A woman has been quarantined at a hospital in Hong Kong after falling ill with Ebola-like symptoms when she returned from a trip to Africa. The patient, who is said to be exhibiting symptoms similar to the deadly virus, is undergoing tests to verify the cause of her illness, local media reported. It comes as Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond today declared the disease a ´very serious threat´ to Britain as he prepares to chair an emergency meeting on how to bolster the country´s defences against the vicious virus. British airlines are on alert for cases of the deadly virus, after tests revealed a

Stop eating bush meat; chimp and other primate meat along with other native animals that are often carriers of the virus.

#1, easier still, go back to the original definition of "quarantine":

a period, originally 40 days, of detention or isolation imposed upon ships, persons, animals, or plants on arrival at a port or place, when suspected of carrying some infectious or contagious disease.

But oh no! Somebody will be offended.

We could slowly watch ebola spread to America once it hits any major city, especially Hong Kong, which seems to have a wormhole to NYC via Toronto for illegals. The sick will be rounded up and their carcasses burned. The toll will threaten civilization like nothing before. A drastic action needs to be taken asap. I´d hate to be on a plane that gets quarantined.

If this horrific disease was ever found in this country it would be the perfect vehicle to allow Obama to exert his control over us like never before. It would be every malevolent dictator´s dream come true. It would be a living nightmare and to even contemplate what orders would come out of that White House scares the daylights out of me. Of course the legality of any of his orders would never be contemplated. I know, call me a tin foil hat nut case, but we have seen what Obama is capable of. And we have seen the weakness of those who are to push back and protect and defend us.

"Don´t let a crisis go to waste." This will become another damned crisis for everyone to run around like a headless chicken! This disease is a caused by contact with infected blood and bodily fluids (or infected fruit bats). This ain´t the disease that´ll wipe us out. Calm down everyone and don´t let the media panic us.

A little too hysterical for me. They repeat all that´s been reported then they get to this ........

A woman quarantined at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Hong Kong has tested negative for the disease, despite returning from a trip to Kenya with Ebola-like symptoms.

Meanwhile two suspected patients in the UK have also tested negative.

I´d appreciate some reporting without the hysteria.

It´s called quarantine for a reason. You blockade the affected area and you don´t let anyone leave until the danger is past. You let in only people who acknowledge the danger and do not plan to return until the danger is past. You identify the vectors of infection and work to reduce their numbers and/or mobility.

If its rats, you exterminate rats. if mosquitoes, get some DDT, Fruit bats? Well, maybe their numbers need thinned, or severe restrictions on making them bush meat put in place. Fruit bats be bad Juju, for the uneducated.

You also execute anyone who tries to ignore the quarantine and attempts to leave the area. Publicly burn the bodies. Disease can´t travel without a mobile vector.

Ebola outbreak: UK urges decisive

The UK has called for urgent decisive action from the international community to deal with the growing Ebola epidemic in West Africa. Speaking at a conference in London co-hosted with Sierra Leone, UK Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond called for more financial aid, doctors and nurses. British nurse William Pooley, who contracted Ebola in Sierra Leone, made an emotional appeal for more action. Leading charity Save the Children earlier warned that Ebola was spreading at a "terrifying rate", with the number of new recorded cases doubling every few weeks. It said that a rate of five new Ebola cases an hour

A doctor checked in at Atlanta airport in protective goggles, gloves, boots and overalls in a bitter protest at the CDC for ´sugar-coating´ the true scale of Ebola in the US. Gil Mobley said he was left horrified yesterday when he was allowed to fly from Guatemala to Atlanta with no interrogation or checks on his equipment. Enraged, the microbiologist and emergency trauma physician boarded his next flight from Atlanta International Airport - minutes from the center´s headquarters - wearing a protective white jumpsuit branded with the words ´CDC is lying!´ It comes two days after a man in Texas

While it may reject Israel’s existence, Hamas certainly agrees with Prime MInister Binyamin Netanyahu--and disagrees with the US State Department--that its “ultimate goal” is to establish an “Islamic state” (caliphate) over what it sees as the “occupied lands of Palestine.” In short, while the US disputes PM Netanyahu’s statement that “Hamas is ISIS, and ISIS is Hamas”--Hamas itself does not. China Weekly reported that, on Tuesday, senior Hamas leader Mahmoud al-Zahar said in a ceremony to honor police officers killed in the latest Gaza operation that "we don´t want to establish an Islamic emirate in Gaza; we want an Islamic state in

It appears an act of compassion led Thomas Eric Duncan to contract Ebola, and become the first patient diagnosed with the deadly disease on U.S. soil. Just four days before he boarded a plane bound for Dallas, Texas, Duncan helped carry his landlord´s convulsing pregnant daughter to a Liberian clinic to be treated for Ebola, the New York Times reports. The woman, named by The Times as 19-year-old Marthalene Williams died the next day, after being turned away from the overcrowded hospital that didn´t have room for her. What do you suppose is the biggest item in the budget of a working household? The mortgage? The car? The utility bills? Nope. Far greater than any of these--greater, indeed, than all of them combined--is the tax bill. Because taxation is generally deducted at source, we often fail to realise how much we’re paying. For most people, the only time when they must, so to speak, write a cheque to the taxman is when they pay council tax--which duly elicits disproportionate resentment. Consider the figures above. The United States on Wednesday authorized a $1.75 billion arms deal for Saudi Arabia. The deal will allow the Saudis to upgrade their stock of Patriot air defense missiles, replacing them with PAC-3 missiles. The missiles will be supplied by Lockheed Martin and Raytheon, the State Department said. Congress has 30 days to block the sale, but a State Department spokesperson said that this was unlikely. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency, which is in charge of foreign weapons sales, said the deal would help the Saudis to better defend themselves, replacing earlier-stage Patriots which are now obsolete and suffer from

Uncharacteristically, I´m almost lost for words--or at least for critical words. David Cameron said pretty much everything I wanted him to say in his belter of a conference speech. [Snip] What this amounted to in effect was a picture of a social morality based on rewards for hard work, personal responsibility, pride in your achievements, and true fairness (which is to say, getting "something for something" rather than something for nothing). And, most important, the idea that permitting people to live in permanent dependency was not just a waste of money, but a waste of life.

Pentagon officials are finding it difficult determining how effective US airstrikes against ISIS in Iraq and Syria are because of ´significant gaps in intelligence´. Senior current and former US officials have told the Associated Press that American aircraft are running under less restrictive rules than those governing drone strikes in Pakistan and Yemen. Despite this, they are having difficulties determining the effectiveness of the bombing missions targeting Al-Qaeda and ISIS due the lack of intelligence assets on the ground. These assets identify targets before an airstrike and conduct an after action battle damage assessment.

President Obama this week committed professional suicide. Let me explain. There is a theory in politics that once a leader has fired 50 or more people from his or her administration, he or she is finished. The reason being that by creating so many enemies ‘outside the tent’, the tent itself becomes too deluged with poisonous bile to avoid sinking into a quagmire of back-stabbing ignominy.
