Netanyahu: Prepare for Long Campaign
Arutz Sheva [Israel], by Gil Ronen

Original Article

Posted By:mitzi, 7/28/2014 2:13:57 PM

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu addressed Israeli citizens on live television Monday evening after Hamas fired a mortar shell that killed four people in southern Israel. "We knew that we would have difficult days,” he said. “This is a hard and painful day.” "Patience and determination are required in order to fight a terror organization that seeks to destroy us,” the prime minister added. “We will not complete the operation without neutralizing the tunnels whose only purpose is to annihilate our children and our civilians. "The action against the tunnels is the first step in demilitarizing Gaza,” Netanyahu declared.

Comments:
I would imagine that all the concrete, construction and electrical equipment/supplies intended for homes went directly into Hamas tunnels.

Bibi and Sisi should negotiate a deal to return control of Gaza to Israel. That is the only long term solution here. There must be a way to make this worth Egypt´s while.

I just saw pics on Twitter of UNRWA relief supplies found in Hamas´ tunnels. According to their website for Gaza services ... Construct desperately needed infrastructure, including schools and shelters

That´s probably why some of the tunnels in Gaza begin at schools. I guess tunnel digging is on the curriculum as a physical activity. Plastering is a shop class. /s

It is one of the most bizarre things we’ve ever seen. One minute the President of America goes on national television to announce that he has ordered our military to “degrade and ultimately destroy” the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. The next moment his state secretary goes on Cable News Network to make a declaration that CNN reported under the headline: “Kerry: U.S. not at war with ISIS.” It seems Mr. Kerry wants to draw a distinction between, on the one hand, a counter-terrorism operation, which is how he describes that in which are involved, and, on the

Star NFL running back Adrian Peterson has been deactivated for Sunday’s game by the Minnesota Vikings amid allegations he viciously beat his 4-year-old son with a switch twice last May. The eight-year veteran of the Minnesota Vikings bragged about the abuse, (snip) The bruised boy allegedly told cops, “Daddy Peterson hit me on my face.” The shaken boy also said he was scared that Peterson would punch him in the face if he spoke to authorities. Cops said the boy told them he had been hit with a belt and that “there are a lot of belts in Daddy’s closet.”

If you´re looking for a heartwarming advertisement about 9/11, look no further than this throwback ad from Budweiser in 2002. The ad shows several Clydesdale horses crossing the Brooklyn Bridge and other scenes before the horses kneel down before a scene of New York City. The ad was only shown once during the 2002 Super Bowl, but boy did it make an impact. Here´s a little more background on the ad from the St. Louis-based company AB Global Creative: “We filmed in New York City. We had a helicopter going over the Brooklyn Bridge. What We’re Afraid to Say About Ebola

MINNEAPOLIS — THE Ebola epidemic in West Africa has the potential to alter history as much as any plague has ever done. There have been more than 4,300 cases and 2,300 deaths over the past six months. Last week, the World Health Organization warned that, by early October, there may be thousands of new cases per week in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea and Nigeria. What is not getting said publicly, despite briefings and discussions in the inner circles of the world’s public health agencies, is that we are in totally uncharted waters and that Mother Nature is the only force

To understand why the Islamic State not only decapitates its “infidel” captives, but also mutilates and mocks their corpses—and all to sadistic laughter—one need only turn to the Koran and deeds of Islamic prophet Muhammad. The Koran exhorts believers to “Fight them [those who oppose Islam], Allah will torment them with your hands, humiliate them, empower you over them, and heal the hearts of the believers, removing the rage from their hearts” (Koran 9:14-15). As usual, to understand the significance of any Koran verse, one must turn to the sira andhadith—the biography and anecdotes of Muhammad, respectively—for context. Thus we

Two men got married in New Zealand this morning and people aren´t happy about it. Heterosexuals Travis McIntosh and Matt McCormick tied the knot on Friday morning as part of a radio competition to win tickets to the Rugby World Cup. The "best mates" got hitched at Eden Park stadium in Auckland before a crowd of 60 family members and friends, with tens of thousands listening live. But the stunt has prompted a rare union between gay rights groups and social conservatives, who have both condemned the sham marriage - for very different reasons. Qua speech, Barack Obama’s address Wednesday on the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria was surprisingly terrible: a disorganized mess, insincere and unconvincing. To appreciate just how bad and bizarre it was, compare the president’s speech announcing a new air campaign in Iraq and Syria to Dwight Eisenhower’s 1958 statement on his decision to intervene in Lebanon with 14,000—14,000!—troops. The statement contains no chest-thumping about America’s leadership in science and medicine. No pivot to the auto industry and medical research. Eisenhower simply explained what had been done, and why.

Berlin - President Obama´s declaration of war against the terrorist group known as the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria marks a decisive break in the American constitutional tradition. Mr. Bush gained explicit congressional consent for his invasions (Snip) Mr. Obama may rightly be frustrated by gridlock in Washington, but his assault on the rule of law is a devastating setback for our constitutional order. Rarely has a president faced a greater challenge in establishing his credibility for a new foreign-policy move than Barack Obama did in his nationally televised speech tonight. A CNN poll earlier this week found that just 30 percent of voters thought Obama had presented a clear plan for fighting the Islamic State. While Obama now pledges to ask Congress to train and aid Syrian rebels who would fight the group, voters remember that he backed similar plans in Syria in 2013, when his advisers saw Syrian president Bashar Assad as the major threat. President Obama just announced that he is bringing a counter-terrorism strategy to an insurgency fight. He was at pains to repeat the phrase “counter-terror” four times in a short speech. Noting that ISIL is not a state (partly because the international community thankfully does not recognize it), he declared, “ISIL is a terrorist organization, pure and simple. And it has no vision other than the slaughter of all who stand in its way.” Neither of those sentences, unfortunately, is true. ISIL is an insurgent group that controls enormous territory in Iraq and Syria that it governs. It maneuvers conventional light

Throughout his presidency, President Obama has emphasized one point while talking about Islamist extremists: They are not practicing Islam, he has said, they are perverting it. He took that a step further Wednesday night. While announcing that he´s expanding the campaign against the Islamic State extremist group into Syria, Obama said flatly that this group, which is trying to install a caliphate in the Middle East, "is not Islamic." He didn´t say they are perverting their religion; he said they´re not even part of that religion. SAN DIEGO — African-American elementary students in California were chronically truant at nearly four times the rate of all students during the last school year, according to a state report released Friday. The report by the California Attorney General´s office is the first time the data has been broken down according to race and income levels. Officials say such data is needed to address the problem. Poverty and suspensions are contributing factors. Overall, more than 250,000 elementary school students missed 10 percent or more of the 2013-2014 school year or roughly 18 or more school days.
