Obama, staffers not even

Washington Times, by Joseph Curl

“How did you go bankrupt?”“Two ways. Gradually, then suddenly.” — Ernest Hemingway, “The Sun Also Rises” –––––––-President Obama and his sycophantic minions don’t even bother any more to come up with plausible answers to queries from the suddenly awakened media. Instead, they just repeat past talking points — aware that they’ve been repeatedly proven false, but not caring a bit. In short, their lies don’t make sense anymore, and they’re not even trying to be convincing. Like last week, when the president was out west on yet another fundraising trip (judging from his thin schedule, you’d think Iraq and Libya

From the lede, I imagined this story was going to be about our insane national debt, but instead it turned out to be about the lack of reportorial access to The Won.

*facepalm*

According to official schedule he doesn´t get up before 10 unless he has a fund raising trip planned. The joke of a daily briefing was debunked years ago.

In 2012 President Obama declared that the use of chemical weapons by Syrian President Bashar Assad would cross a “red line for us” and might trigger a U.S. military response. The U.S. and U.N. documented the use of chemical weapons in 2013. Obama did nothing. Even ISIS mocked Obama after this false threat.(Snip for photos)Now this… The Obama administration promised to overthrow the Assad regime if US planes were attacked entering Syrian airspace. Business Insider reported: President Barack Obama would seek to overthrow the regime of Bashar al-Assad if American planes were attacked upon entering Syrian air

Without the who and the what,
Ron Washington story is in limbo

Ron Washington, one of my all-time favorite sports characters and people, obviously did the wrong thing. How wrong, I don’t know. Maybe we will never know. But if nothing else, RonWash followed a wrong thing with a right move. He quit as manager of the Texas Rangers. Quitting with four weeks remaining in a bottom-of-the-ditch baseball season sent the local media, me included, into a what-the-hell frenzy, and also prompted some colleagues into a finger-wagging overreaction. “Wash quit on the team.” “He’s no better than Yu Darvish.” While not one normally inclined to caution others against a strong sports opinion, even I was heard suggesting restraint on

Retired Air Force Gen. Michael Hayden used a recent conference call with reporters to warn about the dangers of relying on air power to attain military objectives in the Middle East. The former director of both the CIA and the National Security Agency also raised eyebrows when he likened the temptation to lean on air power to casual sex. “The reliance on air power has all of the attraction of casual sex: It seems to offer gratification but with little commitment,” said Gen. Hayden, U.S. News and World Report reported Thursday. “We need to be wary of a strategy that puts

President Barack Obama welcomed a flock of AmeriCorps recruits to the White House this morning to celebrate AmeriCorps´ 20th anniversary. They were joined by former president Bill Clinton, who founded the program in 1994. While AmeriCorps has produced many photo opportunities that warmed politicians´ hearts, the "national service" revolution the agency promised remains a mirage. AmeriCorps consists of 75,000 members ( who collect up to $17,800 a year in salary and education benefits for laboring on social, environmental, education and other projects authorized by the agency headquarters. What should we make of the summer soldier/sunshine patriot who sits in the White House and acts both as commander in chief and golfer in chief — never allowing the former to get in the way of the latter? Will he shrink from the crisis presented by the explosive and horrific growth of the Islamic jihad movement, or will he somehow transform himself into someone capable of leading the nation and the free world in a time of war? If only rhetorically and if only for a few news cycles, Barack Obama moved from flight to fight in his speech on

Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent, the new group announced last week by Ayman al-Zawahiri to bolster his flagging fortunes, suffered a setback when three of its fighters were killed and seven arrested in its first ever terror attack. Heavily armed militants attacked a naval dock in Karachi´s sea port on Saturday night and targeted what they believed was an American aircraft carrier, but instead found a Pakistan Navy frigate and were overwhelmed before they could cause any damage, investigators said. Three jihadis were killed in the attack, four were captured and another three arrested the following day on information from interrogations. Two

Turkey, a NATO ally and host to two U.S. Air Force bases, will not cooperate with the attacks on ISIS. The AFP reports: Turkey will refuse to allow a U.S.-led coalition to attack jihadists in neighboring Iraq and Syria from its air bases, nor will it take part in combat operations against militants, a government official told AFP Thursday. Turkey made a similar refusal during the 2003 invasion of Iraq, which it disapproved of. This time, however, Ankara has shown at least some concern about ISIS, which has attacked Turkey directly. So what is going on? Turkey may be reluctant to act because

Like most people who are naive about the complexities of relationship violence — victims and bystanders alike — my dismissal of the dangers of abusive love cost me dearly. It took him 30 years of writing to make it big. Maybe his drinking slowed him up. Or publishers didn’t know how to sell him. But no one ever said Leonard didn’t know how to write. Before he hit the best-seller list for the first time with Glitz in 1985, Elmore Leonard spent more than 30 years writing pulp crime novels and westerns that sold in paperback racks in drug stores and bus stations. After Glitz, he’d keep writing for 28 more years, until he died last summer at 87. He became a mainstay on the best-seller list, praised by critics

The rising clamor over the beheading of two Americans, and rapidly sinking polls, forced President Obama to reassure the nation last week he had a plan to deal with the Islamic State. He did some of what he had to do, but only some, and so most military analysts believe the expanded airstrikes will not be a sufficient match for the size and weaponry of the terrorist army. They miss the point. The disjointed speech wasn’t really about terrorism and launching a new war. It was about saving Obama’s presidency. WASHINGTON – Democrats are discovering that maintaining control of the U.S. Senate in the November elections could prove to be a rather ambitious task, particularly with the political map favoring Republicans and many of the issues now falling into the GOP’s lap as well. Republicans need to pick up six seats to wrest control of the upper chamber from the Democrats. Making the job easier, perhaps, is the manner in which the contests are lined up – Democrats have to defend seven seats in states that were captured by unsuccessful Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney in 2012. That, combined with a general

His cynical grandstanding was rightly condemned — but he was hardly alone. Cruz agreed to speak to this group, which included bishops of the Catholic and Orthodox Churches, ostensibly out of solidarity, but took the occasion to antagonize them over their insufficient praise for Israel, then smeared them as anti-Semites before dropping the mic. Voter turnout during last month´s primary races was a little too good in some counties, Arizona elections officials said Friday. Some precincts in northern Arizona tallied more ballots cast than there are registered voters, the Arizona Capitol Times reported. According to officials, errors made by poll workers and elections officials in Apache and Navajo counties led to the miscalculations. Initial reports from some precincts showed a turnout of anywhere from 200 to 400 percent. In Apache County, the Puerco West precinct reportedly had 100 votes cast, but only 23 voters are registered there. The voter turnout added up to 434
