Aflame
The New Yorker, by David Remnick

Original Article

Because memory, particularly historical memory, fails unfailingly, this summer feels like a uniquely horrific season of dissolution and blood. “You name it, the world is aflame,” Gary Samore, a former national-security aide in the Obama Administration, told Peter Baker, of the Times, the other day. “We always have a mix of complicated interests. That’s not unusual. What’s unusual is there’s this outbreak of violence and instability everywhere.” The supposed tranquillity of earlier seasons is almost always an artifact of distance. And yet Samore’s “everywhere” is forgivable hyperbole. In eastern Ukraine, where hundreds of corpses, and a dozen or so planes, lay

The one state solution is to borrow an "Obama-Mexican plan" is to fly all Palestinians to Jordan and make Israel whole.

Yet none of this is Obama´s fault and Israel carries most of Remnick´s blame.

Of course he failed to mention the hundreds of tunnels into Israel, the rockets stored in schools, Hamas ordering civilians to stay put when Israel provided advance warning of attacks.

Oh, and last but not least, Hamas goal of eliminating Israel and exterminating the Jewish people.

What a bunch of nice guys.

Like most of the LSM main papers, and most of it´s offshoots like the New Yorker - this article reeks of mindless hatred for the Jews, especially focused on Israeli Jews.

Any country bombarded by rockets has not only the right, but the obligation to its citizens, to do literally anything to stop the onslaught.

An important consideration that nations in the region, especially Iran, should take into account is that Israel has nuclear capability. Does any sane person expect them to meekly allow their nation to be annihilated and take no preemptive action?

After the true horror of the Nazi death camps became known, the then rational world said, "Never again!"

Much of the nominally free world now regards that phrase as as a quaint saying with the moral power of "Santa Clause is keeping a list, you had better be nice."

I suspect Israel still means it.

Somewhat off theme, but why is it that so much of the world hates Jews? I´m 69yrs old and have never been able to understand that. The only thing I can think of is that the Hebrews (Jews) were GOD´s chosen people. Other than that, I´m at a loss.

As for so much of the world being aflame, doesn´t Remnick know any history? The entire middle east has been a powder keg with a wet fuse smoldering for decades and now it´s beginning to blow. And all of this has been foretold for a very long time. All we peons can do is just wait it out. There will come a day when the whole thing will be sorted by the GREAT REDEEMER. I pray for HIS coming.

Remnick left out Libya, another Obama fiasco. Obama has weakened our allies and strengthened our enemies because, like all American liberals, he thought the problem was that our enemies were like that because we were mean to them. International affairs abhors a vacuum and when the U.S. is weak, the dirtiest street fighters take our place.

Of course Remnick doesn´t breath a word about the fact that in the Hamas charter they want to destroy Israel. Hamas will never completely honor a "peace agreement" because their ultimate goal is to destroy Israel and eliminate Jews from the face of the earth. The same could be said about all the rest of the insane radical Islamists all over the world.

I hope all of those so called democracies are happy that they allowed Muslin immigration, especially France and the UK. Further, what is going on now is a rendition of what went on in the 60´s. Now we all are paying for that era. What Muslims are doing today is a recap of what the anti war creeps were doing then.

Obama is a child of the 60´s and a Muslim. Why are we allowing these people to immigrate. They always cause trouble wherever they settle. A new law should be put in place... if you immigrate and are arrested and convicted, you are gone. If you cheat and don´t get in line, you are gone.

A new President who believes in the Constitution should reverse all of Obamas illegal Executive Orders and send all of the illegals back where they came from. You just can´t maintain a decent society with illegal immigrants and law breakers. Add to that, people who just won´t even attempt to support themselves.

Someone just has to turn this economy around and socialists just aren´t capable of understanding a free system without useless government mandates and freedom to innovate.

Didn´t work for Russia, Cuba and any other Communist country. Isn´t working here.

It´s funny how President Obama is always talking about "I" and "me" whenever it makes him look good, but suddenly it´s "they" and "we" when mistakes are made. For instance, for years Obama boasted about how he ended the Iraq war and how he withdrew American troops. "You know I say what I mean and I mean what I say," he boasted on the campaign trail in 2012. "I said I´d end the war in Iraq. I ended it." As the Ebola epidemic has spread through West Africa over the last several months, President Obama has not used legal powers he possesses to help prevent the deadly virus from entering the United States. Federal law gives the president the power to issue a proclamation to seal the borders to any class of aliens who pose a threat to the United States. The law is broad enough that Obama could have issued a proclamation months ago denying entry to any foreign national from the countries of Sierra Leone, Guinea, Nigeria or Liberia. Under the law, such a proclamation could have

Through the fall of 2011, the main question facing the American military in Iraq was what our role would be now that combat operations were over. When President Obama announced the end of our combat mission in August 2010, he acknowledged that we would maintain troops for a while. Now that the deadline was upon us, however, it was clear to me—and many others—that withdrawing all our forces would endanger the fragile stability then barely holding Iraq together.

On September 16, President Obama visited the headquarters of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta. The agency is the lead organization in the federal government´s efforts to prevent the introduction and spread of the Ebola virus into the United States, and Obama used his remarks there to update Americans on those efforts. The chances of an Ebola outbreak in the United States are "extremely low," Obama said. Today marks the one-year anniversary for Obamacare’s health exchanges—which have helped more than 7 million people across the country enroll in health coverage. And while Obamacare’s marketplace is settling in for its second year, serious issues are cropping up that could potentially derail the entire health care law leaving millions without affordable health coverage. The first potential problem deals with funding for the law’s crucial risk corridor program, which protects insurers from major losses. Insurers who agree to sell policies on the new exchanges are compensated for if they incur heavy losses during the first few years of Obamacare’s implementation.
