was named the Redskins? Football being a rough and tumble game It seems to me that the power puffs would not be appropriate. So perhaps the name came because they thought that the term meant a tough people. Sort of an honor, huh?

Their beef: the fossil fuels industry and other companies are profiting at the expense of the environment. President Barack Obama, stumping for the Democrats ahead of November´s congressional elections, has twice invoked Ronald Reagan´s seminal campaign question: "Are you better off than you were four years ago?" Framing the debate like that helped Reagan twice - in 1980 when he beat incumbent Jimmy Carter, and then again in 1984 when he won re-election during an economic upswing. But a similar message has failed to resonate for Obama primarily for one reason: while he stresses the economy has improved in almost every aspect on his watch, average family incomes have slipped.
