Mike Huckabee Fans Revolt After
He Endorses Lamar Alexander

Breitbart´s Big Government, by Tony Lee

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee angered his Facebook fans after endorsing Sen. Lamar Alexander against conservative state Representative Joe Carr last month. Carr has been endorsed by former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and conservative talk radio host Laura Ingraham for the August 7th primary. And Carr has been relentlessly hammering Alexander for voting for the Senate´s amnesty bill even after law enforcement officials warned Alexander that it would lure more illegal immigrants from Central America. Nearly every one of close to 450 comments beneath Huckabee´s announcement on his Facebook page blasts Huckabee for supporting Alexander. One Huckabee fan said, "We

Those negative comments have to sting. He´s an odd duck in that he appears to be conservative on some issues and then supports the establishment Republicans. He did great work on that Justina Pelletier case, but Megyn Kelly was the one who originally reported that outrageous story. I wonder how she felt about him completely taking it over.

Huckabee is a big-government, "compassionate conservative" type establishment Republican. He is pleasant and has a good humor, but he is too much a go-along-to-get-along kind of guy except on a few issues. I want more of a draw-a-line-in-the-sand and stand-and-fight kind of person, but one with a sense of humor.

Huckabee did the faith community a favor by no longer being a preacher. He did the people of Arkansas a favor by no longer being their governor. And hopefully now, with his acquired millions of dollars and fancy home, he gets the message and does the country a favor by never being a candidate again. He´s all glitz and no guts.

In early June 1964, a group of Republican governors sought to wrestle control of their party from Barry Goldwater, the Arizona conservative who was about to lead the GOP to one of the most crushing defeats in its history. The governors saw a disaster in the making, and sought a moderate candidate who could capture the imaginations of grassroots Republicans—but also beat President Lyndon Johnson in the general election. Led by Ohio’s James Rhodes—the Republican Governors Association was meeting in Cleveland, and Rhodes was a legendary vote counter—the group included Pennsylvania’s William Scranton and later New York’s Nelson Rockefeller.
