Poor families use ´supervouchers´
to rent in city´s priciest buildings

Crain´s Chicago Business, by Alby Gallun

Original Article

The high-rise at 500 N. Lake Shore Drive is the second-most expensive in the city, with rents for a one-bedroom apartment approaching $3,000 a month, well beyond the reach of most Chicago residents. But that´s not too much for the Chicago Housing Authority, which has used federal tax dollars to pick up most of the tab for four lucky residents in the year-old building, with its sweeping views of Lake Michigan, a concierge and a dog-grooming center. The tenants moved in over the past two years as part of a push by the CHA to expand its housing voucher program

If you´d like to live across Lake Shore Drive from Navy Pier but don´t have a CHA voucher, you´ll have to pay $3,195 for a one bedroom unit, $2,785 for a studio.

All this has been provided by taxes from the middle class. This is crazy.

Last month the House passed a bill sponsored by U.S. Rep. Aaron Schock to curb the payments .
" The Peoria Republican .... says he is seeking an investigation by the inspector general
of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, which pays for the voucher program and sets many of its rules."
And there it will end , even if an Inspector General finds civil and criminal malfeasance.
Because Eric Holder gets to decide if anyone should be prosecuted.

If I read this correctly, these rents are paid for by Federal tax dollars. That means all of us who work are paying for this. There are many low rent apartments in Chicago in outlying but fairly safe areas. Rents in the downtown and near north area, however, have skyrocketed because of increased demand. Why move charity cases in to building where the apts. could easily be rented to a full-paying tenant? Why not find apartments in buildings that need tenants?

They can give this family a FEMA trailer for about $300/month.
This is beyond absurd.

This is Obama´s dream and he´s behind it. He wants the illegals, et.al. to live in luxury the way the rich live. He wants to make "it fair". What baloney! This is the ruination of our country. Take from the middle class and give it to those who haven´t earned their way. Will it never end?

Some rich dimocrat donor had a few vacant units and they were able to fill them for him. And you wonder why there are so many rich dimocrats? They get rich off your tax dollars.

It´s a plan to drive the wealth and middle class out of the cities. They will ruin these buildings one by one until it´s detroit. That´s the way you fundamentally f up a nation.

This is happening everywhere. In North Raleigh, there is a chi chi neighborhood with two very swanky apartment complexes. Half!! of the apartments are low income subsidized renters. So a big screw you to "rich" people who want to try to live in a nice, crime free area. Obama and Valerie Jarrett will force you to live in diversity....and you get to pay for it.

And why exactly can´t these people work and earn money to pay their own rent for these fancy apartments if they want to live there so badly? Taxpayers have to pay for them, why? Another reason to totally abolish the welfare departments and payments across the nation.

The audacity of it all.

The thinking comes from the top; still looking for reparations.

Imagine how many hard working people all across the country that could use just a little help keeping their homes after losing income.

How many super vouchers will go to Rahm´s newest residents ?

Hillary Clinton has revealed that she worked through her husband’s affair whilst he was President by making him go through an agonising ´truth and reconciliation´ process. The former US Secretary of State said that she forced Bill Clinton into South Africa-style hearings where he had to be completely honest before she forgave him. She said she was inspired by the country´s former leader Nelson Mandela and that she had to act otherwise she would remain in a mental ´prison´ for the rest of her life. Mrs Clinton, 66, has rarely spoken about her husband’s infidelity with White House intern Monica

President Obama in his ISIS speech did his best to convince the American people that things are under control, that he will pursue a coalition with other nations to degrade and ultimately destroy ISIS and that he will do it only through air strikes. (Snip) When Obama declared he had no strategy yet on ISIS a few weeks ago he was perceived as a weak and indecisive leader, but is that all the reason for his reluctance to fight ISIS? Or are there other, hidden reasons why Obama does not want to destroy ISIS? Reluctance and refusal to go to war,

Even someone as savvy about everything as Michelle Obama sometimes flubs an outfit — or to put it more politely, wears something that doesn’t enhance her natural attractions. Which is not to say that’s all that matters about the first lady, who’s been busy with a variety of public events this week: registering voters in Georgia, cutting the ribbon on the renovated White House Visitors Center, commemorating the 9/11 terrorist attacks, even appearing in a videotaped shout-out to Prince Harry. Take a look at what she wore for all that. A little too full for her figure? (Photographs).. A flattering

A high school football booster club in Ventura was prohibited from selling Chick-fil-A sandwiches at its back-to-school night event because the principal didn’t like the restaurant owner’s position on gay marriage, according to CBS Los Angeles. Val Wyatt, principal of Ventura High School, was quoted in the Ventura County Star as stating, “With their political stance on gay rights and because the students of Ventura High School and their parents would be at the event, I didn’t want them on campus.” The principal was echoed by Ventura Unified School District Superintendent Trudy Tuttle Arriaga, who said, “We value inclusivity and diversity

The U.S. government Friday defended its handling of James Foley´s case after the slain journalist´s mother told CNN that officials suggested the family could be charged if they tried to raise money to free him. Saying everything possible had been done to bring the journalist home, State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf told reporters officials worked very closely with Foley´s family and with his employer, GlobalPost CEO Philip Balboni. This week, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) slandered a group of Middle Eastern Christians who were trying to raise awareness of their struggle to avoid a genocide in the Middle East. His cynical grandstanding was rightly condemned — but he was hardly alone. Cruz agreed to speak to this group, which included bishops of the Catholic and Orthodox Churches, ostensibly out of solidarity, but took the occasion to antagonize them over their insufficient praise for Israel, then smeared them as anti-Semites before dropping the mic. The Washington Free Beacon publicized this flameout — their publisher said the room

He will be back on October 9 for a fundraiser hosted by Gwyneth Paltrow at her home in Los Angeles, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The evening will include a reception and the opportunity to ask questions ´at an intimate dinner,´ per an email from a Hollywood fundraiser.Tickets for the Democratic National Committee event will start at $1,000 per person for the reception. Voter turnout during last month´s primary races was a little too good in some counties, Arizona elections officials said Friday. Some precincts in northern Arizona tallied more ballots cast than there are registered voters, the Arizona Capitol Times reported. According to officials, errors made by poll workers and elections officials in Apache and Navajo counties led to the miscalculations. Initial reports from some precincts showed a turnout of anywhere from 200 to 400 percent. In Apache County, the Puerco West precinct reportedly had 100 votes cast, but only 23 voters are registered there. The voter turnout added up to 434

Let’s start with the end. When it’s over — when you make it through the marathon that is Ken Burns’s beautiful, seven-part documentary “The Roosevelts: An Intimate History,” which begins Sunday night on PBS — you may find yourself with a lingering, nebulous grief. You’re sorry it’s over. You’re sorry they’re over. You’re sorry a certain expression of American ideals is, or often appears to be, completely over. My study habits haven’t improved since college; like an idiot, I put off watching all 14 hours of “The Roosevelts” until I absolutely had to watch them on a deadline binge this week.

President Obama said there is a “silver lining” in the fight against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, arguing that Middle Eastern nations could use the opportunity to build a lasting anti-terror coalition. "We´re going to be able to build the kind of coalition that allows us to lead but also isn´t entirely dependent on what we do," Obama told a group of Democratic donors at a fundraiser in Baltimore. Arab nations needed to "snuff out" that type of "Islamic extremism," he added. The president said he was confident that the U.S. would be able to put together an international coalition
